I don't want to get in the beta for risk of burning out on it before it even comes out, there is a place where we will all meet again, The Tower in September
#Warlock4lyfe!
Same here, I did get an invite at one point from Yashin but I was just about to log off. My PSN is Sushimonster85 btw, I am not one of those forward thinking folk who have the same name on here as they do on PSN. I think I have a few of you already thanks to TrialsGAF.
This is where I stand as well. Though does anyone know if beta progress carries over into release? That would ultimately make my decision easier*
*Will likely preorder anyway
Early access done fucking right. First off, huge kudos for offering such large amount of content in a public alpha - not only was there a good amount of weapons to be found, but also all major gameplay modes from free roaming to strike missions and PvP were available from the getgo. Everything can be selected quite fast from the Orbit which basically is nothing more than a glorified menu structure but boy it does add to the feeling of being part of the Destiny universe.
In general, I was surprised how amazingly streamlined this game is. The controls always gave me the feeling of being in full control - tap Triangle to switch between primary/secondary weapons, hold Triangle for your heavy weapon; crouch with Circle, slide by pressing Circle while running and so on. It felt very tight, even though I think the aim assist is a tad too much and that there should be a way to cancel a jetpack jump. And features like allowing you to switch to the Orbit whenever you please with one button press or summon your personal vehicle with a single button press as well felt so well implemented that I used these features a lot. It all feels very organically put together, not tacked on, which is important for a game like this which you play for some time.
Also, the whole UI design is fantastic. It is rich in depth but yet very simple; you can show up the equipment screen at any time, even during NPC conversations which makes buying stuff much easier and convenient. I know not everybody likes to move that circle cursor and I think Bungie should give those people a alternative option, but personally I liked it and it didn't feel it was slowing me down.
The gameplay itself was a lot more fun than I've imagined: I really expected to see something that other studios have already done in the past, but Bungie pulls it off much better. Instead of finding loot around every single fucking corner and kind of forcing you to look at it in the menus and compare it to your current equipment and therefore wasting your time loot is rather rare to find and if you do it very often is a item that you actually need. And all that search takes place in a world with dozens of pathways, allowing you to explore and experiment a lot. There is always something going on around every corner, no matter if there are enemies fighting each other or fighting players or even global random events taking place; in my case it was a huge spider-like robot boss that came out of nowhere with a army of enemies, and luckily a few other players were around. Playing co-op feels great since it strikes the right balance between lone-wolf-play and teamplay, just how I like it in a game like this.
And man, playing the PVP mode was when I was ultimately sold on this game. First round took place on the Moon, and I had such a blast playing this. Calling your vehicle and boosting to the next flag looked like a fucking Star Wars game of my dreams - maybe with some doses of good old Halo multiplayer, but impressive nonetheless. Of course you should never judge such online mode by a alpha version alone, but it seems really promising and I haven't found any big annoying issues yet. I said it before and I said it again: Bungie is hiding a real next-gen Halo experience beneath their main game - or is it a Halo killer even?
Big plus for the visuals as well - there were very few technical issues, but all in all it ran fantastic and looked great, nothing really to complain about. There are no other skyboxes like Bungie skyboxes, and they succeeded to create the feeling of being in a huge, almost infinite landscape that lives and breathes. The only thing that stood out to me were the loading times, but it's still a alpha after all.
So yeah: I'm completely hyped for this title and hope that I'll receive a beta key in July, because man I really want to go back. Unfortunately because of other stuff I had to do I feel like I should have played even more, despite reaching the level cap, but from what I've played this is a game that every FPS player should have on their radar. This really feels like it might be a game changer and truly a evolution of the stale genre.
This is a snapshot of the days of my life.I sunk way more hours into the alpha than I have many games I've paid $60 for; also don't believe I've ever had as much fun simply playing the same area in a game before.
Was already quite excited for it (I actually enjoyed the gameplay videos they released), but the many hours spent in the alpha just put it over the top.
Had already pre-ordered at Amazon but will be canceling and going with the PSN version thanks to the pre-loading. Want to play the game as soon as it becomes available; taking a bit of a gamble though as Amazon often delivers new releases on Monday. I'm going to just operate under the assumption that Destiny wouldn't arrive until after noon on the 9th.
Got over 30GB of my gameplay saved on PS4 though, and yes I will be watching them a few times between now and the beta.
So if I am a lone wolf for everything but multiplayer, this game isn't for me? Looks very mmoish from the screenshots.
I was a lone wolf for the vast majority of this Alpha and will probably lone wolf on my first character in the full game. This is still my most anticipated game of the year right now. Don't let the 'mmo'-elements scare you off.So if I am a lone wolf for everything but multiplayer, this game isn't for me? Looks very mmoish from the screenshots.
The experience is certainly enhanced with friends or other players, but I spent many an hour lone wolfing it and still had a blast. Whilst the game also tends toward more MMO-ish aspects (quest, hubs, social spaces, etc) it doesn't mean it doesn't cater toward the single player experience.
The best test would be to try the beta when it launches in July - That way you can make sure it isn't money going to waste on something that doesn't meet your needs!
I've played only around 6 hours of the Alpha [MP doesent interest me] with just one charachter [Titan], but I had the blast.

Cant wait for beta. There I will focus more on Warlock.
OT but will Destiny beta on PS4 require PS+?
PSI tempus III ?

I imagine you can disable co-op like in Borderlands.
It's going to be a long month. I really liked what I played. I mostly did Patrol and ran around hoping for a public event. The first couple of days, nobody could take down Devil Walkers, but we we were killing them in a couple of minutes by the end. I also noticed that the Strike bosses went down much faster in the last day. The bosses aren't so bullet spongy if you know where you should be shooting them.
I also just wanted to point out that music that plays in the Tower that sounds like your neighbor playing piano on a quiet day. It's so hauntingly familiar. I just love that.
I leveled all 3 classes to 8. I think Hunter is the best class. It has a Star Wars bounty hunter kind of look and the double jump is my favorite jump of the 3. My 2nd favorite is the Titan. They're basically Master Chief. Warlocks are not bad, but they're my least favorite of the 3. They're kind of the Jedi of Destiny. I don't like their melee special and their jump isn't as good as the other 2.
It's going to be a long month.

Thanks guys. I am anti-social when it comes to experiencing new worlds and stories - and never play a new game co-op first time through. Definitely will be trying out the beta.
What's a fun class to start with? Anything underpowered that I should be aware of?
Is everyone that was in the Alpha gonna be invited to the Beta on July 17th? Or is the Beta only for people who pre-order the game?
looks like my rifle.
Probably a dumb question, but will the final version graphics look even better than in the Alpha ? If so Wow!
same best gun ever
this gun fits perfectly with my style of gameplay , a good balance between power, rate, range.
very effective in domination

I only played Hunter class during the Alpha, so I'm probably not the best barometer for class differences.
Hunter has some great abilities (Swarm Grenades, that Super Charged Pistol, Double or Triple Jumps and throwing knives(the knife is a pretty prominent tool for the hunter as you can use it for stealth takedowns and general combat))
They get some cool gear in the form of cloaks, but their speciality is more stealth gameplay and precision gunplay.
If you were looking to go solo, this is probably the class to do so as Bungie described the Hunter as reminiscent of Bounty Hunter type characters or rogue-ish heroes such as Han Solo.
Hopefully someone else can fill in about the other two classes.
I think I have a bad case of PDD ( Post Destiny Depression ) I sit and stare at my PS4. Even Booting the alpha to see the the title screen. I know she is gone but I can't believe it. Just one more strike mission? Please.
It's okay, Panda. There is literally only a month before the beta starts!
PDD... lol. Yup pretty much what I have.
Stack of games I have looks boring as fuck now, I have not got the motivation to play them right now. Thanks Bungie.
What are the details on this game? Is there a monthly fee? Is it a total loot fest or are there lots if micro transactions like war frame? Or...do you buy it once and it's yours to play?
PSI Tempus III, represent!
Yeah, I believe that was an option to choose from - Though the settings I chose were just to open it to the public. More fun bumping into people when roaming the wilds of Old Russia!
Yes! Bungie confirmed that![]()
Any link to that ?
