Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Oh my god I want that medal so bad.

The lack of a Konami representative makes me sad, especially since the other companies are so well represented.

Simon Belmont or Snake would've been ace :(

The proper name *is* Super Smash Bros. For Wii U and Super Smash Bros. For 3DS.

Crappy names but you'll have to deal. =P

I still think Universe would be an appropriate subtitle for Wii U, and Dimensions for 3DS. But I can't complain anymore with all this content being packed in.

Still a slight annoyance, but whatever.

Villager actually looks alright once you get him down.

Sucks to hear them mention stale moves though :(

Villager's specials seem kind of nuts. Shooting off a Gyroid you can chase after as soon as it starts moving or riding on it for a huge distance. Balloon up special that takes you ridiculous high. Also when I went to the smash fest I saw a Villager use his balloons to completely ignore little mac's up special. I dunno if the balloons were absorbing hits of if its initiation has armor or what but it was crazy.

rosalina's fs seems like its super situational and seems like it works the best on stages like fd

Same issues as DK's, really. Probably good on certain smaller stages and likely balanced around how easy it can be for Luma to get it at a distance, but it's not as good as Super Sonic and nobody will love it.

Gosh dern Miis. I was expecting them, but they still piss me off. Well, they will at least inspire me to work extra hard to whoop ass when I play against someone using one.

Palutena looks dope, but Pac-Man's moveset just looks weird and am not quite sure how it all works.

It's going to be hard picking a main this time around.

At least you won't see them online.

So one thing I noticed is that the Treehouse players were pretty aggressive around the Smash Ball. Not only trying to get it, but also trying to go after the person that has one and knock it out of him/her. Curious if being very aggressive is a much better way to deal with Smash Balls than to try to evade the person with it?

And I have to say, I prefer the FS that do require some positioning or timing to use well as that means there's some risk in missing with them and some skill required in getting them to connect (why am I discussing FS balance...). So I'm mostly okay with Mario's, Greninja's and Link's FSes. And despite them being sort of crappy/easy to avoid, DK and Rosalina's FSes are also mostly fine imo. Fox and ZSS have pretty shitty FSes though because

1. the characters are effectively invincible during the FS.
2. the FS gives too much flexibility for how long they last; tons of damage, can be aimed more than once, can juggle someone or lift someone into an overhead KO easily.

I think the best you can do is stay on the offensive without leaving yourself open to the FS, always anticipating it

I mean, it's not just me right? The first time it was just for E3, then all of them. This time there's no any new ones because we got all of them last time

I'm just a little sad/nervous now for Takamaru. Really think he should make it, but the DLC stuff at least keeps to torch alive. The problem is the waiting for it to happen. I always seem to bet on these long shots.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but the default song in Arena Ferox is Id~Purpose from Awakening. Perfect choice.

Such a wonderful song choice for the default.

The People’s Challenger contest winner played Super Smash Bros. for Wii U against the champions of the Super Smash Bros. Invitational on a giant screen in the Nintendo booth. His character of choice? Little Mac, of course. The excited winner and lifelong Nintendo fan also got to meet Reggie. Check out a video of all the action right here: http://spr.ly/6187cUi1
So so lucky. Now I regret not entering. I want that medal!

Maybe because competitive players play and continue to play far beyond the casuals who stop after a couple of months. They've been the ones supporting the scene so much for so long that it has led to Nintendo even holding these tournaments.

There is a middle ground between competitive and casual. Between all three releases, I've probably played more Smash than the majority of competitive players, but don't usually play competitively.
