DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

Okay Evolution, you've convinced me. 30fps is good enough with those graphics.

Still though, I'm befuddled by how Sony is presenting this game. 10 second videos on Instagram and facebook is how you show off your weather effects for the first time?

All I need now is a proper campaign/single player mode
pls Rushy, make it real!

I'm not an expert but it seems they can get this incredible rain detail in the game without a hit to performance as they smartly use the mist to cut the draw distance of the backgrounds down.

The mist also acts as a block to the dynamic sun rays, which requires some processing power.

I'd think the most expensive detail here would be the raymarched reflections on the entire road surface, and that should stay shiny until after the weather has cleared up.

And with less than 30 seconds of video any semblance of ambivalence has been replaced by unbridled enthusiasm. This looks amazing.

Crazy, going in to the last turn (around the 7sec mark) you can even see the AI car reflecting off the concrete barrier thanks to the rain.

Anyone else feel like Sony is competing with themselves? GT vs Driveclub ..Uncharted vs The Order Bloodborne vs whoever is next... Like what?

Arcade vs Sim [with 2 years between them]

Fun globe-trotting summer blockbuster adventure vs insanely dark and hard horror game [with ~6months between them]

Music off: check
Rain: check.
headphones: check.
Orgasm.

As said before by Rushy himself I believe, he's fighting to have the music turned off by DEFAULT. He was quoted as saying something to the notion of 'the real soundtrack are the engine and environment sounds,' and I can't help but agree with him 100%. I will most definitely race with the music off a lot, if not all the time!

I know things will change and multiplats will look better on even midrange PC's, but damn right now as it seems, Sony's first party is impossible to match graphics-wise.

Incredible job with the game Evo. Hope your game sells tons of copies.

The games themselves are not coming out close enough to each other to really compete and affect game sales. Seeing how development times are being increased, I would say having similar games helps bridge the time gap plus the studios can help each other oout with tech developed by a previous studios attempt at a genre.

I firmly believe that Evolution can pull off the Motorstorm we saw in CGI videos in 2005/2006. Probably even well beyond those CGI vids too!

This is awesome and I really like the evolution goal of providing immersive socially connected racer with control of dynamic weather, day/night and very good 55 tracks/50 cars which are detailed very well to be authentic in every way.

Was there actually full on rain in Forza Horizon 2 ?

It looked sparse with some puddles, like a cloud was just above the car.

That hard to work cell architecture train Sony first party into graphic wizard. ND, GG, SMM, Evo, even Sucker punch step up their games.
Japan studio need to catch up!

God damn, I've been waiting for the A5 VW Beetle in Gran Turismo or Forza for around 2 years now, it mildly annoys me seeing that Driveclub got it first.

:C

I hope I see it conveniently pop up in Horizon 2 or something as a retaliation, I love that car but I'm not buying a whole console for it.

Yeah. It's mind boggling that someone was paid a high 6 figure salary to dream this marketing plan up. You could have paid me way less to put these clips on Sony's own content servers and market it through mega publishers (both traditional and gaming).

He already said he won that fight. Music is off by default :)

Well, looking at this thread and reactions from around the net, it seems to be working.

it has dynamic weather but their weather effects are not very dynamic i think considering its Open world racer and runs on less powerful console compared to PS4.

I did wonder this. I have to imagine Evolution will be working on something else after Drvieclub that isnt Driveclub 2, so Sony can focus on GT7
Although MS did it with Forza and PGR so who knows.

No because we aren't fanboys lol
This reply makes no sense

Yeah, that looked incredible. Some high bitrate and longer footage would be lovely, though. So far this is shaping up to be the most visually impressive game I've ever seen. That lighting model is just gold.

I know it's an arcady racer but... the wet road looked so real that I got little scared by watching them drive this wet track.
