Splatoon (Nintendo 4x4 team shooter, Wii U, 2015)

looks fun , i hope for regular dual stick controls ( i thought he said u had to use the pad to aim up and down) and for split screen.

I don't think the people complaining about Nintendo Network have played MK8/MH3U online. Both work on par with my online experiences on other consoles.

Now whether or not Nintendo chooses voice chat is an other story (they should), but if PS360 shooters can handle vfoice chat during shooters, I don't see why this shouldn't be able to.

Played it at E3 just now. I didn't see the Digital Event in its entirety so idk if my impressions have already been explained or not.

You shoot with ZR, throw bombs with R, glide through the paint with L. It had both gyro and left analog stick controls going on at the same time so I screwed up quite a bit. Touch screen is used for when you respawn so you can jump directly to your teammates.

Game was fun, but my team was losing so that kind of sucked. The graphics are clean, but I wish they gave it a better artstyle so the game would have more character but that's my own personal opinion. Overall it has a lot of potentitial but they need to give it more modes and gameplay options.

Yeah great design! The paint really unifies everything!
Honestly rolled my eyes a bit when it first came on, but really got interested the more they talked of it and the more they showed.

I really like the idea and creativity behind it, but I just don't see how the replay value won't evaporate quickly.

This seems like the type of MP game that would get old fast.

I wasn't really feeling the style at first but it grew in me. I like the mechanics. It definitely needs a little polishing but I think this is great.

Something about this just hooks me viscerally. I think it's the overall late-'90s feel it has to it, and how the last time I was really into multiplayer games was, incidentally, back then, when I'd head over to friends' houses and we'd all bring our N64 controllers for GoldenEye and Smash Brothers. I always got my ass kicked, but that's not the point.

It also looks really inventive mechanically, as pretty much everyone else has said.

Nintendo's entire show has really sold me on a Wii U. All the new stuff they revealed (particularly this and Zelda) -- plus Mario Kart, Mario 3D World, Tropical Freeze, and Smash -- really makes me want to pull the trigger.

Why do you feel that? Not enough weapons or not enough game modes, or not enough maps? Bear in mind, this is our first look so that kind of information is either not finalized or hasn't been revealed yet.

Otherwise, the mechanics look fresh and very solid.

The gameplay is solid, all they need are many maps with interesting ways to swim(like swimming up a wall, swimming across gaps), different modes and interest weapons.

Would love tournament features like MK8.

This is the game of the show for me. I'm genuinely impressed at Nintendo right now. I haven't followed gaming in a while, Zelda made me check the gaming side and perused the Nintendo thread and found this. This game, the concept, the mechanics, the take on the stale shooter genre has is amazing. It reminds me so much of when I first started Unreal Tournament.

Okay, you can shoot the walls, swim up the ink and hide in the walls?

This game = more innovative than Titanfall.
That was exactly my thought when seeing the trailer. This game (along with MK8 and Captain Toad) has sold me on a Wii U. Such a great concept.....shame that games journalisms will probably ignore it

I am surprised how hyped I am for this game, didn't expect that at all.
Day 1 for me for sure, looks fresh and innovative with a lot of potential to develop strategies and make some neat plays. I like what I see so far.

Holy crap, people are already developing techniques. Like the guy dropping a splat on the floor, jumping in and out of it - repeat. This game is great.

Crazy that Nintendo made this. Looking at it, it doesn't look like anything they've ever done. Unfamiliar characters, unfamiliar genre.

Very interested. Can't wait to see what else they have in store for this game.

This looks awesome. I'm loving the depth and variety of the maps. It reminds me of Ricco Harbor from Sunshine meets the facility from Goldeneye. In other words, perfect. Definitely getting this.

Yup, they're back with more ! Link for those who haven't seen it yet. Was hoping they'd show other game modes and maps today, but it looks so fun and just knowing that there'll be more modes and maps, I'm sold.

It's interesting Nintendo did end up using paintball to get into shooter. It's what we all said should happen...but to see it actually happen...

Absolutely adore the fact that it's a pure new ip. No mushroom men. Not saying a Mario themed level wouldn't be cool...:p
It was my first thought when they unveiled it at the ND however when they explained the concept behind it, I realized the paintball wasn't just an excuse for Nintendo for doing a TPS but actually the core concept from which the game took form and expanded.

2015 release, so they are planning at least an additonal 6 months worth of polish on this title, I'd say this bodes VERY well for this game.

Am I the only one that thinks there is a bit of e-sports potential in this? Hopefully Nintendo includes a robust spectator mode.

The gameplay fundamentals look amazing, but I think they'll have to really step up their game in terms of map design and gameplay modes in order for this to really be a classic on the level of Quake 3, GoldenEye, Gears 1, etc. The map in the gameplay video looked way too simple.
