DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

Much improved in the latest build, these vids were done just after E3 :)

I hope you guys are giving each other huge pats on the back after each day at work, because you should be, this looks incredible.

Will work full time as back patter. PM me.

I'm looking at the clip over and over and i have to say the art direction in this game is probably something that will stay for long.

i'd say the kind of details 'the rainy/foggy atmosphere, the little sunlight that touches the surface of the wet road.. it all works as proust madeleine for me, actually bringing physical memory.

It's the kind of Miyazaki/Tarkovsky feel i've not been used to see in a videogame. This is beyond a technical effort there.

Extremely well said.
I too had that tangible, almost nostalgic, feeling while looking at that little clip. I feared that impression would likely be labeled as hyperbole, so I'm glad I'm not alone & you summed up my feelings- and even better than I possibly could. :)

At this point I don't even car if the driving is good. Just give me a photomode and I'll play this till forever.

Can you confirm if the powerlines are fixed, because that appears to be very important to some...

Maybe we should dedicate a separate thread to the power lines.

Yeah and get Digital Foundry on the case. We can have 200-screenshot comparisons of the power lines in each video to see if there has been any progress or not.

And a live feed at the top of rolling updates with tweets and posts from the devs about the progress on that particular front.

This is ridiculous. This is simply the best looking game I have ever seen, and its the only racing game I am buying this year.

Rushy,

You and the rest of the team should be proud of how well DriveClub is coming together. It's mind boggling how much better the game plays and looks now vs. E3 2013.

The weather system looks like it is going to set a new bar for console racers (heck, maybe console games period). I know you are planning on delivering it post launch as a free update, but set yourselves a stretch goal of making launch. Having weather at launch would positively effect review scores, which is always good ;)

It's my only worry at this point, that reviews will deduct points for missing weather at launch even though they know it will be patched in soon after.

Best looking game EVER. FUCKING PERIOD.

I can't believe how good this looks! Holy shit, I'm happy I have a PS4... and the fact that I bought it because of this game. This is insane.

So, in talking with a friend of mine and viewing these clips, I'm left wondering, what is arcade about this arcade racer now? If I buy this (and I will buy it, it's already preordered), why would I buy Gran Turismo?

'Arcade' and 'Sim' generally refer to physics / handling. GT7 would satisfy your sim itch (assuming you have one).

I'll be getting both. As well as Project Cars. Yum.

You need to fix your car's roof if that's how wet you get when driving in the rain ;)
My daily driver is a Maserati 450S.

(That might not strictly be true)

As if bullshots weren't bad enough, now Evo are recording real life footage and overlaying a UI on top, shame on you Evo, shame on you.

In all seriousness, it's incredible to me that what will probably be the best looking console game of the year didn't get showcased at Sony's E3 press conference, it's crazy.
