Puto is not kid in spanish, at least not in Mexico. It is just a token derogatory term that yes, sometimes can be homophobic in meaning, but not always. Sometimes it is just interchangeable with other terms in a string of insults.
For example calling someone a pinche puto cabrón is just a way of insulting someone, not necessarily calling him a fag. All three words are pretty much just insults.
It could also mean "coward", or like someone else pointed out, if used in the feminine form it could mean bitch, whore or whatever hurtful thing you'd want it to mean, really. If you say something like: "Mi puta suerte" it just can be translated to My fucking luck for example.
Here puta means whore too, but puto mean kid. Many kids make the mistake of thinking they can use puta as a female form of puto and end up being punished for that.

In the mashed up mess that is spanish all around NYC, I've only ever heard puto(and puta) used in a manner that you can pretty much just translate it to words like shit, fuck, and bitch, bitch in particular. Can safely say I've learned something today.

We arrived in Canada in the late 70s and all Portuguese here use puto as manwhore.

I know that we can't use the word ''bicha'' anymore for lines or queues because the Brazilian meaning today = gay. So people just use the word ''fila'' now for line-ups.

I still use bicha but you have to use it in the context or people will think that you talking about gays.
Puto is mostly used in Mexico, though. Puta you can use it all the time. "Puta casi era gol!" "Puta, así no juego!" "Puta, ganamos!" and it can also mean whore.

When I first moved in to NY, I learned that "pendejo" is offensive to mexicans. Hell, it even gets bleeped in Univision during prime-time novelas. In colombia, "pendejo" just means silly or dumb.

To expand on this. The guy had a mild sprain to his knee and might be able to be back for the game against Netherlands. I think a stretcher was most certainly warranted and if you see a replay in slow motion you can tell it must have hurt like hell.

Arias might be in better form, buy zuniga is the better player. Arias is more defensive, zuniga offensive.

Yea, here in Portugal "puto" means kid, but it's rare for it to be used when parents are addressing their kids. It's more of a word that's used around friends for example when we see a kid doing something stupid - "look at that fucking kid (puto)". Puto isn't something I'd call a nephew for example but it isn't as insulting as it is in the spanish language (and the different countries that use it).
EDIT: But in no way, at least since I'm born, is puto here in the north used as "manwhore". Not even my grandparents ever heard it with that meaning. I do know however that in the south it is more used, I had a couple of friends studying down there and they all started to call everyone puto out of fucking nowhere, and again, it's not insulting but it's fucking annoying.
