PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

Yep.

If the gameplay between the two are equal, P3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> P4 forever in my eyes.

Hell, even as it is I still favor P3 over P4.
The boring Tartarus dungeon alone places P3 below P4.

Edit: It's almost as bad as this top-of-the-page post. But you should still play P3FES/P for the story and characters.

So Vita cats, just finished P4G a few seconds ago (getting the true ending mind you). This is without a doubt one of the best games I've ever had a chance to play and would love for a Persona 3 Golden. I'm also extremely excited about Persona 5 now. My only dilemma is now that I've beaten the game once, do I keep it on my Vita or delete it off? I haven't platinum'd the game yet, but I'm not sure if it's too much work.

How big of a memory card do you have? If it's not a big one and P4G is in the way of other games go ahead and delete it and come back for the platinum later. If not then keep it on since, as you said, it's one of the best games.

Was going to wait for Child of Light Vita to go on sale before buying it, but figured I would just get it now to support the system as much as I could.

I just started FFX-2 HD, too. @_@

......Honestly, if Tartarus was disected and trasformed into several mini-dungeons set up like the ones from Persona 4 Golden (with their own unique themes/bosses; maybe have the Full Moon shadow be inside the mini-dungeon and said dungeon being tied to a unique party member), then it would be much more fun to explore and deal with.

I mean, you are fighting the arcana shadows and each party member has their own unique arcana, so why not have the parties Persona have some significance with the bosses (either that party member gets a unique attack skill only THEY can use or they have to fight their 'shadow' first via mini-boss before you fight the main Full Moon Shadow).

I know, that sounds ALOT like how it was set up with Persona 4 but considering how boring Tartarus and a good number of the bosses are, that could be a new way to spice things up for a remaster :D. I know I would have more fun if Tartarus was set up this way.

If you happen to have PS+, upload the save, delete the game and come back to it in a month or two.

Thanks. I'll do this. As much as I love the game, I think trying to play it again right after beating it the first time would kinda make it seem tedious for me since I would be literally going through it just to get the last trophies. Time to look for a new game to obsess over...

Wow. The SEN Store still hasn't applied the PS+ discounts to the games from the Big in Japan sale.

... hopefully it's fixed by the afternoon?

No, not today. Time to pack it up and wait for Burst.
A burst version is unlikely this time. They decided to support the game post launch with what pretty much would've been the "burst" content as free DLC. Story missions with voiced cutscenes, costumes, equipment, mission modes, online play, etc. A lot of beefy content all rolled out over the last half year at no cost. The exception is the latest DLC which is paid ($10).

The main reason this makes a burst version unlikely is that with all this update data the game size is already at the current Vita cartridge capacity and there's not really room for more content in a further upgraded retail version unless they plan to use an 8GB cart.

Just play Freedom Wars imo. I only tried the demo but the game mechanics are already miles ahead of GE2.

Hey Vitagaf

so im the only excited about Firefly diary coming to th west? well haha

what about Criminal Girls no fanservice lover here?

You mean that cool looking puzzle game? That does look nice :D; gives me Duiku vibes (the puzzle game on Vita where you play as a little skeleton trying to save a princess). The art looks really nice and it looks like it plays very well.

The latter game....I don't know :l. It just looks....wrong to me :(. I mean, the more Vita games the better, but....what-looks to be little girls in a prison-like setting getting hurt is just....weird. I guess that is the whole "Japan being Japan thing" but other Japanese companies handle that type of stuff better (for example, the Persona games deal with fan-service on a reasonable level and that isn't in your face at all). If people like the game, that is great for them, hope they enjoy it :D. But in my case, I'm just going to avoid it; not my type of game :l.

I've decided to skip the Vita version of Child of Light. Seeing the Vita version and then the PS4 version has made me realise a much bigger difference.

You can really see a pretty big difference when it comes to the image quality and the character model. I'll probably pick up the PS4 Deluxe Edition now...
This is a bad comparison.

The Vita version looks fine when played on the Vita, even I felt that it looked ugly in that video you posted but when I actually play it I think it looks fantastic.

Really glad I picked up Trails in the Sky during this sale. Haven't been able to put it down for the past five hours or so, and I only just finished the Prologue chapter. I have a feeling this is gonna be a long one lol.

I might be late on this and if so, just ignore this post.
I just saw that Lego Batman 2 was Free now on the store for EU Plus users instead of showing full price as it did before. It doesn't show up in your instant game collection, you have to search for it. I did it through the browser so I don't know if it works on the Vita store yet.

I'll probably never play it...

That Lego Batman game isn't going to fly with me... When digital memory space is at such a premium, games like this just don't make the cut.

There's nothing particularly *wrong* with it, it just didn't grab me immediately.

Am I being too harsh on it? Vita gaming in 2014 is a ruthless practise!

Not at all. Lazy 3DS port job.

Nothing wrong with you, it's just a mediocre game as all the other Vita, DS, 3DS and *some* of the PSP Lego games.

Yeah, the Vita version looks perfectly fine when playing it on the actual machine. The battle UI is a bit small (for me), but other than that, is a decent port imho.

If you guys are still unsure about it, remember there is a demo (at least in europe).

I'm fiending to buy a Vita game but I think I've picked up just about everything I want. I don't know why I want to buy more when I'm balls deep in Borderlands 2 and I have a humongous backlog. I'm even considering buy FFX/FFX2 even though I already know I hate JRPGs. It's either that or Dokuro, Child of Light, and Malicious Rebirth. Not being terribly interested in any of 'em is making it hard to choose.

I'm tempted to go with FFX and to try and force myself to like it, but that didn't work with P4G and I suspect that's the better game of the two.

Edit: fuck it, went with FFX / FFX2.

btw do we have a Blacklight Retribution OT anywhere? just tried it again lately after the latest update (no more Beta) turned on the framerate cap, and wow , it is now playable to me, the Onslaught mode is a blast

I'm about to start Unit13, is it any good??

This is something I'd like to start playing too, but I have too many other vita games (needless to say games in general) that I keep bouncing off between: FFX, MGS3, Soul Sacrifice (vanilla), Dragons Crown, FF3.
It's not your typical tps, you don't have a story mode but just a bunch of missions, this can be really off putting at the beginning, IIRC i stopped playing almost instantly, but then when i returned to it i was sucked, different kind of missions have a really different way to play, for example in time based you run and kill everyone, in stealth you go silent, and so on.
Its faults, other than the lack of story are the generic look and the variety, there are few environments and enemies, on the pro side missions types are really different, the game is addictive(if you like it), long and replayable.

YEahhhhhhh good news again http://www.siliconera.com/2014/07/03/criminal-girls-fireflys-diary-coming-west-vita/

Vita muffins its happening! Criminal Girls And Firefly’s Diary Are Coming To The West On Vita
See?
I have always said that Criminal Girls would be localized, it had "localized" written all over it. Lol.

so im the only excited about Firefly diary coming to th west? well haha

Hell no! I'm super happy that they're bringing Mion!

As for CG, I'm pleased. I played it for a bit on the PSP and liked the battle system - had no idea why each turn the girls offered me different actions in battle, but found that interesting (now I know because someone explained on the annoucement thread).
Also, I don't care about the censors, so all is fine.

I bought Eliminage Original and i have mixed opinion :\

Pro:
-it looks really interesting, complex and fun

Cons:
-no face importer on Vita :(
-there is no tutorial or manual that explains the meaning of all those stats, and my alchemist was supposed to do something but no one explained me how to do it!
-the interface... man how clunky it is!
-who the hell invented the numbered uses of magic? It's the dumbest thing i have ever seen, i hate it with all myself!

i don't care about the face importer and once i have learned all about the game the first 3 problems don't really matter to me, but man the magic management... how much i hate it!

Not really, depend on what you are looking. In many ways FFX is a way superior game compared to P4G.

And you made a good choice. I don't know about Child of Light, but Dokuro is so monotonously boring/frustrating to play and Malicious Rebirth is not a technically proficient game.

Not at all. Lazy 3DS port job.

In fact I think it's a lazy DS port, not even a 3DS game.

If the 3DS were the "lead" version we'll get games as good (or better) as the best old PS2 -> PSP ports.

Well, tell us your impresions when you've started that game.

I'd say overall I'd choose P4G over FFX by a country mile. But they're really different beasts, have different focus and the presentation in general is a lot better in the latter.

Persona has something special though.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with my choice. I really want to like a JRPG and I have reasonably high hopes for FFX. I think I remember playing it back at release, I vaguely remember giving up after meeting some beam-shooting murder-tank thingy in some frozen arena or other. I seem to remember it had an attack that could wipe out my whole party and it only took about five tries before I threw up my hands and said 'fuck this'. I'm sure that was FFX.

We'll see if I fare better this time.

Well, tell us your impresions when you've started that game.
Aye, will do. Might be a while before I can put Borderlands 2 down though!

So which is better, Vita version or PS4 version over remote play?

In the press release of Bandai Namco Italy are mentioned 2 new games, The Awakened Fate Ultimatum and Criminal Girls Invite Only, but there's no mention of Hotaru No Nikki, isn't it coming to Europe? :(

http://www.everyeye.it/multi/notizia/bandai-namco-annuncia-due-nuovi-titoli_196853

It's coming but not via Bandai Namco but via NISA themselves

Anime Expo, CA (July 3, 2014) – NIS America is excited to announce that the moody puzzle action game, htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, will be available digitally this fall in both North America and Europe as a PlayStation®Vita exclusive! In this atmospheric title, you’ll use the Vita’s touchscreen and rear touch pad to navigate a young girl through dangerous ruins. Two fairies – one operating in light, and the other in shadow – must work in tandem to uncover this girl’s memories and save her from the darkest of fates.

Haha I have moments like this, where I think am I buying just for the sake of buying, we all have backlogs we can play, yet we still buy another game!

Shinobido 2 has gone missing from the Vita store. It's on the webstore but there's no way to buy it. It's supposed to be in the Big in Japan sale. :/

There's nowhere in the UK where I can buy a 64gb card is there? I'm heading back to the motherland next week for a month...

24 hour plane trip = clearing some vita backlog!

Man, having a vita (or a 3ds for that matter) on a long plane trip is the comfiest shit ever. I even had a usb charger so it was perfect

I had a long plane trip from America back to Switzerland and played hours of Soul Sac Delta and then Lone Survivor in the dark

I already talked about having slowdown issues with a lot of Vita games when I bought it two months ago but now I've uploaded a video of Final Fantasy X HD:

http://youtu.be/WXsparNtQOQ

As you can see it runs at a normal speed when I'm in the upper part, has serious slowdown issues when I go down for whatever reason. That's not normal, is it? I get slowdowns like those all the time in most games, it's very annoying. :(

Dragon's Crown for instance was barely playable, with a party of four characters it almost felt like playing a slide show. It's a European Killzone Mercenary Vita bundle with a OLED Vita and a 8GB memory card. What are the odds that it's just a memory card issue? I don't want a new one but that is replaceable I guess.

An arcade fighting game called Fighting Climax is being ported for PS3/Vita confirmed at Dengeki. However I have little to no knowledge about that game :p
