Man that game was brilliant. I showed even after 5 minutes Germany was going to beat Brazil, but with 1-7 I never would have guessed.

Pretty sad to see David Luis' interview though.

Another broken record

And Brazilian press with all the ridiculous effort to compare Neymar with Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo... Neymar isn't even better than players like Müller, Ibrahimovic, Bale, Suarez, Robben, etc.
First of all, where did that come from, he didn't even play today. Second, i didn't rate him before this tournament but i think at 22 he is one of the best players in the world, he carried this team in the group stage and looked a class above the rest of his teammates, well except Silva.

What a bizarre game, Maicon and Marcelo kept pushing forward and forgot about defending, like they were playing against Honduras and winning by 5 goals. It made no sense, they gave no fucks it seemed.

Germany is a really good team but Brazil is not that bad, there was nothing Scolari could've done, what do you do when your team concedes four times in the span of five minutes?

Some of those players should never represent their national team again, ever.

Thought I posted this here but it was another thread (Good morning everyone):

Brazil's defence was just so terrible. I even think Germany were genuinely surprised at how easy they scored the first 5 goals in about 20 minutes. It was laughable since there was zero communication going on.

Not to mention that after the 3-0 everything just clicked for the Germans. Even that goal from Schurrle is a goal he only makes once in his career. Brazil just had the misfortune that everything clicked against them.

It suits Scolari, though. There is no reason as to why you leave out Kaka, Ronaldinho, Robinho out of the squad. It is just like France leaving out Nasri.

I admit i haven't seen much of them in recent months but they can't be worse than Fred, Jo, Oscar and company right, right?

Hey guys, i had this crazy dream last nightt.
Germany destroyed Brazil 7-1. haha, crazy right, wonder what that dream means.

Im curious about how many people in germany actually saw the game, I think the game against France was the most watched german game ever with over 26 million viewers...

I just saw the gif and realized how Müller is underrated at least here in Brazil. That guy is an incredible player and he runs 120 minutes like it's nothing. Neymar is indeed good and was one of the best players in the group stage. But he is not that great yet. James Rodríguez is another guy who was underrated. Knowing how people here puts Neymar as a god just makes me want to say how media love to fabricate player.

I was going to say that Scolari should have made substitutions to the defense as soon as that second goal hit but looking at that roster..man there's not much he could have done. Dani Alves for Maicon wouldn't have changed much and Dante+Luiz are better than the defenders on the bench.

He's not THAT good, and Barcelona overpaid to get gim, but i cam see him being one of the best id not the best at some point. I mean, the kid is 22 with huge pressure on his shoulders being THE player for Brazil at home and i think he delivered, gotta give him credit for that.

First final since 2008. Damn. It has been a while. Time to give the golden generation their well deserved title.

Bastian Schweinsteiger - World Cup Winner.

I like the sound of it.

You're right. They are all better. But Scolari went all "big daddy" on the players who have won the Confederations Cup last year.

Kaká, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Diego, Alex, Pato, Luis Fabiano, Rafael Sobis, Diego Tardelli, etc. were all better offensive options.

Yeah, I agree with you. He deserves a lot credit.

2002 was the last time Germany went to the WC final. It's been 12 years.

Which final are you refering to?

Dumbass fools that riot and destroy their own city because they are too fucking emotionally invested in a sport piss me the fuck off. Fuck people like that; just a disgrace.

Can't wait for the Holland vs Argentina game now. Hup Holland hup!

"The Man Shaft?"

That's the nickname of our team....or at least that's what journalists abroads think the nickname of our team is. NOBODY calls them "die Mannschaft". It's either "die Nationalmannschaft" (the national team) or "die Nationalelf" (national eleven). We don't really have a tacky nickname for our team and it's seriously irritating to hear them being called "the Mannschaft" by clueless journalists...

Yesterday felt like this. Someone needs to make a gif with Jogi Löw doing the WINNING and the bodycount stats would be the records broken.

The National Elf?

Germany is one of my favourite places, for real.

And people said the semis would be boring. World Cup semifinals are always cray. Though admittedly never this cray.

So what's the explanation? Home disadvantage? Where the weight of expectations caused Brazil to collapse after the 2-0? Discounting the four goals in nine minutes when the legs of Brazilian players were collectively made of pudding, it would still have been 3-1. Though the statistics were actually in favor of Brazil. German grundlichkeit? Cesar versus Neuer? Or is this what you get when a mediocre team somehow manages to get to the semi-finals with the help of the ref and some luck? Probably all of them at the same time.

Blitzkrieg. Brazil forgot to cover Muller with that cornerkick and while they were still figuring out how when and why he scored, the Germans rolled in with their Panzer-division and put 4 more in before the Brazilians realized they were already dead.

After that there was a 15 minute break and then tey started again and played good until the saw the giant screen in the stadium showing BRA 0 : 5 GER
they lost it again right there and booked the flights to Brasilia for their 3rd place game :D

Fun fact: IIRC Brazil actually had more shots on goal than Germany. I think it was like 10 shots on goal for Germany and 13 shots on goal for Brazil. Neuer is a beast, but Cesar actually never really had a chance to hold any of these goals. His defense completely and utterly let him down, allowing the German offence to take good shots from wherever they wanted.

Many of the brazilian shots on goal however were out of pure desperation and not nearly as well shot as the German ones, additionally Neuer held almost all good attempts.

=> Better offense, defense and goalkeeping by Germany. Nothing Brazil really could have done.

The weirdest thing is, that although the won 7-1 its not like "hey maybe those were 2 or 3 goals too much" its completly reasonable

Thinking on it, I don't think Germany should be so happy about this result. Of course there is a confidence boost in winning with such big numbers in the quarter finals, but it can also breed arrogance and overconfidence in your abilities. Especially since the result wasn't so much due to Germany's play, but due to Brazil's complete meltdown. And it's not like either Argentina or Oranje won't have confidence after reaching the finals, it kind of comes with beating everyone, after all.

What's worse for Germany is that they had a terrible prep for the final, they had a match against their weakest opponent of the entire tournament, which is terrible training for tactics, teamplay and creativity on the pitch. Germany got nothing out of this match, all they had to do was get the ball near the goal and score, as if they were playing a bunch of kids on the street for fun.

Also, although this is marginal at best, the crowd will be heavily favoring whoever of the two countries they're facing, just because the German team humiliated theirs so much. There is something to be said for getting a boost by being cheered loudly by a crowd and having your opponent hated with a passion.

All in all, great result for Germany, but I think they would have been better off with a heart fought 1 or 2 goal victory.

I was laughing so hard yesterday, oh man what a game. Loved it so much. The Germans played perfect, whoever they meet in the final probably won't matter.

Actually Brazil was dominating the match in the first couple minutes, i was surprised at how energetic they were... had they kept THAT up during the whole match, it would have turned out differently BUT after that first goal they were incredibly dumbstruck and it was all downhill from there...

So much funny stuff in this post.

The only ones partying right now are the fans. Right after the game the German players were all calm and focused on the next game already. Don't worry. They'll be ready.

I'm sure they will be, but they still got nothing out of this match and they will still think to themselves "hang on, we just beat fucking Brazil 7-1, aren't we amazing!" even if they won't say it out loud in front of a camera.

Now granted, it's minor and it won't cause them to fuck up, but it certainly isn't the best prep for a final in a world cup.

I imagine beating Brazil 7-1 is not that unlike Bayern beating Barcelona 7-0. these players know the final will be a tight affair, maybe they'll grind it out by a goal, maybe they'll lose by a goal. doubt any of the players are getting carried away with this result. they destroyed a few historically good opponents at the last World Cup too (England, Argentina).

Man you really should have watched the post-game interviews: EVERY German player knows that this match is no indication AT ALL for how the finals will go. Every single one is calm and focused, not even a hint of overestimating themselves. The team knows how deep you can fall off a high victory, most of them already were on the team when we lost against Spain in 2010 and (not as drastic of course) the draw against Ghana after the 4-0 against Portugal is still in fresh memory. I wouldn't worry so much, keep up a reasonable amount of tension for the finale but for today just enjoy Netherlands - Argentina :D

You are just afraid that germany will run over the netherlands too :P

I understand your post. I even respect it.

But you can be sure after plenty of semi final defeats in the last 10 years the German team knows that they won shit yet.

The difference is. We have a team that actually proved on the European stage that they can win it in the end. The best example are the Bayern players who won the Champions League in 2013 after choking several times.

It's on like Donkey Kong.

We got this.

You didn't hear how the audience booed their own team off the pitch at the end?
