They are playing as shit. Both teams are retreating and doing the minimal they can to not expose their defenses. Crosses are bad. Fouls are bad. Corners are bad. Everything has been subpar in this match for 2 teams playing the world cup semi final.

Opinions.

Some are wrong. The match is not even interesting from a tractical point of view, just two mediocre teams playing against each other.

It's true that whether or not something is exciting is an opinion.
But when so many people boil down whether or not something is "interesting/exciting" solely to how many goals there are/how many shots on goal there are... Well, I guess I'm just glad that I'm able to enjoy Football for more than that.

And, if "mediocre teams playing against each other" couldn't be interesting, no one would follow lower levels of Football.

Perhaps you are. I really doubt the majority of the people rushing to this thread to complain are doing the same, though. NeoGAF is a fun complement to watching something, but bandwagon effect + constant distraction = a slanted perspective.

The defense has been strong today, but the offense has also been lacking. The two aren't mutually exclusive.
