Spain might be the greatest international side of all time. the Netherlands game was far more impressive than this. both were very impressive though.

Nah they aren't. They're not really a team. Messi plays for himself and no one dares to scold him. A team like Germany can easily hold the midfield and cut off the supply to their strikeforce.

With that goalie and defense, and perhaps midfield you're not going to win a world cup nowadays.

Don't think they'll face each other until a final. The way the keys are structured, semis could be Brazil-Germany, Argentina-Netherlands.

Brazil has a seriously tough path to the finals, if things stay as they are and Spain goes second with Netherlands winning group, first knockout stage for Brazil would be against Spain, then Quarters I think against Italy and then semis against Germany, that's really tough.

You aren't proving your expertise by using his time at Hull as an example. That was 5 years ago and he was 19 then.

Germany left Portugal in pieces.
That early goal and Pepe being an idiot pretty much ended the match.

Spain. Germany has a good team and we expected quite a bit from them. Beating Portugal wasn't a shock. Holland beating Spain like that was completely unexpected.

Argentina have too many really good forwards to not at least be considered a serious contender. their defense/GK/midfield, etc. aren't really that much worse than outside contenders like the Netherlands, and they don't have Messi.

But the defence and the midfield suck. Argentina was a better team some years ago, but people like Samuel, Cambiasso and Zanetti at their prime didn't get a chance to play for the national team for god only know what reasons.

You can only field 2 forwards or so. Higuain and Lavezzi don't play because of Messi, Aguero and Di Maria.

Based on yesterday, and past World Cups, I'm glad we don't have Messi. He's too dominant in the squad. Team chemistry will win the world cup. Much like Spain and Italy without a player like Messi.

Germany almost always beat them. Brazil and Italy can do so too. Holland can beat them as well, and it wouldn't be the first time either. Have Argentina ever reached a semifinal after 1990?

The line up looks pretty good and we have a decent chance of defeating Nigeria. No doubt.
 
What has portugal won in the last decade (or in history anyway)?
They are a b level european team, people cant compare them with what spain has done in the last six years.
Of course netherlands win was far more impressive and upsetting.
