What's the fastest way to level? I'm finding that Exploration/Patrol lacks direction,(obviously) I think that's my biggest complaint so far. There needs to at least be a map that shows you what location you are in (the various areas of Russia) and points you towards random objectives, public events, etc.

One other thing I noticed: I didn't hear one person speak. I had my mic out ready to coordinate and nobody was answering me at all. Anybody else see this a lot? I'll have to play with fellow Gaf next time.

I haven't heard anyone speak outside of a fireteam I was invited to.

Found another nice vista in Tower

You can't hear people unless you're in a Fireteam, I think. Not in free-roam.

Really wish there was some kind of a map while free roaming. Even just a basic one that highlights just your location and region. I've always been bad at sorting out direction and location from memory.
And at the very least a North indicator on the circular whatsit at the top left would be nice.

The exploration missions have very low XP payout.
I have the most fun doing those though :) Just running around attacking everything and scouring for random junk loot.

Is anyone using the Playstation Gold Headset to play this? I have my mic set way low in my PS4 accessory settings, but in my sidetalk I'm hearing like every sound around me. Is the mic super sensitive for anyone else?

Right now, from my short experience I would say multiplayer probably

Not exploration. Do the strike and crucible. The exploration missions have very low XP payout.

All I did was exploration last night and got to level 8 in around 2 hours. I was in a group of 3 and we were doing missions one after the other. How fast are people getting there doing the strike and crucible?

It's the starting area I would assume. It's not meant for you to power level. That's why all those mobs are like level 2 or 3.
Sounds like maybe you didn't explore far enough if you only found level 2 and 3 mobs.

Strike gave me like a lvl and a half in 44 minutes.

Just got an email with the code a little while ago. I don't even really play FPS games, but I think I'll check it out this weekend.

I think the exploration missions give you like 350 XP or something. A Strike has lots of enemies that give you 82 XP alone and there is a high XP payout at the end.

I found some others. Hell I went up to where the strike mission is. Didn't see any exploration missions there though.

I've only managed to play about half an hour of this so far, but I assume the full game will be much better about teaching the player about things and giving a proper introduction. The Alpha just drops the player into the game lost and confused with minimal hints.

Dropped into a mission that I don't know why I'm doing, attacked by some enemy that is apparently rare ("It can't be!) and yet I have no reason to care since I just started this five minutes ago. Mission complete, what did I learn? Shoot things with guns.
Now I'm in a spaceship given no direction in life. Pick a location, I guess. Why is my character doing these things? What's my motivation?

It is an alpha, afterall. Can't expect the full suite, I know. Just a small context-less taste. It's just a bit jarring.

Is this sub-1080p? Doesnt look as clear as I would expect. Feel like I'm playing on PS3. Maybe just another alpha quirk.

Exactly it's an Alpha. Don't expect tutorials or other stuff. Don't get fooled by these things people call betas where all this shit is in. Those are basically just the new demos. Also it's really not hard to figure out.

Finally get a chance to try this out after work, but can't connect. Is it down right now?

I had the same problem on my first try. Try closing the application and re-launch. That did it for me but might have been a coincidence.

Gotcha. Still, I was in a Strike with 2 other people for over an hour and never heard anything. I'm just assuming they weren't plugged in, since that would be considered a Fireteam right? Doesn't have to be formed through invites, correct?

So I beat the wizard, did some exploration (my god it's so open and lots of places to go), and did the strike mission (dungeon). Definitely Day 1 for me after this.

Love exploring and finding new ways that lead to new places. The whole scale of this game is off the charts. Really hyped for this game now.

Has anyone found an effective way to fight the devil walker? It has sooooooo much health.

Best way I found is to take down his legs to open up his core and use ur powers on the core.

You should see a speaker icon in the fireteam window if they have a microphone.

Yes

Best I came up with is attack the legs, go in with super when its down.

There also seems to be a small weak point behind the head when its down, save your heavy weapon for that?

Still took quite some time to kill.

It didn't knock me on my scrotum but it's fun. I will like it better when I get to use my Xbox One controller. No offense to PS4 owners but and I definitely know this isn't how everyone feels but the PS4 controller, while much better than the DS3 is still a terrible controller for shooters in my opinion.

One question about the game, I was going about my business when all of a sudden that walker shows up along with an army of enemies. Obviously it's setup for coop play but how do I get to where people help me or I help them? I got blown the fuck up in no time by myself.

Where's this "Strike" thing people keep mentioning? I played Old Russia twice (on both modes) but I was solo the whole time. Would like to get into some PvE action.
