Yes there are. You just don't hear about them.
Yes there are. You just don't hear about them.
Then how do you know they are real?
The exciting archaeology adventure stereotype all originated in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, everything since has been a take off on that. And Lucas who created the character said he realized archaeology is nothing in the slightest like what Indiana Jones is.
This idea of yours of going off on adventure after the Special Forces has no basis in reality...
There are vast stretches of untouched jungle and dessert to explore. I will make it, trust me. All it takes is the will of one man.
Travelling the world and searching for historical stuff and ancient civilizations and treasure. That's what I want to do.
You have this all planned.I am already in the process of enlisting and going Special Forces (Where I will be a medic.)
So no need for doctors when im off in the jungle. (Research SF 18D they are walking hospitals) Next I will grab a BS in archaeology before moving to to a bigger Uni to grab a masters. While traveling as well. I will be playing poker and gambling so money won't be an issue.
I find that an outdated stereotype. You get a wide variety of people of varying ages and different skill sets. There are plenty of Jago Cooper types out there as well as John Romers.Wait...you are serious? You realize in real life this job is not glamorous at all and is mostly 60 year old college professor types dusting old broken pots?
It's incredibly difficult to get such funding. To be frank, you have to be quite exceptional, have good solid references and have a decent body of work in your portfolio. That is because they don't have the drive nor the funding.

spoiler alert bro. Be safe, you are tipping your hand.I am already in the process of enlisting and going Special Forces (Where I will be a medic.)

Kelly McEvers with the story of Zora, a self-made superhero. From the time she was five, Zora had recurring dreams in which she was a 6'5" warrior queen who could fly and shoot lightning from her hands. She made a list of all the skills she would need to master if she wanted to actually become the superhero she dreamed of being. Sample items: Martial arts, evasive driving and bomb diffusion. She actually checked off most things on the list...and then had a run-in with the CIA.
So he's not Drake then?

To go back to my previous example; Jago was approached by the BBC, specifically producers from BBC4 about fronting the series I mentioned in my previous post. After a long negotiation period, and lots of hurdles, a budget was agreed and a date set for filming, and the rest is history. It was a success and they commissioned another series fronted by Jago that aired just recently dealing with the Rapa Nui. It may not be rare, but such opportunities are extremely hard to come by and Jago is an exceptional talent. To be a curator at the British Museum at his age is a fine achievement and his body of work is well regarded. There are other examples out there. But securing such deals on the whole is difficult. Of course TV isn't for everyone, but it's something to consider.
May I ask if you are multilingual? If not, consider adding another language or two to your repertoire.
what happens when you run into yeti/bigfoot though

What did you think the deception was in the first place?

Oh man, I share the dream! But it's a dream, not reality. The problem is, once you start university, you'll realize archeology is a lot of time in the library and heckling for funding. There is some exploration no doubt though. The kind of life you're looking for is more akin to the one of smugglers who resell pieces of Cambodian temples.
Regarding the Nazis and their quest for treasure, this documentary will help bring you back to reality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Q2bLQZ3a5k
Isn't Nathan Drake technically a thief? A well-learned thief for sure but still a thief.
Also, rreal-life archeology isn't that exciting imo. Being a tour guide would be more fun, I think, if travelling is all you want to do.
What? Where? I don't want to derail the dream but I've not heard of this and I am skeptically interested. There is geological evidence that The land mass Atlantis would have existed. That is part of my quest too.

I don't know if you know this, but Joe Rogan is full of shit.
