The Red Skull doesn't like petting puppies or contributing to charities. In fact, the guy's elementally pure when it comes to being evil.

And the most irredeemable of all Marvel Comics supervillains is more dangerous than ever in the upcoming event series Avengers & X-Men: AXIS. Marvel hosts a panel discussing the major new story line as well as other news Saturday at the Special Edition: NYC comic-book convention at New York's Javits Center.

Written by Rick Remender,AXIS runs nine issues over three months starting in October and crosses over into several Marvel titles including Iron Man, Magneto, Loki: Agent of Asgard and Remender's own Captain America and Uncanny Avengers comics.

Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort describes AXIS as "kind of a Michael Bay movie. It's big and spectacular and has a ton of full-out bombast."

[Remender] "It's a nice cathartic chapter in the history of the Avengers and X-Men at the worst moment in their lives. Writing it, there were a couple of moments where I banged on my desk and said, 'Yes! Yay, nerd!' and I got excited for it."

My only concern is Cheung on artwork. Guy better have the whole thing drawn already, or damn close.

How did the Red Skull commandeer the Onslaught force? And why would Onslaught, given his mental origins, work with a Nazi?

Red Skull stole Prof X's brain when Cyke killed him. Onslaught is crazy, last time he showed up he wanted to use Bucky's body. Female Bucky not Winter Soldier.

I'm curious what Goblin they're using for this event. The costume style is Green Goblin, but the coloring is Hobgoblin. Also, Norman Osborn was stripped of his powers at the end of the Superior Spider-Man run, although I doubt that will last very long.

Cap and Cyclops on the same side? Wrap it son you already done. Especially the Red Skull, fool has had a cosmic cube how many times and still gets destroyed? He got fucked up by Douglock, Douglock.

But I thought it was established in Onslaught vs Marvel Universe that Onslaught could only possess the body of someone with the X gene? Which is why all the 'normal' heroes had to sacrifice their bodies to stop him.

The large ensemble cast also includes Cap, Thor, Luke Cage, Storm, Deadpool, the Inhumans' Medusa, Havok, Kid Apocalypse and Quentin Quire on the Avengers/X-Men side. Doctor Doom, Enchantress, Absorbing Man, Carnage, Hobgoblin and Sabretooth come to the fore among the antagonists.

All the mutant energy released by M-day changed him. Plus he did a stint in the Negative Zone and no one comes out of there the same. So who knows.

I hope Deadpool actually contributes something to this crossover rather than just doing some random semi tie-in stuff on the periphery of the event.

I'm not an expert on Onslaught, but Red Skull literally dug up Xavier's body, cut it's head open, pulled out the brain and grafted parts of it onto his own.

Also-this series was hinted at in the early Uncanny Avengers when Havok and Wanda were on the run in the future from Red Onslaught.

Also something to note: this is not the same Red Skull that Cap has been battling since he was unfrozen. This is a clone of the original Skull that was cryogenically frozen during WWII - he came straight outta 1942 into the present day.

Red Onslaught is an intriguing direction to take a concept that I felt was very weak, but more importantly we can have a well written Deadpool again.

In Remender We Trust.

When they say X-men they just mean the ones that are Avengers right? Id love some of Scott's crew helping.

Other than Iron Man and Thor, I'm intrigued at the main hero choices this time around. So basically it's:

Medusa - Green Goblin
Deadpool - Young Loki
Luke Cage - Sabretooth
Iron Man - Onslaught
Thor - Doom
Storm - Carnage
