Yeah, considering Mii data is so tiny it fit inside that tiny memory inside Wiimotes, it makes no sense. Speaking of which, can you still transfer Miis to Wiimotes? If you main a Mii you'd wanna bring your own over, after all
Well, Palutena with Customized move sets are not allowed online mode, but they are allowed with friends only online tho. I wouldn't worry about that tho.
Yeah, I think I'm going to avoid customization for the most part. A part of the fun for me with Smash is using moves that have clear origins in games and a good portion of the customized moves seem to be complete nonsense.
whoa whoa whoa whoa, where were these variations showcased? Hidden throughout the trailer? Is there a variation of his fireball that turns them into pills that jump higher?
In fact, Luigi could also get a Galaxy tornado. In which, he is granted more recovery on the move with Galaxy sparkles referencing the spin move in SMG. Almost akin to Mario's/Dr. Mario's ability with their respective tornadoes but with greater affect and less mashing.
That really sucks if you find a set you really like but isn't radically overpowered or anything. It'd be like saying you can't bring Sakura in to your Street Fighter tournament but Ryu is fine.
Honestly, I don't know why they're bothering with moveset customization at all. It seems like a waste of resources.

Yeah I do find it dissapointing. I had wanted customized movesets but in a different way. Mario has so many powerups they could pull from like tanooki tail, cat swipes, boomerang flower, ice flower, etc. Link has tons of different items and so does Samus, Pit, etc.. When I was thinking of customizable movesets, I was more so thinking of actual moves not made up things.

I don't know. I have a feeling that friends and I are going to have a lot of fun times with customization move sets but we will see the final outcome tho.
I'm aware of that but there are few people that were concerned about Palutena because they mentioned Palutena along with Mii for characters having special case with having 12 unique moves for their moveset customizations, and Mii Fighters are not allowed for most of online modes. Mii Fighters and Customized Palutena are allowed if you are going to play with friends only.
Awhile, rest of the characters only get 3 "variations" of original move sets. Of course, customized move sets are not allowed for most of online mode tho.
1. Greninja - Still hype as fuck to play as him and seeing footage of him in action looks great.
2. Wii Fit Trainer - Still the greatest "WTF" moment from last year's E3. Looks like a fun, if not particularly innovative fighter.
3. Little Mac - Watching him in action with all the new footage has made me no less interested in him, even though he looks godawful in the air.
also obvious things that need not be mentioned
4. Mega Man - It's Mega Man in Smash Bros.
5. Pac-Man - I expected to hate him, but seeing him looking so chipper in his classic design and all the bonus Namco arcade representation has me actually excited to try him out.
6. Rosalina - Luma looks powerful and hard to grasp, but she seems like she'll be fun.
7. Miis - All three variations of the Mii look like fun, but I'm not really sure how I feel about them being totally custom characters.
8. Villager - I wasn't super hype on Villager before and I'm still not, but a couple of his special moves look interesting and he should at least be fun to try out.
9. Palutena - The only totally "meh" choice to me. Don't care for her being another custom character and not a huge fan of her as a playable choice in any capacity, but much less when she's standing alongside Zelda and Rosalina. She'll probably still be fun, but ehhhhh.
I think I might have figured out the 3DS select screen layout. (Even if I haven’t, what I’m left with somehow makes sense.)
First, let’s take a trip back to 2007. The E for All demo’s select screen seemed random at the time, but in actuality, none of the characters were moved in the final version. They were all ordered exactly the same. The E for All build was from three months before Brawl’s Japanese release, and the 3DS version of Smash Bros. releases in three months from now.
That brings us to now: the 3DS select screen from E3. Inserting new character tiles between the demo characters gives us…
As per Sakurai tradition, there’s lots of obsessive-compulsive details and nods:
Kirby was in the center of the Melee select screen, and the Kirby column was in the middle of Brawl’s. Here, Pit and Kirby begin the middle rows.
Pit is below Link, and Palutena is below Zelda.
The “counter” characters are all touching (Fire Emblem, Little Mac, Greninja, and Lucario).
Chorus Kids are below Wario (Rhythm Heaven is WarioWare’s sister series).
Ice Climbers are next to Dedede (hammer characters).
Captain Falcon is below Fox (F-Zero is Star Fox’s sister series).
Olimar is next to Captain Falcon (space captains).
Villager is next to Olimar (2001 EAD creations).
Wii Fit Trainer is next to Mii (casual Wii characters).
Pac-Man is next to Mr. Game & Watch (the game’s oldest characters).
My thought is, if the customization stuff like stat changes and custom/alt moves isn't useable in with randoms online or at tournaments is it even worth using at all? Any play time using those is wasted when its time to seriously compete. Plus I'd hate to get attached to a certain style of character then be forced into something completely different.

I mean you can use with Friends online and you can use it in local multiplayer. As long as it isn't broken as fuck and easy enough to upload (amiibo's could help in this regard) it could maybe be tournament viable. We'll see if it turns out to be any good/fun though.
I'm pretty sure that I would be very happy with the roster overall but I will miss Snake tho. However, where would you put it in your chart if the source is right about DLC characters?
Every time someone hit with the FS on the floor people went crazy.
He's who I planned to main, but my one match with him didn't feel great. I think he's a character I will need to sit down with for a while. I still plan on giving it a solid effort since it's Mega Man.

One of the shoulder buttons could open up a new menu. I suspect the Wii U version's select screen will be handled differently to accommodate multiple players selecting characters simultaneously -- perhaps there'll be a DLC tile there.
Speaking of Mario's custom special moves, is it confirmed that Mario's default down-b (a.k.a. the one people have to use in For Glory) is still F.L.U.D.D. that doesn't do damage?
If so, whyyyyy..... High-Pressure F.L.U.D.D. should have been default while Scalding and Freezing should be alternates.
Unrelated, but I like how much bitching there was about Mii's Icon and what would/wouldn't work or was/wasn't official... and it just ends up being the Smash series logo.

I'm hoping that if you turn on custom moves then it works like mvc3 where you each pick your character, then pick your custom moves where you go up/down to the different specials and left/right to select your variation, then pick a stage. If it requires amiibo or constantly going to the settings to tweak the characters then its worthless to me
I've played through Kid Icarus and Kid Icarus Uprising, I love Palutena as a character but her showing so far in Smash has been pretty meh. All we essentially have are a mishmash of quick snippets of special moves, no real clear indication of how she plays. Honestly, her character trailer was easily the worst out of all of them in this regard. All of the others had better scenes of the characters actually fighting.

I look at it the same as item matches, free for alls, or even single player mode. Probably doesn't help a lot when you want to really learn the game. But it's a fun way to unwind and just enjoy yourself, potentially have laughs with friends. That's the great thing about Smash, it's fun in several ways.
Palutena as a character is kind of hype, but I didn't feel like I got enough of a look at her gameplay in the trailer. I don't know how she works. I also don't like how the trailer treated several chooseable special moves like they were equals. Obviously a few of them make up the actual moveset, the rest are imposters.

I would buy that. I'm very curious about DLC characters because it would stalling the character speculations and delaying the inevitable disappointments.

I wish someone would have asked Miyamoto or Reggie if Megaman will have a voice instead of his NES sound fx from his attacks. I know he's a robot but come on

It's funny. I was reminded how Namco did this with Soul Calibur IV custom matches. No move variations but stats via clothing and armor nonetheless. It was great fun for while but then it soon just got monotonous since players always chose the same combination of armor and weapons because of the best possible stat build. It quickly became boring for many. But I remember playing with friends who even when we were serious, we still played around with clothing and stats for the hell of it.
I don't think Smash 4 looks to be that bad, but maybe that's what Namco learned and carried over to influence Sakurai's decision on that. They did remove such feature in the sequel.
from the looks of it her walk speed on the ground is actually pretty terrible that stride is really slow her dash seems to be okay but does seem slow.
her roll dodge at the beginning of the trailer (if that was her roll seems to be super fast)
and shes only fast when using the moves super speed and light weight so i presume base palutena is going to be actually super slow mobility wise
and i do agree with the sentiment people share about palutena her reveal is by far the weakest (i have this notion her trailer was made the way it was mainly due to showing off her customization and a bit of her moves) I am super hyped for palutena and excited to try her out
Uprising is one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm not super thrilled about her debut. I wanted her in the game, and I'm really happy she made it, but I need to see more of her moves in detail to figure out how I feel.
I just don't think he's a very distinctive character in the context of the roster we already have or the franchise he's supposed to represent. At the end of the day, he's another blue-haired sword-Lord, from a series that has a lot more than that in terms of play-style and characters. I don't even really want Lucina for that reason. Maybe Sakurai has some good ideas for him, but I'd rather just see... someone else.
1. Takamaru
2. Snake (Returning)
3. Isaac (or Golden Sun Representative)
4. Duck Hunt Dog
5. Donkey Kong Country Representative (Dixie or King Rool)
6. Shulk
7. Ridley (for my friends)
8. Third Kid Icarus Representative (Medusa, Hades or Dark Pit)
9. Advance Wars
Top 3 are pretty much what I would like to see in Smash 4 but I'm very pleased with what I got for Smash 4 at the moment.
Can't believe I've gotten to the point where Takamaru is the last of the "better chance than nots" in my head for a edition of Smash all things considered.
