This thread is a real bummer. I have to look for pages to find anything fun or hype worthy :/

Anyone wanna post any cool smash 4 gifs? Speculation stuff? Anything?

You guys are killing my smash bros hype. Speculation, fake rumors, leaks, ideas, etc. are always the best part about pre-smash hype. I get this once every 5-ish years. :(

I think that Jiggly will get a new FS like that of Peach's...Except with a stage and spotlights.

I think people have accepted the leak which has come true so far so they are less inclined to hype characters, and the BB demo didn't help with the tired Melee vs. Brawl gameplay arguments. It's been done to death so many times I don't know how people have the energy to even discuss it.

This sounds good to me. I forgot about one thing though. What do you think about throws?

Making them easier KO moves like 64 could be good. On the other hand, if their knockback prevents combos, that could make shielding less punishable. And that makes the game slower and more defensive.

For example, if you rush me down for a combo, it's an easy choice to shield if I know the only punish is 15% and I get to be tossed away from your pressure.

I'd be fine if it was a universal rule that all your throws had KO potential like 64 except for your downthrow which is a combo starter, gives you the option of either using a high knockback throw to send them off the edge and put the other player at a positional disadvantage or use your low knockback throw for a combo opportunity that requires more reading but is a more rewarding punish.

The down throw should have relatively high hitstun but low endlag compared to the other throws and send them high enough so that they'd get out of hitstun before hitting the ground but the low endlag lets the other play get to them via a jump before they can successfully evade.

This would make chain grabbing harder because the other player can still do an air dodge before they reach ground grab range but still let the down throw allow for followups.

I hope they both get new final smashes :( :( :( They were both luigi-levels of lame. If luigi can get a new one, so should they, especially since Jiggly now has the fairy typing. I really hope she gets something new, too. I'd love sing to be a taunt and her Up-B replaced w/ something fairy-typed.

This is where I would put my source if I had one!

Guys, I figured out how Waluigi could still be playable!

That sounds good to me. I wonder how they'll end up. I know one gif had Marth down throwing Pikachu, and the knockback was so great that he couldn't follow up with his f-air.

In my irrelevant opinion, i think that some are being unfair with people like Joelnky. (seriously). Just using him as an example :) This is why:

I am proud of nintendo because they make games "for everyone", and you should too.. Nintendo likes to say that they make games "for everyone". They do. So, a nintendo game (whatever) is going to be played by people of different ages and different skill levels. Nintendo knows that, and the game is designed so it can be played by those different players, it offers different things to each group of players, and it does that while avoiding that the experience that some players can have with the game limits the experience that others can have with it. I can appreciate the game, but my little brother can do it too!! (in his own way). Nintendo says that this is something crucial for them. I thought (and still think) that it adds a lot of value to their games.

(they dont do this with all their games, of course. My little brother cant play f-zero :P)

Smash bros melee was one of those games (and i guess that it was more difficult to make that game "for everyone" because it was a fighting game so, unlike most nintendo games, it had to "deal" with competitive play). When i was young i played this game "for fun" :P with friends.

I also played smash bros brawl like i did with melee, "for fun". Both games were fun.

Years later (i didnt play smash for some years), i was older :P and i started to get interested in how the game mechanics worked, frame data and all that. I was just curious.

When i was younger i didnt know but, apparently, both games were extremely different. Basically, every mechanic was different :P And, apparently, that was (partly) because brawl wasnt made "for everyone". In fact, the experience that some players could have with the game limited the experience that others could have with it. And nintendo wanted that!? :O I was surprised.

smash bros brawl was not one of those games, i discovered :P

I didnt know before, and all this didnt affect me when i was younger and playing "for fun". So it wast a problem, right?? It was. I thought that it was important that nintendo games were "for everyone". Suddenly, the game had less value for me because of it.

As you can see, i was really disappointed with nintendo because of that change, even if it didnt affect me. Thats the only attitude that makes sense, i would say.

Now, put yourself in Joelnkys position or anyone that understood the "deep" of melee before brawl came out. They were playing "for glory" :P. So, put yourself in their position. Not only you dont understand why nintendo decided that you shouldnt be inside the "for everyone" group, but you also have to see how all this people that played "for fun" are ok with the change and with nintendo!! On top of that, some of those will talk with you about how the game should be, even if they didnt know how it was in the first place...

Before, i was disappointed even if the change didnt affect me, but it does affect me now. I am not a kid anymore. Now i like to understand the mechanics of the game that i am playing. And, some years later, when i came back to brawl knowing more than just "nothing" about the mechanics of the game, it wasnt fun anymore. Even the shield was "off" now that i knew more than "nothing".

But coming back to melee knowing more than "nothing" is still fun :P

edit: if IntelliHeath considers that its not appropiated (i havent read the last few pages of the thread so i dont know if he has changed something about the "rules" yet) i will remove it.

I'd love for the FS to be Moonblast or something, but being realistic. I think the Up B should be changed, but I doubt it'll happen.

That sounds good to me. I wonder how they'll end up. I know one gif had Marth down throwing Pikachu, and the knockback was so great that he couldn't follow up with his f-air.

We know that knockback scaling is completely fucked up in the demo based on testing so it's hard to say.

But if his downthrow has low enough knockback to successfully followup and landing lag is reduced, he'll be pretty good again, just not insane against spacies seeing as he won't have the upthrow chain grabs anymore.

Also his counter buff is interesting because it doesn't just have an increased damage multiplier it also seems to have reduced endlag from what I remember, so it may finally be a useful move to throw out as an edgeguard.

Can you guys feel it yet?

Can you feel how hard Snake is in this game?

Just sittin there. In the cardboard box. Waiting for his line.

So anyone wanna avatar bet Falco?

Edit: To make it clear I'd be betting he WOULD be appearing today (or tomorrow for whatever timezone :P)

I find it funny how much this "leak" has picked up steam, when it's really no different than any other "leak." I guess it is a bit exciting that it actually has a deadline though.

Falco ain't comin. Would rock if he did though.

Marth's counter is such an interesting buff.... Counter really NEEDED to be a calculated risk and a hard read before simply because the payoff wasn't worth it and the punishment for a failure is just too dire. I remember one Marth vs Link match I had (with Heath if I remember right) where I was doing Fair combos and knew it would drop before even starting it and I would get Daired (happened earlier in the match) so I read it and countered it.

Now all that build up and mind games only really got me a very weak hit, but if I missed it, that was the match...

So now risk seems worth it but really it was just a dumb move before... Risk vs Reward was out of wack and now it's simply how it should have been

Can anyone please post the picture of the Character Select Screen mock-up with the supposed final roster of 47?

EDIT: Found it

I'd honestly be really pleased with this. Might change a character here and there if it was up to me personally, but overall a really solid roster.
