Spurs players lol. Can't believe they had to be seperated by a Weeaboo.

Exactly 3.00 goals a game now. 60 in 20. Let's keep it up Brazil. GOAT World Cup.

the collapse of Barcelona and Spain (and, in particular, their way of dominating games via monopolizing possession) directly coincided with Xavi's decline. I hate the cunt but there's no denying that he was the key member of this squad. More than anything, this team simply has not been able to keep the ball the way they did in 2010 or even in 2012 (when the cracks were beginning to show) and Xavi's obviously plays a huge role in that.

Xavi deserved the Ballon d'or in 2010. Easy to say that Messi is the best player on the planet, and he probably is, but Xavi was the single most important player in two of the best sides of all time.

Absolutely.

Although you also thought Drogba should have won the 2012 one and Demba Ba should have won the 2013/14/15/16 one ;)

Cameroon started the game playing waay to aggressively. Even started fighting amongst themselves.

Croatia vs Mexico is gonna be good. Cheering for Croatia!

Disaster of a team i told you guys. Not even a week before the world cup and majority of the team didn't even want to take the plane to Brazil because they didn't get paid.

Obviously this team was screwed from the get go.
Teammates fighting against themselves lol. As I said I doubt Eto'o was injured, he just didn't want to play. Why did Song do that? He probably didn't really give a rats ass. Shameful team.

Cameroon doesn't suck. They played poorly and completely gave up before the 1st half ended. Eto'o would have showcased the team in a better light if he was able to play.

What is better for the sport of soccer, having a team like Canada, even if they aren't great, or possibly having New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji etc.

Keep in mind the growth of MLS in Canada as well. I think the OFC should just be rolled into the AFC altogether, especially without Australia there now.

OFC nations would get completely swallowed up by AFC nations.

Australia should have never left the OFC.

That Ekoto is an idiot, why the hell did he do that? Did that player do something

In the previous play Ekoto was unmarked to the right of him walking and waiting for the ball while he tried to feint 2 Croatians at the same. He failed and lost the ball to a goal kick.

Sneijder was robbed.

Fuck group A final games will be awesome, hoping that Cameroon can pull the upset, while the Mex/Cro game gonna sweet, gonna be flipping between both games, hopefully i can watch them..

So do you guys think Tiki Taka is officially dead? Or the players are just too old and it's still a viable strategy? I think the whole thing really hinged on Xavi+Iniesta playing perfectly, but also Puyol holding the defense together. I mean they won almost every game last WC 1-0, they have never been a scoring juggernaut. Seems like it was a really fine line between being best in the world and getting blown out by their peers.

Nah, and I say that as someone who hates it while admiring it, it's as viable as any other tactic but relying on it 100% of the time ain't great.

I think you're right in saying that the key players are older and can't keep up with it anymore, but I also think that the Spanish players have been playing at full pelt for their clubs/national team for 6 years straight with little breaks and that's gonna catch up with them sooner or later. The lack of bringing in youth despite it existing compounds the issue further, very questionable squad choices as well (Torres lol).

Either way, Spain had a good run and have so much talent still that while this will be a horrible memory for them, they have loads to look forward to as well.

Getting flashbacks to France 2010 here. That was pretty much a disgrace for Cameroon. That 12-6 elbow towards Mandzukic, no teamwork, headbutting teammates, quarreling on the pitch. Unforgivable.

I get the feeling in the next World Cup, CONCACAF will have a guaranteed 4th team in the tournament and playoffs will be needed to determine if there will be 5 CAF teams or 4 because only the Ivory Coast are impressing for Africa right now.
If Blatter and Platini get their wish, CAF will actually get 7 guaranteed spots in the future (2 additional ones with the expansion to 40 teams).

Yeah, I know. :/
