I don't really care about the franchise or so but I'm eager to see what kind of moveset Chorus Men would have. I'm very curious because I have no idea that they would be like.

I need to buy Wii game for my kids because I could see that they might like it.

With you being deaf I imagine the RH series is one you really can't play. Hopefully they won't be rhythm based in smash (or at least have icons on the screen like dk's final smash now) so you can play them

Bower has improved reach, improved speed, his Fair cancels instantly which is an improvement from past versions, crouch cancelled dashing gives him a massive advantage over other characters, Dair is now a spike from what I've heard so it's a better edge guard and bowser bomb instantly breaks shields.

They've really given a lot of tools to bowser this time around, now they just need to make crouch cancelling a global thing and not a bowser only tech.

Edit: He also has a fast Up-B out of shield, bowser bomb is now comboable.

I'm curious now why DJNintendo said bowser was terrible, considering he's a bowser main. The invitational bowser must have been incredibly different or something.

Yeah I'm starting to think the 3ds build was a bit farther along or something because I can't imagine that version of Bowser being close to terrible

I believe the leak, however, has it ever been explicitly stated that those are all the remaining newcomers? He did miss Rosalina, meaning the leak could just be what he knows or wants to share.

I think you're looking at this the wrong way, its just as likely they confirmed her before he had a chance to leak her. After all he leaked pac man before e3 2013 and he wasn't shown off until a year later, likewise he leaked x/y pokemon a day before the smash direct. Clearly the leaker has no idea when the characters will officially be revealed, but does have access either to internal documents/marketing material or access to builds of the game that have more characters in them then the ones we've seen at e3

I can do a bit of a write up about what all the characters are like and what potential they have in terms of combos if anyone wants, those VGBC videos are incredibly helpful.

If there's one good thing about this whole E3 ordeal, it's that we were able to get footage of just a person showing what each character can do without being thrown into a 4 player FFA with items for two minutes.

Yeah. The first leak was just original E3 plans, Rosalina was just revealed before he sgared the rest of the roster.

Video showing Bowser's moveset and canceling dash with crouch!

Repeat for new page (in case Anura missed it):

Check out the recent Sheik video from VGBootCamp. 4:56.
Bowser looking great. Not sure what was up that made DJN decide that Bowser was bottom tier in 4. He's looking at least mid-tier to me.

The real news is that my girl Sheik is looking fucking rad. I'm glad she looks like she's still got some serious tools. That bomb in particular looks insane.

Please do! There's so much info I don't even know where to star looking for character impressions and such.

And regarding Bowser, did anyone test out if his shell has super armor? Because that would be insane(ly awesome) if true, specially since he can crawl.

Made this gif for Smashboards a while back but given the OT title, it's fitting to share it here.

Both these characters are looking very nice! Like seriously it would be great if sakurai can bring the rest of the cast up to this level

I feel we need to get on Twitter or Miiverse and make some noise about this. I know Sakurai is stubborn but it doesn't hurt to try.

I really wish people would raise a bigger stink about this.
For some reason Sakurai comes off as having this ultra-conservative "think of the children!" mindset that doesn't even exist among Nintendo's other developers who make games for a clearly younger audience. The less said about Brawl's online, the better, but even the online options for SSB4 are still ridiculously gimped compared to games like Mario Kart, let alone other fighting games...
Kind of a shame as the Miis look like the new characters I'm most looking forward to, so this decision pretty much ensures the fact that I'll never be touching With Anyone.

It's why I hope there is some way to have closed community groups that act like "with friends" without necessarily having people on your friend list. But like you said, so far the online modes he has shown have been minimal.

Those are some insane nerfs to toonlink. No double bair, no short hop bow cancel. Animation still continues for bomb/arrow/boomerang upon landing. Down air doesn't bounce anymore, it just goes straight to the ground, no matter what, which means you can't use it off the stage anymore for any reason. His biggest buff seems to be his hookshot. Using it as an air attack seems to have hardly any punishment and using it as a throw has way less punishment than before. That and his tether is insane :)

We'll see, but I have a feeling toon link will no longer be my main.

This might potentially be unfair to brawl players or the game in general, but what I'm most hopeful about for smash 4 in terms of getting more movement options back again is player style.

In Brawl, there was so little you could do with each character and you had so little control with them that the players often used the exact same tactics for certain characters, because they just didn't have options, or the other options they had were objectively worse.

In melee you can tell the difference between M2K, Ken and KDJ's marth, you can tell whether it's Lord or Hax playing falcon simply because there wasn't always only one good option available at all times and I think this was just one of the reasons brawl was a bad spectator game compared to melee.

Now we've got faster movement and true combos back, we just need those extra options that allow players to really inject their style of play into a character.

I can't wait to try out Sheik, looks so awesome, watch the rest of the video. I'm gonna bring attention to the Master Ball: http://youtu.be/Clc5U2DKzsU?t=4m15s

So yea, the Master Ball is there and we haven't seen it before I believe. Has anyone seen the Master Ball ever in the Wii U version? I haven't seen it and have seen Arceus come out of a normal Poké Ball in the Wii U version footage.

I think this can be proof that the 3DS version is ahead in terms of development.

It's in the invitational, let me try to find it.

Re: Items

Brawl was actually played with some items on at Evo 2008. A random 14 year old who'd never been to a tournament before beat Ken and was never really heard from again.

Edit: Turns out somebody already brought this up
Isn't one of the main reasons items are looked down upon as a competitive aspect because of them actually trying to allow it once the year Brawl was at EVO and the Grand Finals being a complete washout? The winner was a complete unknown, he wasn't a necessarily great player and he managed to beat Ken almost entirely thanks to items.

I remember the community backlash the guy got for the win. Poor guy was only 14 at the time and it was his first competitive appearance.

Interesting.
There is also stuff like Peach missing (one of the first characters revealed after E3 2013), crunch time ahead!

Pic of the day. Here are some weapons the Mii Swordfighter can use: Shurikens of Light, Chakrams, and Gale Strikes. You can control the direction the Chakram is thrown, or even make it stall in midair. The Chakram is also the only one of these tied to the side special move, so you can use one of the other items consecutively with this one.

The more I see, the more I'm sure I don't want to play as a Mii character because reasons.

I predict that we will get some kind of moveset discussion or item tomorrow morning! :)

I called it! :)

I haven't posted in a Smash thread for a while (general business combined with E3), but holy crap I'm excited. I think the game looks great in the videos I've seen, but I'm still catching up on all the news.

Does anyone have a list of any items/assist trophies that were confirmed over the last week? I saw the Magnus video, but is there anything else?

It's in OP. I had Lists section for people to catching up.

I really like the update. I think I would go with Chakram or Gale Strikes.

I'm getting the feeling that those "pros" are just people who use the exploits of the game like there's no tomorrow and not people who are legitimately good at the game. Which is why they don't like Brawl or Smash 4 - they cannot use their exploits in it.

I think my kids would enjoy the game more than I would have. I just want to learn more about this franchise.

I'm pretty sure that I saw master balls few times on Wii U version. I'm not sure but I think I saw it at tournament innovational or stream. (It could be youtube because I watched so many times that I don't remember)

Sorry yeah, I thought you were saying that items negate skill. I agree that with items on the better player will usually win
Does anyone ever argue that they completely negate skill? Realistically they just increase the size of the error bars.

Do you know what you can't turn off individually, though? Capsules.

Do you know what has a chance of being a random explosive that can kill you if it happens to spawn at an unfavourable time? Capsules.

You can turn off the item containers in Brawl.

I watched the video. Kid's alright (dodged Marth's final smash) but the amount of items spawning next to him was a bit OTT

Which is why they should offer a Battlefield variety along with a Final Destination one. And before people give me beef for this again over misunderstanding, I literally mean keep the base and platform, not keep the base and add platforms in the exact same configuration as Battlefield. I'm only using the name to follow the naming convention of Final Destination mode since it is the neutral stage with platforms.

The closest thing would be to ask of a Boss toggle that lets you get rid of Boss characters if you want.

We've yet to see bosses other than the Yellow Devil though, and I'm beginning to wnder if there actually are any others. Ridley showing up on Pyrosphere to spew flames or claw at someone falls more in line with a typical hazard, especially if he's just going to be airborne the whole time, and we haven't even seen the Dark Emperor do anything on Find Mii yet.

Maybe the Yellow Devil's the only actual boss?

Even if that were true the Yellow Devil should still be able to be turned off because he is way too frequent. Even if he's killed he comes right back just as fast.

I agree, since Wily Castle looked fun with the Crash Man platforms and it's stupid if you never get a chance to even use them.

You can do the same thing in Brawl. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say you watch/follow Melee a lot more closely than you do Brawl. That might have something to do with you being able to distinguish play styles between in the games.

I can't imagine Lucas getting cut if Ike made it back.
I refuse to believe that Lucas, of all veterans, would be cut. I just can't fathom how anyone on the SSB team could look at the Brawl roster and say "Hmm, so you know who shouldn't make it into the next roster? Lucas. But Toon Link is okay. And three Star Fox characters is absolutely perfect. But no Lucas, no one likes him."

Let's count the games they've been in, not counting SSB:

Lucas:
1? M3

Ike:
3? PoR, RD, A

Toon Link:
7? TWW, TWWHD, FS, FSA, MC, PH, ST

Falco:
6? SF, SF64, SF643D, SFAdv, SFAs, SFC

Wolf:
4? SF64, SF643D, SFAs, SFC

Now let's count the games those characters will likely appear in, in the future, not counting SSB:

Lucas:
0 (Series creator says series is over)

Ike:
1 (Seen in Shin-Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem trailer)

Toon Link:
Several (Very popular series)

Falco and Wolf:
A few at least (Quite popular series)

Seems fair to me.

6, Four Swords and FSA. Both of Tingle's games use a similar art style as well, but that probably doesn't count.

Either way Toon Link is the most recurring Link design at this point, even with only one true outing.

Yeah I went back and thought about it and I count 7 if you include TWWHD.

Anyway, Krystal has been playable in more games than Lucas, SF Adventures and Command :p

So this just came to me, and I can't find any posts via searching asking about it, so lemme ask: Do you think the customized move sets will give Mega Man more Robot Master powers? And if so, what do you see being the other options?

My predictions:
Neutral: Metal Blade/Ring Boomerang/Gyro Attack
Up: Rush Coil/Item-1/Wire
Side: Crash Bomber/Drill Bomb/Napalm Bomb
Down: Leaf Shield/Junk Shield/Star Crash

They never use them and it shows.

I watch videos of these competitive scene people demoing the game and the Invitational and I'm just thinking: "How can a person who considers themselves among the best at this game be so terrible with items?"
Terrible with items or not caring to use them? Understand that these competitive players who went in to play this game are testing multiple aspects of it, not just to play the game. Remember, the demos were only 2 minutes long and the same applies even for stock matches.
I'm getting the feeling that those "pros" are just people who use the exploits of the game like there's no tomorrow and not people who are legitimately good at the game. Which is why they don't like Brawl or Smash 4 - they cannot use their exploits in it.
Posts like these are just as cancerous as the ones that say Brawl fanboys are shit.

Seriously, the ignorance of competitive Smash from the eyes of a "casual" is quite disappointing. Not everyone who wants to the next Smash to be a legitimate contender to 64/Melee is a piece of crap elitist, just like not everyone who loves Brawl hates the competitive scene. People are crazy man..

Really? Last time I heard that there are good amount of DLC characters that are playable in FE:A

Roy, Ike, Marth, Leaf, etc.

Ike having an alleged descendant with a map dedicated to him in the main game also gave him a little more acknowledgment compared to the Outrealm-only characters.
