I don't understand this mindset at all. WHY on Earth would anybody not be confident in their team's ability to win? It's insane that you have to show some sort of faux humility on the chance your team might lose.
If they do, they do and if they lose fairly because they faced a better team you can still congratulate and be gracious in defeat, but why be that way before the match is even played? That makes no sense to me, we're in it to win it, not to go "oh well, we're good by ending as fourth too"
I guess this mentality is prevalent now, starting as early as pre-school by giving children medals even if they come in second to last. "It's okay kid, at least you tried."
Nope, Oranje can win and Oranje should win and unless they prove me otherwise I will say they are going to win. Go Oranje!
Dutch MediaMarkt had a thing just before the tournament started where you could buy a TV and get a full refund if Netherlands became World Champion. This was before people realized this was actually possible, so I'm not sure how many people took the bait.
