We've also released our first "published" game - Birzzle Fever. It's a pretty casual puzzler, but you might end up enjoying it too :)

You guys heard of Urara Works and Skipmore? Seems like these guy shave made a ton of free, small iOS games that at the very least make good time wasters. http://www.skipmore.com/

I played Fairune a while ago and found it to be a surprisingly well-made adventure game.

I do not remember if it was already staten, but...and this is coming from someone that simply HATES tilt controls with a passion....Tilt to Live 2 Redonkoulus is simply FANTASTIC.

Could be the perfect game for a NeoGAF challenge.

My only issue with it is I can't seem to get it to work while laying in bed. I think the tilt controls expect you to be sitting up at least.

Personally, I love the sense of progression. That said, I bought the star doubler and remove ads IAPs, so I consider this a $4 premium game. The 5000 stars iap helps a lot if you don't want to bother with the slow start.
I don't see an purchase option in Sky Force at all. Am I missing something? I'd like to kill the ads.

I think you have to use the custom settings for that but I didn't tried (tried it with the original Tilt to Live and I seem to remember it worked)....I'm forcing myself to play sit with it now.

Anyway, great game...when you start amassing combos it's simply great.
A special mention for bosses and the Sith Lightsaber...SO EPIC.

The Brimstone Pinball new mode is even better than that. Tons of fun and awe.

I thought Band Stars was your first third party published game?

Band Stars is a bit different - built using Halfbrick's tools and engine but created down in Adelaide. More like how Halfbrick Sydney works. Birzzle (and Yes Chef) are more a publishing role, though we do give a lot of feedback to help improve as we can.

Anyone play that new Autumn Dynasty Warlords? It looks really fun and only $4.99 for another day. Just curious if anyone has some feedback on it.

Anybody playing Family Guy? Heh.

I'm still playing Star Wars Force Collection too.

Tried to get into it, but found it far more irritating than the Simpsons game. Something about it just made it feel so... cheap and a complete money grab, much more so than the already cheap and complete money grab that is Simpsons Tapped Out.

It's too bad because at this stage I enjoy watching Family Guy more than Simpsons.

I enjoy Family Guy more than The Simpsons too, which is why I am okay tolerating the game's BS to get to the funny and surprisingly up-to-date jokes. Just saw Peter talking about Dumb and Dumber To.

I'm really enjoying Sky Force! I haven't enjoyed a shmup as much as this since Gradius V or Silvergun. This isn't better, but it is excellent, and it suits iOS really well. The slow motion when you lift your finger is such a smart technique.

The upgrade system has me divided, as it's hard to know whether it's even possible to beat the levels until your upgrades kick in.

I love the little guys you have to hover over to collect! I've never seen this before in any shmup.

Fans of shmups on iOS, can you recommend any other titles? I don't like CAVE games, and barely played ESPgaluda2.

You have to spend 1000 stars in the shop before the option shows up. It's pretty weird, yeah.
That's a really interesting tactic. I've never seen a game do that before, so I wonder whether they're trying to get players used to the idea of repeating content.

any impression on Pocket Harvest yet? I generally like Kairosoft games, but they can be hit or miss, so I like to wait for impressions before diving in. Does look like it could be a good one though.

Nobody playing Sky Force 2014? Really great shmup.

I've really been enjoying it and was surprised it hadn't been mentioned in the shmup thread yet. That said I'm getting deep into the game now and am finding a bunch of the game is locked behind a "social wall" if you will.

I can't access stage seven until another 60,000 (!) players get that far (c'mon guys!) and the mission mode is locked until you sync your Facebook account which has to have five friends who also play Sky Force.

That has to be my number one pet peeve with the iOS platform; developers have Game Centre has a perfectly valid option for social ties but opt for Facebook instead. It's an obvious data grab and a disservice to gamers on the platform.

BAM BAM BAM, RELOAD! Does this sound familiar to You? If You ever been to an arcade, then You probably met with lightgun games. We too loved playing them, but nowadays we miss these stuff. That's why we decided to revitalize this genre, by utilizing the touch screen. Because lightgun games are so responsive and asking for concentration, our best choice was nothing else, but to reach the most immersive and easiest gameplay we could get. Mad Bullets is all about that: smart, fun to play, and by offering progression, it never gets boring. In fact, there is no annoying paywall in the game, so You can still have a lot of fun, even if You don't pay for the required materials.

You can face the instantly accessible controlling from the moment You start the game. Just tap the screen to shoot the bad guys or the environment, and if You run out of bullets, then RELOAD! This makes it such an iOS shooter, where every (mad) bullet counts, but leaves the yet known controlling frustration from previous iOS shooting games. And that's not everything: hit the barrel, shoot the panels of the house to get extra points, make headshots, SURVIVE the mini games, and most of all, face the heavier enemies, in the most various scenes. Get the feeling? It's like making a flawless remix from a well known song hit! We wanted to make an appropriate lightgun game on one of the most popular platform, to familiarize the new generation gamers this exciting genre!

When is it out ? (Mad Bullets). Love this type of game and it looks great - was ready to buy now but it just says "Summer" in the trailer.

Guys! Cartoon Network just released Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville (released back in March on Steam). It's made by Radiangames (makers of Ballistic, Fireball, Inferno+, JoyJoy) and it's a shmup + Metroidvania game. The game simplifies the genre to the very basic but it's pretty fun.

Worth $4, and you can play with classic or modern visual style.

For all the people sick of playing Ascension :))) this looks absolutely STUNNING.

Pocket Tactics preview

I loved Ascension but after years of playing it no stop I got sick of it.
Awesome game but I never really liked the graphical style and more important I always felt it was more a solitaire rush than real 'battle' against an opponent.

This seems to address everything.

Praying for a Coding Monkey level of polish and robust async multiplayer.

How is VVVVVV?
It's excellent. Here are my impressions from a few pages back:
VVVVVV drops you onto a weird alien environment, one of few survivors of a crash landing that leaves your fellow crew members scattered across the world. In that aspect, VVVVVV already separates itself from most precision platformers: it's non-linear. Actually it's almost in the vein of a Metroidvania; you travel to different areas, find teleporters that let you jump around the map or back to a central hub. Each area offers its own unique challenge, a twist on the core mechanics

At its core, besides the truly challenging gameplay, that diversity is what makes VVVVVV so much fun. Mechanically, the game is so simple: move left, move right, and jump. Well not actually a jump, but rather a reversal of gravity that lets you navigate from floor to ceiling and vice versa. You can't switch gravity mid-jump (although you can control your movement) so each switch must be deliberate.

Yet from such simple controls, VVVVVV crafts such a wide range of challenges, hazards to avoid, and interesting scenarios. From the ubiquitous spikes to moving enemies, from barriers that switch your gravity orientation in mid-air, to utilizing screen wrap, VVVVVV takes its precision platfomer roots and not only delivers on that front, but also creates head-scratching puzzles and challenges to overcome

If you know Terry Cavanagh, you know what kind of experience to expect from VVVVVV. Brutally challenging, stylish with a chunky retro aesthetic, a fantastic soundtrack, and a polished game that will surely make you want to throw your device across the room.

Perhaps what's so surprising about VVVVVV on IOS is how responsive and precise the controls are, much better than I would have anticipated

If that kind of experience appeals to you, then VVVVVV is a must buy. You won't be disappointed

Just got an email from Paypal offering 20% of a iTunes digital gift card. Pick up a $50 card. Time to do some shopping. Maybe some VVVVV and Pocket Harvest to start.

Whoever hasn't played Kero Blaster (why would you that to yourself?) can now download Pink Hour for free. You should play it even if you did play Kero Blaster to be honest :P It's a prologue, it gives you a taste of the gameplay in Kero Blaster:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id885002938

Pink Hour was only available on PC before, cool that they ported it to iOS too.

Damn, if there was a link to mad bullets I'd probably download it. But if you get banned for self-promotion then I'll probably forget by the time it comes out.

Sky Force just convinced me to buy my first ever coin doubler. The fact that they hid the IAP option for a good long while helped me respect that there was more to the game design than trying to fleece me.

I'm in the Star Realms beta (as a kickstarter backer), but I haven't found anyone online yet. So if anyone else is in the beta, feel free to send a challenge to me (IGN: Brakara).

What are some good multiplayer games to play on iPad on one device? Anything from two people to maybe three or four? We like to play just about anything, board games especially.

Also Wayward Souls is so hard and speaking of Wayward Souls, any way to sync my save between iPhone and iPad?

Having a blast with Dungeon Gems and Uppercut Football right now. Pleasantly surprised at the games released today besides Godfire!

Hi guys! Just bought an iPad mini 2, I'm interested in FTL and Hitman GO. Would you recommend them (for my device)?

Any iOS gems that I should be aware of ?
