Hello soccer GAF. I'm not really a fan of the sport or watch very much of it,
i watched Italy / England on Saturday and it was your typical back and forth with someone flopping to the ground every two minutes acting like they need their leg amputated. and I watched the second half of Mexico / Brazil today and it was like a totally different sport!

Mexico plays very hard! they were sliding into people, grabbing and throwing people on the ground and even jumping right on top of people, the best part was NO FLOPPING! players on both sides were getting knocked down and jumping right back up. it was great to see people really playing instead of trying to draw fouls every chance they got.

is the flopping more of a European thing? where north/south American teams play rougher?
what do the Asian teams play like?

i'm definitely going to be watching more matches during the world cup.

wut

Bizarre interpretation of the relative amount of play-acting in both games

It's an everywhere thing. People will try to say their team doesn't do it, and some other team does.

Don't believe them. Everyone does it at annoying levels.

Even the USA in the past decade or so... :(

I honestly can't wait either way. Germany destroyed Portugal and holland destroyed Spain so I'm hoping so hard they meet.

I wanna see some real tough matches in the knock outs. Since Ghana are pretty much fucked I'm pretty much a neutral now and it's beautiful.

I am pretty much a neutral for all these other games, and it is pretty interesting. I sort of get frustrated when we have games like Iran and Nigeria, or Ecuador and Switzerland though. It is nice having a team to support and want to score or win, but that sort of game, I don't mind either way how they go. Kind of disappointing.

That said, I always get a chance to root against certain teams, which is fantastic. The hardest thing in the world though, is when I have a game like Spain-Netherlands, where I hate both teams, ha. World Cup has been delivering though, so it is whatever.

Unbelievable. Is it an option for a team to just walk of the pitch?

Also, I asked this before, but the thread was moving very fast. Which WC was it when an African team was afraid of losing because of their harsh dictator?

All I know is that Mussolini threatened Italian players back in 38.
