Pre-order it on Amazon, get the code, then cancel the pre-order.

I levelled out, was pretty good and it looks like there's a lot of variety in missions. Looking forward to it after not thinking too much of it.

Is it okay that I'm nearly as excited for all the web based stat tracking that Bungie will be doing for Destiny, as I am for the game itself?

I'll miss the hub world, seeing all the random players gathering equipment and supplies ready for battle. At least for a month anyway, then i'll see it all again.
I didn't do too much exploring, just stuck to the same areas as to not spoil things for myself when the release arrives in September. I'll probably do the same in the beta as well, unless characters cross over this time around then who knows. Will it be the full game for the beta, or another small percentage like the Alpha (i'd prefer that option).
Anywho, PSN is Jimbob-NE. Feel free to add ready for July 17th

Brilliant alpha, Just jump in for a few hours, Do what u want and go about your day, Got what i could out of the alpha, Think the PvP needs some balancing, But really just cant wait for the beta now.

No , you have to preorder the game for a beta key.
I enjoyed reading along with all your impressions in the alpha thread, thanks to the contributors in it! Seemed like an incredible experience for all involved. The more I've seen of Destiny (even the goofy GB quicklook had me pretty excited) the more I think it will be the title that has me splashing out for a new console nearer the end of the year.

I think a lot if people missed this 7 minute video released at E3. Makes the wait for the beta harder.

Now I've really started feeling withdrawal. I want to play this game but I also want Bungie to have as much time as needed to implement changes based on user feedback. So many good ideas have been suggested in the official feedback forum.

My group of friends all got into the Alpha. I think some of us where skeptical it would be good; all of us came away very impressed and ready to preorder immediately.
My one complaint: Fire teams only 3 people is a bit prohibitive for socializing with your buds.
