Can't win them all, I guess. Those characters don't mean much to me, personally. IIRC Isn't there a big update coming out for PM, soon?

Do you know how funny it was to be a Marth main with at least 13 years of experience in the spacing and tipper mechanics that define the character and then complain about how Roy gets stupid KOs because "midsword mechanic + bair/fsmash is too strong"?

Then again, when you miss a sweet spot ledge or get tech chased and rekt by a Roy fsmash at 40% for a whole stock...

Edit: Oh yeah, I just remembered one of the bigger reasons why Roy was my anathema for a while. His entire defensive game plan is "crouch cancel everything" and I was transitioning from Brawl Marth's "forward air everything" meaning he won most of those exchanges.

Yeah, I was an Olimar main in vanilla Brawl... That was one of the fastest switches I've ever made.

I think ROB is one of the characters that I'm completely happy with in PM. They didn't make him too good or two bad, but he's just so much more satisfying to play with with his new specials, up air, and new tilt properties. I guess people who loved that top might be upset, but that was a stupid move.
 
Overall, I'm satisfied with P:M's balance so far. There isn't perfect equality, but pretty much everyone is fairly fun to use.

After years of suffering through his low tierness, it's feels good to have my old main Link finally be good in a Smash game. =P

Also, Sakurai has been the opposite of stubborn this time around. Like half of the newcomers have a "I didn't think they would fit in Brawl, but I changed my mind" story. Villager, Mii, Pacman. Even Mac was determined to be playable material over Assist material. The guy changes his mind all the time.

Should have clarified. . .he was going to add those characters and was forced to leave them out because of technical difficulties and time constraints, not bullshit modesty. Even if we lie and say he left them out solely because of modesty, that doesn't even begin to make up for the excessive Kirby and Friends facetime in the SSE, or the overblown Kid Icarus representation through items and enemies this time around.

Yeah, you have Rare developing Jungle Japes for Melee (they were in charge of DK stages and DK's model back then IIRC), but Namco's more significant to me because, one, they have no obvious ties to DKC nor any obligation to represent it, and two, they focused on DKC content in an era where Nintendo EAD was calling the characters "not fresh enough for today's gamers" and doing all in their power to retcon them away with games like Jungle Beat. That's significant.

No, because "too big" isn't a blanket catch-all argument for all possible reasons Ridley could be excluded, it's an idiotic meme. Sakurai could recognize the possibility of making Ridley playable, yet decide against it because he'd rather focus on other characters, because he thinks Ridley isn't unique enough, because he thinks he'd make for a cool boss, etc. None of that has anything to do with "too big." His change of mind on those other characters can all be explained as Sakurai wanting to add in new series, since the absence of those was a big complaint of his with Brawl (how Pikmin was the only big new character-driven series at the time).

No game's balance is perfect, to begin with. Just the nature of the system. I'd rather have a handful or low tiered but still viable characters, over everyone is handled by Meta Knight: The Game.

We've already shown you that Sakurai had absolute control over everything in the game, not Namco. And you can speculate on why Ridley is never playable all you want, but you don't know for sure. It's entirely possible that Sakurai didn't include him because he thought he was best as a huge boss character, not a smaller playable one. It seems hypocritical to condemn the speculation from others when you're doing the exact same thing.

Basically, you're just making stuff up to suit your arguments. A lot of the time, it's actually going against what we know. It's really hard to take a post like this seriously.

that were held against their will since birth to become monsters and obey their masters.

Among many, many, other things. I'm not exactly thrilled about what's on the tape either, but I'm just sayin I don't think one thing that is implied on a tape from a villain we know little to nothing about is going to change too many people's minds on Metal Gear at this point. Ground Zeroes has been out for a while and even though it's certainly been a topic of discussion, it hasn't had any large negative impact.
 
Did the project m team do anything to improve brawl's lag when playing online? I really like what I've played of project m, but my friends don't care too much about competitive smash brothers, so if the online is still as unplayable as it was I'm brawl, not sure if I wanna keep bothering to get good at it.

Last I played, it was bad at times.
 
You know what I'm glad about. Smash 4 Wii U screenshots won't look as horrible as Brawl screenshots. Good god the compression was bad.

The time constraints or lack of resources could have eliminated other characters though, and yet he chose twice to sideline his own characters.

Kirby doesn't really have more facetime than other franchises though, the issue is just that his face time is often more plot relevant towards end game. That might come just from him working more with those characters and so feeling more "free" about what he could do with them in a story.

Still, in Brawl itself Kirby was crippled as far as stages goes, getting only one new one, while even a much smaller franchise like Metroid got two.

He had a choice of Dedede or Clones in Melee, and went with the clones because he wanted a larger variety of characters and felt some characters deserved to be in over Dedede.

Dedede and Metaknight deserve to be in Smash and have deserved to be in Smash since the beginning. There's nothing immodest or playing favorites with adding either of them. Kirby also gets very few levels and very few items, and the items it gets would have made it in whether Sakurai made Kirby or not.

And the star of the SSE was ROB. But Sakurai didn't have anything to do with ROB, but you ignored it. Also Snake appears just as much as Metaknight, Donkey Kong Jungle appears in more levels than the Halberd. and Dedede fits a role in the story no other villain in Smash could have because that's who Dedede is as a character (a "bad guy" who acts good when a larger evil is at play).

We have about 10 weeks before it get release in Japan. I presume that we should see more new stages soon, and hopefully few veterans. Hopefully Sakurai would show Palutena's Vanilla Moveset anytime soon but I doubt it.

Yeah, I really don't get this either, but it's a surprisingly prevalent sentiment. Do people really not understand how big of a franchise Kirby is? There have been Kirby games released at least every other year since 1992, and it had a fairly popular anime series. It's one of Nintendo's most valuable brands.
