This is random, but man does the Spirit Tracks stage look fun! I always forget how amazing that field music is.

I think I've jumped with the X button exclusively since the Melee days. Really screwed me up with the BestBuy SSB4 demo because I kept attacking when I wanted to jump; the X button is the furthest right button on the GCN controller and the A button is the furthest right button on the Pro Controller.
If I had to choose between Jiggs or Mewtwo, I'd choose Chesnaught :3
Is that the only train level so far?
I dig it, but admittedly it took a second for it to grow on me.The only train level in the series so far.
Semi-related, as much as I love the Spirit Tracks overworld theme I'm not feeling the the SSB arrangement at all. Maybe I just need to hear it without all the sound effects.
I honestly thought the game was only okay as far as Zelda games go; never much liked the touchscreen gameplay. But the setting, boss designs, and characters make it worth playing. Byrne would be an amazing assist trophy. It sounds nice to me.
...I should probably play Spirit Tracks one of these days.
That is a really nice mix of it. I think the one they have is maybe a bit better for a fighting atmosphere, but I'd take either.I was just really hoping for this version to finally show up somewhere.

Truly the perfect controller for Smash BrosI fired up smash 64 the other day and forgot how good the gc controller feels for it.
Exactly how I feel. I loved the story and really liked the relationship with Zelda. I'm thrilled her new Down B is a callback to one of her more interesting roles in the series. It's really held back by being a sequel to Phantom Hourglass. It nailed a lot of stuff with its setting and dungeons but the overworld traversal was kinda iffy (mostly in that the train moved to slow and never changes in any dramatic way once you get it) and the touchscreen combat was still kinda meh, though workable.
But as far as the story and setting goes it's actually pretty nice. The characters don't all fall into the typical tropes (at least right away...) and it's a nice change of pace to have Zelda as a partner character. It's just too bad it still had to use PH's engine because it's not a pretty game at all.
The arrangement is so good! I wouldn't mind if Smash Bros. traded fewer song choices for more fully orchestrated songs.
The only train level in the series so far.

I want Sauria.
'Cause dinosaurs.
I barely use Up Strong Attack at all because of jumping. Which is why I turned it off.
Out of curiosity, in what situations do you prefer the tap jump method?
I'm too set in my ways to disable tap jump. I don't really use it, I'm just used to it being there.
So apparently, I find out a lot of pro players and others who do advanced tech use a button to jump instead of flicking up on the joystick. I suddenly feel alone because of learning this fact.
Am I?
Jigglypuff is a Smash veteran since the first game. All the original 12 should be staple characters.I'm no hardkore smasher and I'm not a Pokemon fan, so to me, Jigglypuff seems like some completely random character. I know who Pikachu and Mewtwo are, and I understand that Lucario and Geninja are there to promote new(er) games, but Jigglypuff seems like it fits the same category as Pichu. Extraneous Pokemon filler that could just as easily be a pokeball summon.
What?Jigglypuff was in 64 because Sakurai couldn't figure out a Dedede movset, but wanted another floating character.
I'm only just now starting to be aware of more advanced techniques, so this kind of stuff never applied to me. I wonder as I delve more into it if I'll have any control changes. To be honest, it's mostly the above, but I've also found that I do get a bit of mileage when playing space animals in Melee/PM with tap jump on. Shine grabbing (jumping out of a down B and grabbing on the prejump frames) and ledge stalls with ledge drop - shine - jump - up B are all done with tap jumping.
I'm not sure if this was intended, but as every game has sort of a joke character (not in the sense that they're bad, but more that they're silly and unexpected), I feel she sort of fits that role for 64. Though I'm sure the anime also ups her importance factor.Jigglypuff was in 64 because Sakurai couldn't figure out a Dedede movset, but wanted another floating character. Now she's just mostly riding tradition and precedent.
Is it me or do most players have fox as either a backup or go to?
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Jigglypuff was out. Mewtwo was cut, I don't see why this wouldn't.Jigglypuff was in 64 because Sakurai couldn't figure out a Dedede movset, but wanted another floating character. Now she's just mostly riding tradition and precedent.
She's one of the original 12. She's not getting cut.At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Jigglypuff was out. Mewtwo was cut, I don't see why this wouldn't.
Having mostly the same body structure as Kirby sure helped, too.Jigglypuff was in 64 because Sakurai couldn't figure out a Dedede movset, but wanted another floating character. Now she's just mostly riding tradition and precedent.
Because she's part of Smash. Why not cut Captain Falcon as well?At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Jigglypuff was out. Mewtwo was cut, I don't see why this wouldn't.

I think 64s joke character could fit either of those two. Melee's is Pichu, Brawl's is Ganondorf.I always thought it was Luigi, I mean, not like Luigi is a joke, but his animations were almost the same as mario, and his dash attack looked way too silly, still nothings compare to Pichu hhurhur
Bla bla original 12 and new fairy typing. I'd say she's atlease 99% safe.
Is it me or do most players have fox as either a backup or go to?
Ganondorf wasn't an intentional joke character. He just sucked.I think 64s joke character could fit either of those two. Melee's is Pichu, Brawl's is Ganondorf.
Haha, you could kind of make case for all of the secret characters in 64 assuming that role. I wouldn't say Luigi was unexpected, but Jigglypuff, Ness, and Captain Falcon were all pretty strange picks. I know most of my friends with only a mainstream knowledge of Nintendo had no idea who they were. But that's the beauty of Smash.I always thought it was Luigi, I mean, not like Luigi is a joke, but his animations were almost the same as mario, and his dash attack looked way too silly, still nothings compare to Pichu hhurhur
Am I the only one who thinks it's weird how Fils-a-Mech's eye lasers rip open the girl's pants before she explodes?
I'd be more surprised If that didn't happen.Am I the only one who thinks it's weird how Fils-a-Mech's eye lasers rip open the girl's pants before she explodes?
You sure? He has things that are bad about him mechanically that no other character has, and Sakurai continually makes jokes about him on his dojo page. He's a "useless old man" joke character.Ganondorf wasn't an intentional joke character. He just sucked.
Jigglypuff being fairy didn't really seem to do much for it in the end, it only learnstwothree (forgot Misty Terrain...) new Fairy moves (and one of them is worthless). But it would be nice to see Dazzling Gleam worked in somehow.
Maybe a weaker version of rest that puts flowers on people's heads for no reason? I don't know why anyone would ever pick it, but that could work as an alternate.Maybe sakurai will give some of her standard attacks/smashes magical effects for more power/range. Hmmm......thinking for a second, I'm curious as to what sakurai would use for b move variations with a rest variation that restores health and flaming rest being plausible options.
If you're talking about the landing lag glitch, several other characters have it. Ganondorf just has it far worse because he's already so slow. You sure? He has things that are bad about him mechanically that no other character has,
I don't get that impression at all.and Sakurai continually makes jokes about him on his dojo page. He's a "useless old man" joke character.
