Benoit ASSAULT-Ekotto.

Sneijder was robbed.

would've taken either of them over Messi tbh. key player in Inter's champions league victory and a world cup final (though he didn't play quite as well as his 5 goals suggested; literally all of them were tap-ins or deflections iirc) or leading Spain to a world cup

Ghana were rubbish against the US.

Nigeria vs Iran. worst game of the tournament.

Ghana was outplaying the US, but US was the better team imo. The problem with Ghana was the Goalie and the Defence. Coach was also dumb for omitting Boateng from the starting roster. Still it was a good game and USA deserved to win no excuses.

Also USA is not as bad as everyone makes them out to be imo. They are good.

Getting flashbacks to France 2010 here. That was pretty much a disgrace for Cameroon. That 12-6 elbow towards Mandzukic, no teamwork, headbutting teammates, quarreling on the pitch. Unforgivable.

If Blatter and Platini get their wish, CAF will actually get 7 guaranteed spots in the future (2 additional ones with the expansion to 40 teams).

Yeah, I know. :/

In fairness to France at least their players never fought each other ON the field.

In hindsight, HOW did Cameroon even make it? Libya or Tunisia would not be breaking doors down but at least you would not see this happening with players on those teams.

Cameroon got alot of potential, nearly as much as Ghana.
They've got a coach who got alot of experience with african players for quite some time.

The difference is, they got a fucking terrible federation and NO team spirit.
Alot of small groups within the team that don't fucking care and so on.

Exactly 3.00 goals a game now. 60 in 20. Let's keep it up Brazil. GOAT World Cup.

Absolutely.

Although you also thought Drogba should have won the 2012 one and Demba Ba should have won the 2013/14/15/16 one ;)

2012 should've been:

1) Drogba (obv)
2) Pirlo (only got to the Euros final, didn't win it)
3) Demba Ba (leading Newcastle to the CL promised land, almost)

I wonder if Diego Costa regrets his decision to play for Spain.

Spain is loaded with talent. Costa probably isn't fit. Even with this disaster of a tournament, Spain is still very strong and a better team than Brazil on paper (who haven't exactly impressed at this tournament either)

If Cameroon manages to pull a miracle and defeat Brazil and Croatia x Mexico draw, Brazil is done for.

That won't happen. Being fair, Brazil almost decimated Mexico if not for the 8A (the GK). Cameroon won't have that luxury.

If Mexico had played Cameroon with 10 players, I'm sure the score would have been close to this.

Croatia Tying with Mexico is the most likely outcome

Ivory coast?

perennial chokers. Ghana have progressed from the group stage the past few WCs and were absurdly close to being the first African team to make it to a world cup semifinal. the Ivory Coast golden generation hasn't won anything iirc and has yet to progress from their group at any world cup (albeit they've been given very difficult draws and they could well progress this year)

I guess in the long run Costa's choice might be a good one. He will probably be on a contending team for euro 2016 and if he doesn't suck 4 years from now he will be on a younger but still talented version of Spain. But if Brazil win it all, that's gotta suck for him.

Nobody actually plays in the ACoN lol. It's a worthless cup.

what

I didn't see Cameroon players headbutting each other in the last African Cup, it seems as though they take it more seriously than a World Cup. I can't see how you can make a comment like this if you actually watch it...

Cameroon were lucky in qualifying when they lost on the pitch to Togo but they still got the three points thanks to Togo fielding an ineligible player. They've been on a downhill slope for a long time now and their group has huge problems as seen in today's game. Players just don't give a fuck anymore.

Ghana were not rubbish they just couldn't finish, they had dominant posession for 70 minutes
Ghanaian coach was the moron in all this really. Why any sane coach would bench two of his best players and let a young guy who barely cuts it at Marseille start is still beyond me. Jordan fucking Ayew ahead of Prince Boateng and Essien ? Still trying to wrap my head around it.

Surely you did not see the match that just ended.

I saw it, after the Red Card Cameroon fell apart, but even while down 1 goal they looked the better team, more possession, more chances, and IMO they were in command of the game even though they were down a goal, red card killed them, Brazil hasn't look great this cup, and as i said i hoping for a upset didn't predict one..

Essien is shit now.
