The Treehouse Live Format is the Future of E3

Yep, the format used by Nintendo this year has been utterly brilliant.
- No fake whooping and a hollering
- Humour and not taking themselves too seriously
- Lots of Gameplay
- No wankspeak and constant pauses for applause
- Real in depth demonstration of many games.

Brilliant.

They did this because they knew the press wouldn't. So i like it. Sony and MS don't need to do it because the press will do it themself.

Yeah the Xenoblade session was great. Gave the perfect amount of time to see how the game is coming along. This Hyrule Warriors demo just sold me on the game where before I didn't really care for it.

I do enjoy how long these demos are. Nothing seems too rushed and you'll get to see a more complete representation of the game than you usually do on other media sites. Interviews with some of the developers is a bonus.

It's positively excellent. The games are receiving extended coverage and are being commented on by their designers in a much more informal environment, so informal in fact that it would be perfectly acceptable for them to show something in early development, with possibly a number of unfinished details that would not be considered acceptable if displayed on a standard conference.

The best part about it for me is seeing the games played by people who are actually good at them.
Watching the press fumble around trying to learn a game is the most frustrating thing ever.

I've been loving it, and I hope every company does what Nintendo are doing in the future.

And idiots said Nintendo weren't going to be at E3.

Yup, and Thursday.

What? Brilliant. That I didn't know they were doing something like this at all has only increased how much I'm enjoying it, and yes, like others have said it's making me interested in games I wasn't even considering before like this here Hyrule Warriors.

I feel like overall Nintendo had just a really good event.

I feel like the event did some things not possible with a public presser, however...

If Nintendo were to do exactly what they did this year, to the extent of what was possible, they would've hit it just out of the park the same way.

Sony's and Microsoft's only dragged on because they just had non-optimal ways of trying to show their presser. Nintendo was perfect at this, and I'd like them to keep on doing what they do, but for the sake of my interest I'd like them to see what they just did but on a stage.

I'd also like it if all these big titles that weren't in the actual Digital Event be in the actual, well, Digital Event. I usually look at these post-events for solely interviews, and I feel like Nintendo could've gone above and beyond if they just hit it back-to-back with announcing things like Miyamoto's projects and more.

Edit: I'd like to say I loved what I saw and it was myriads better than last year, myriads.

I'm really enjoying Treehouse! Everyone's pretty enthusiastic and it gives you a good look at stuff that you can't see if you don't attend E3.

And on the humor front, bringing in people that are actually funny to make the jokes for them.
Sorry Aisha.

Well, they have exclusive acces with Devs... so i guess that is different. Still, is somehow disturbing the people that are demanding cutting the middle man to get the corporate to get PR machine directly to them.

Right now the only thing the press can do is give us less facts. We can be opinionated after E3 is over, but I don't want any filters, I want to see them demos for myself.

Completely agree. I normally watch the conferences and that's E3 for me but this format brings E3 to me.

I don't say this often but... good job Nintendo.

Sorry Aisha.

Of course, you know she had to follow a script....

Fair, but lets not pretend Nintendo can not be as shitty with the control of information or last year were any better.

It is so good I almost can't believe nintendo are the ones doing it first.

Really positive, engaging way to get their message and games across without fakery and fluffery no one wants to see.

I'm literally looking forward to the rest now when before I was a bit disapointed by this e3 overall.

Whoever had the idea for it should take a bow.

I had no plans to watch this today but I have watched for the past few hours. It's amazing. Might be the most pleasant surprise of E3.

The press is already a PR vehicle. At least we know exactly where a developer's motivations lie.

I feel like this is the most E3 engagement people who don't get to attend have EVER had. This is truly fantastic. Nicely done Nintendo!

This coming from someone who has been to the convention the past 3 years.

It helps that the Treehouse folk is really likable as well. Great format and much more enjoyable to watch the games being played this way rather than awkwardly shot E3 Floor videos.

Yup. Engage the fans, not the press. The whole idea was removing some of the middle men; and it's working brilliantly so far.

They seem to really like their jobs, and it's showing.

Rewinding just 24 hours ago and we had people shitting all over Nintendo and their no press conference, glad to see Nintendo is changing hearts and minds. Truly a great job so far, and this is only day 1!

A perk of showing games when they are in a playable state and not only existent as concept trailers and scripted demos.

People clinging to the old conference format couldn't have been proven more wrong (not that it's the first time they have been).
