Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

When Destiny launch. DestinyGAF will be split up into 4 Clans/Divisions based on platform.
The admins for each platforms will help with the forum, posting threads and organize strike teams, also keeping things in order so that will be no hurts feelings and misunderstanding, etc.

I told you, we're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to be a sort of executive officer for the week, but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs, or by a two thirds majority in the case of Bungie.net affairs.
Any idea how clan tags are gonna work? Is every clan just gonna use [GAF] as their tag? And what happens if tags can't be duplicated across platforms, who gets dibs on [GAF]?

There will be a power ranking. EightBitNate will always be rank #1, and #2.. and #3...Evilore is #4.
If everything goes smoothly. Everyone will have the Clan Tag of DestinyGAF. But I cant guaranteed that. We will have to see when Bungie release more info on that.

I'm going to say this as calmly and professionally as possible. If you have any complaint take it up to Valentinus.
He and I agreed on that this table was necessary to keep track of all the admins. We had something similar going on back in DestinyGAF PS4.

Wow, the whole clan thing is getting needlessly complicated now. I'm pretty sure most of us on GAF just want to play with other GAFfers and not randoms. This whole "Primary officer, secondary officer" thing is unnecessary, in my opinion. Did you ask everyone else in the clan if it's ok to do this? And what were you going to have DestinyGAF do, play pro matches against other clans? I'm sure some of us would love to do that, but there's also some of us who just want to play casually. I'm getting real tired of this, Shadownet. I didn't say anything before when you started the second DestinyGAF. Then everything settles down and you start stepping on a lot of people's toes about making the Beta OT, OT1, OT2, etc. Now you've made a nice chart detailing who is in charge? You didn't even ask us if it was ok to do it. And why am I an EU admin? I live in California! You've created a lot of drama in a real short time, and I don't appreciate that.

No offense to all the chart people, but is this stuff going to be in a different thread than the OT so that those of us with no interest in it don't have to sift through it on every page in order to talk about the game?

I've left both groups. I only joined in the first place so I could play with GAF people, but I realize that's pretty easy to do just by adding people on PSN.

I'm really displeased that you didn't use a piechart. Time to start the DestinyGAF PieSquad Group (yes that'll be the clan tag in the game even though it is redundant to have Destiny in the name because of course you're playing Destiny. It's also redundant if you're playing the game on pie, the true ultimate current gen console). Who's in?

Well said. I've left both groups as well.
If anyone's interested, I have control of the DestinyGAF dummy account on PSN. People could friend that account and use it to look up other gaffers to play with. Just an idea.
To shift the conversation a bit back to the game itself, here's a video that gametrailers put up with some voice filters on Peter Dinklage's voice as the ghost. One of the ones didn't sound horrible (the one where it shows your ship in orbit above earth). Granted not that I took issue with the voice acting personally, but I know some found it lack luster in the alpha.
edit: actually apparently the specific case I was pointing out wasn't altered...guess that supports me not having problems with the voice work ha ha.

I don't understand why we now have officers? It's a four player Co op shooter. It's not like we can go on huge raids together. We won't be having a guild loot safe or anything. I just joined up to play with some gaffer's.

There wasn't in the alpha. I hope in full release there will be. I know it's not visible in the social hubs but I'd like mine to not be visible everywhere as well.
Although now that I think about it, there probably won't be. It'd be pretty immersion breaking to have a human breathing helmetless on Mars/Mercury/Venus.
Okay, I guess I'm fine with helmets.

This is kind of how I feel at the moment. I will keep my position for now, but I may "resign" sometime in the future if I feel the need or don't have the time for some reason. The job isn't that bad.

I'm gonna make a group called "SimpleDestinyGAFPS4" and you'll be the anti-administrator. We'll all argue about who doesn't want to control the group the most while getting into anti-feuds with "SimpleDestinyGAF" for name rights that nobody really wants anyway.

An officer is just someone in charge of a particular platform division. aka PS3, PS4. XBox..
secondary officer is just someone there in case the first officer is away at an extended time.
and an admins are just regular admins.
sigh.. once again. Valentinus, me and MMarsu to an extent spend a considerable of time talking about DestinyGAF. and that what we all came up with when agreeing to merge the two groups.
If you don't want to be in charge of the east coast, then just PM Valentinus and tell him so. No one is making you at all. Though to be honest. an admin's job would basically be pretty easy. all you have to do is just make sure no one is arguing within the group.

To be honest, the whole group thing is unnecessary at the moment. There's already a thread to discuss the game here and they haven't updated the main site yet, which means you can't apply the clan tag to your nameplate in the game... which nobody is even playing right now either.
There's such a thing as overplanning, and making a fuss about the group so early is only turning people off, myself included. I mentioned in a previous page that the whole breadth of the clan system is overwhelming and off putting to me, as it makes players feel like they're lost if they're not properly sorted into a group. A place to simply meet up and exchange handles is less daunting, and that doesn't require a complex hierarchy or excessive graphics. Just leave a handle and timezone and let it be.
