PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

I'm just thinking back on the Type0 thread where a number of people are going "lol Vita". if it becomes Vita exclusive, all these console-only Vita haters might just implode.

#sorry #imagination

If it had been a Vita exclusive, the same people would just be like "lol the best Vita can do is another port of an old game? i can play this for free on a PSP emulator" etc

If E3 had shown a new God of War game, it would have been just like Uncharted, Killzone and LBP - "why would i buy the Vita for a watered down spin off, when i can play the much better [no, not necessarily] real ones on my PS3/PS4?"

If it's an all new ip, ala Gravity Rush or Tearaway... then "it's not a system seller and won't move units... it needs an exclusive Infamous or Grand Theft Auto" or "i'll wait for it to bomb and be free on PS+... 'scuse me while I play the latest Assassin's Creed"

You know the drill.

YES. i think this too . All of it.

Is anyone else having problems with the iOS Playstation app? I get push notifications, yet when I enter the app I only get server timeouts and "cannot load" errors :(

What do you want? For Half-Life 3, Shenmue 3, and The Last Guardian to be Vita-exclusives and all released on the same day?

I think there are enough people who have played Crisis Core to not dismiss Type-0. Final Fantasy franchise is popular enough to not be Tearaway.

Say, did they really say at first that Type 0 will get a Vita release before doubling down on that?

Now you know why Vita owners are up in arms and that blog post has perhaps the most comments in the PS Blog history.

Hahahahahahahaha, oh MAN. That was so fucking stupid/idiotic.

It's like lifting up Vita's owners up towards the cloud only to smack them down with an Eiffel Tower and then they dumped Petronas Tower too above it for good measure.

I agree. What I look forward to the most in the near future are two ports (Child of light and swapper) and a remastered psp game (SAO hollow fragment).

Edit:BTW what do we think about Lost Dimension?

Is Freedom Wars a budget title? Why is it only 29.99? Not that I'm complaining, just wondering.

I wouldn't be surprised if freedom wars is Vita's most expensive game to develop, at least from Sony.
At least whatever the engine they are using must be the most advanced one IMO, judging by the screens.

Also playing the demo at Vita1000 I'm starting to guesstimate the reason they "held back" the Vita's power until now, he he.

Sums up perfectly. ;.;

I think right now, I'm most excited for Child of Light, La Mulana, and Binding of Isaac Rebirth.

Don't own CoL, glad it got a port to where I'd most like to play it. This is where I played both Rayman games and it's where I play rpgs, so...

Never did get far La Mulana and put it down when it was announced for Vita. Even before I start playing it, I'll put Spelunky and 1001 Spikes next to it and just lovingly stare at the Indiana Jones trilogy.

I wanted to get into BOI on Steam, but I didn't feel like playing with mouse & keyboard, and mapping the controls with xpadder just kind of felt blah. Plus the new pixel art style is really doing it for me, and the new content sounds more awesome every time Ed McMullen tweets an update.

Freedom Wars is looking cool now, too. Will it matter? No. Will I play it? Sure. Oh yeah and Ratchet & Clank... I don't care if it's choppy, I haven't played them since 2005 and they were my mf'in jam.

I've had my Vita for less than 3 months and that music is already haunting my dreams... yet I keep it turned on. I must be some sort of maniac.

I've tought about quitting it. But navigatign through the Vita OS will feel weird without it lol

And bam! They're banned.

By GAF ToS you can't get it "for free". It's piracy. You'd need to buy a japanese copy and apply the patch.

And you've forgotten about the part where they portbeg the original exclusives. I don't care if they hide it with "sales arguments". It's still portbegging and it was embarrasing when Tearaway launched.

YES! I remembered that i saw a Type 0 used copy in some retail of my city, so i searched and i found it!

You know what? I didn't touch my PSP2k since i bought Vita, i was expecting a pixelated mess in a bad screen, instead the screen is fantastic and Type 0 looks clean!

Type 0 looks awesome and is totally playable without the second analog.
So do yourselves a favor and buy Type 0 on PSP, don't reward Square for its policy.

Type 0 announcement is in certainty a kick in the ass to all Vita owners. Im hoping this will not be repeated with GR2 or im gonna cry hard haha.
Yeah, GR2 is a first party game and graphics looked doable on Vita, but both "2" and platform were not specified, i wouldn't be surprised if it ends being a PS4 port, after Type 0 i expect anything.

Console GAF and Vita GAF should not need to wage a petty war like this. We should not demon gaze console-only guys. Instead we should embrace them and put Vitas in their pockets.

Yes, you are right, but you can't deny that what he said is true. When it comes to Vita everyone can't wait to say something bad.
And let's not lie to ourselves, many Sony home console fans want Vita dead(and PSP before it) as much as SCEA.

Wait...GR2 has a chance of becoming a multiplatform exclusive? Please, Sony, dont do something that will slap vita owners in the face...again. Just keep Gravity Rush's sequel on the vita and announce it properly and I may forget the type0 fiasco.
I wont though

I haven't had a chance to catch much of E3 - was there any mention of Binding of Isaac or VVVVVV for Vita.

I'd love a solid release date for these, I was hoping we'd get them this week. Last I read of VVVVVV is that the Vita release is 'imminent'.

That's 100% true, and they're not even that few.

Platform was never announced and with Sony moving away from internal Vita development (all the upcoming Vita games are developed externally, even the ones from SCEJ) we can't be sure it's a handheld game.

At this point and after not seeing any update at E3, I wouldn't even be surprised if it's not for Vita.

I'll drop a question: How many internally developed games has Sony Japan released recently?

How many have been outsourced / collaborations?

SCEJ studio internal output hasn't been stellar for the past few years.

What else could've won? It's arguably the most important Vita game of 2014 in Japan as well.

Look at the nominees
. And no, it's not the most important. That's for PS Nova.

Freedom Wars looks good, and they've convinced me to buy it with the demo. But yeah, they have this weird marketing about it that isn't doing the game justice.

YOU PEOPLE BETTER FUCKING BUY THIS GAME.

Not playing anything else right now and my backlog only gets bigger because Football Manager Classic 2014 is digital crack.

What tactics do you use? Had a great season at Ajax but then early on in the second season things started to go badly...

To be fair 3DS only has 2 listed as well.

It's still depressing as hell though.

It's actually just the nominations, but yeah, you get the drift.

i for one am shocked.

It doesn't even have a bundle or an LE Vita. And they literally said that they want to create a boom.

There's lots of stuff about it that could actually make it work.

P.S. I am in Kyoto and we're ranked 12. We need a lot of GDP (yes, as in Gross Domestic Product) to reach rank 10. :(

4-1-2-1-2 (442 diamond), fluid and attacking.
Code:
                      Target Man Poacher

                             Advanced Playmaker

Box to Box Box to Box

                                Anchor Man

Full Back Central Defender Central Defender Full Back

                               Goal Keeper

Team orders I can think of without looking in game: direct passing, work ball into box (often switch to pump ball into box with early floating crosses but I also have two pretty good target men, one being the tallest player in the Bundesliga), high defensive line, play narrower, offside trap, sliding tackles, high tempo, run at defense.
Generally, I let them play very aggressive and take the fouls.

Tried to play counter but it didn't work out at all. My first season with 4-2(DM)-3-1 was also bad but the initial team balance was awful anyway. Playing with Hamburger SV and the real general manager Kreuzer did the worse imaginable job with signings.

I had only 1 real striker at the start of the first season, which I finished somewhere in the middle of the table. Went on to be second place with just 3 points short of Bayern München in the next season. In the middle of my third season I am also in second place but Bayern is having a solid lead of 10 points. Don't think I can really challenge them for the title in the next 3-5 years, they are just too wealthy.
My Champions League endeavor was a catastrophe but I was put with Juventus, Monaco and Barcelona (who went on being third, lol) in a group.

Already signed many young and talented players for the next season, many as free agents. My problem now is that my goalkeeper Adler who still has 1,5 years of contract won't renew it. Wan't to get Begovic as a free agent then but I can't offer him a good wage because I am already near my wage budget for the next season. Tried to trade Adler and Van der Vaart (top earner, €4.8 million) which the other side accepted but I still can't offer a higher wage because of the budget constraints which bugs me because it fails to realize that Adler and Van der Vaart's wage will be gone. Can't sell both as nobody is interested. Will trade VdV for a shitty player who will accept a low wage so I can free up my wage budget but that may anger my fans and the board of directors (don't know if the game has that).

Very, as if S.T.E.A.M. was any competition. IGN didn't do their homework for handhelds, unfortunately. They could've at least included Fantasy Life for 3DS and Tales of Hearts R for Vita.

SCEJ studio internal output hasn't been stellar for the past few years.

In 2013 it was only 2, Puppeteer and Knack (and a total of 4 including Rain and Soul Sacrifice). The story being that Allan Becker became the head of Japan Studio and found it to be a mess structurally which lead to inefficient use of resources and subsequently long delays.

So the last few years has been a lot about restructuring the internal pipeline and focusing on what can be done well. Given that they still needed to actively develop games and so collaborations are large in part to supplement the internal output of the studio as well as to bolster developer relations which has become a core focus for Sony in recent years.

More here.

Edit: And for the record the only purely internal developed SCEJ games currently in development are The Last Guardian and Gravity Rush 2. All others have been in collaboration with external developers.

Or a game that has actually received positive buzz, like Murasaki Baby.

Yeah, I read it a while ago. What I wanted to highlight is that Japan Studios doesn't release so many internally developed games.

Soul Sacrifice, Hot Shots Golf, Freedom Wars, White Knight Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Patapon and a lot of other games are collaborations. Even if Sony internal studios are "switching" to the PS4, the Vita can still get great games from Japan Studio's partners.
