The final will be a completely new game. The pressure on the German team is huge and I'm not too sure if we can cope with that. ARG found their way into the tournament and they have the means to limit the room for the German offence.
Wow, I'm so hyped right now. (The beer might have an effect right now, too, I guess.)

If you actually think you saw either team play Costa Rica anti football tonight maybe football isn't your sport and something like gymnastics would be better suited for you .

great retort. havent heard that one before. yes Holland were an attacking power house tonight. congrats.

Am I the only one here not feeling any signs of sadness?

I am just damn proud of what this group achieved. A group where we all thought they would barely make it through the group stage.

Argentina and the Netherlands played it safe and defensively strategic, but I think the latter inched ahead of being more on the offensive. They seemed to have had possession of the ball more than the Argentinian team. In my humble opinion, I don't see Argentina coming out as the winner on Sunday, unless they repeat their strategy and bolster their defense like "Iron Wall" Greece, then go to penalty kicks again.

Same. I don't care and frankly I was bored after 240 minutes no goal. I grew up with a different kind of Dutch football.

Vlaar was by far one of the worst players on the pitch. If he can't even take a penalty at this level and point of the tournament he has nothing to do. Useless

Snailder is already shite, everyone knows it. He's never been more than an average player in his entire career. People pretend he was good at Inter but even Taribo West could have been world class there. It's fucking Inter.

RVP contributes less than what Luiz did for Brazil yesterday.

Messi was for the most part useless in the game. I can't understand how people say Messi > CR7. Messi didn't give a fuck about the game let alone the penalty shootout.

Holland and Argentina are both shit.

Vlaar was good I thought.

The rest I agree with. Although our expectations were VERY low. Almost no one in Holland predicted us to reach the knockout. Which we did and we even won the group with 9 points.

But yes our generation isn't the best. Its a sad fate of smaller country. We don't have many options to pick and a group of players need to be world class at the same time.

I haven't watched one damn entertaining Argentina game this tournament. Looking forward to them getting destroyed by Germany.

Netherlands sucks for not attacking more. They should've had this match, but getting your first good chance at the 90th minute is inexcusable.

Same, I was way more gutted 4 years ago. Or that loss against Russia in 2008.
Amazing performance from this team. And we'll always remember that brilliant match against Spain.

after that performance i dont think i can place messi in the same league as maradona and i am a huge messi fan. he played horrible, big players are supposed to lead their team through the knockout stage, messi was class in the group stage but quite crap since his last game.

i want messi to win wc because he is the greatest player i have ever seen but not like this. he needs a stand out performance against germany if they are to win, i hope he delivers but im not holding my breath. germany are going to suffocate him in midfield.
Come on, he was man-marked and always with 3 or 4 players on him. In such a tactical match it's hard to play well. Not even Robben played well.

Sneijder deserves a much better team than Galatasaray. He should really be in one of the big euro teams.

He isn't the type of player for that. He is loved in Istanbul with a great bank account, great weather and a beautiful girlfriend.

He has done his part. He practically carried us Dutch to the finals in 2010.

Since there's still players like Ronaldo. The difference is, everywhere Ronaldo goes he performs. So far Messi mostly shines at Barca. There is no accurate reliable way to measure who's the greatest and Messi had his moments, but this WC is not very convincing in the debate about GOAT or not. And better then Pele or Maradona? Hard to tell but doubtful.

wait... are you talking about "the best ever"?? in history?? If so, i am sorry. I think that messi has been the best since he started playing, compared to the players in those years.

I DONT know who is the best "in history", because nobody knows. You cant know. People like to play that game of saying thing like: "if player A was born 4 years before, player B would have won nothing". And things like that...

You should, and i'm proud for you as well.
Such an incredible game.

I almost need one of these. Well played, man.

No , Sneijder wants to party instead of playing serious football .
They had a rough time getting him in shape again which succeeded only partially so it's probably over for him now .

I think we simply had been exposed.

They found out Sneijder and RVP weren't threats. They could focus more on Robben and his games went progressively worse from great goals, to an assist and to nothing in the last few games.

You can only play as good as your opponent lets you do. Robben was nearly taken out of the game and this had an effect on the Dutch offence as such. But I wish they would have been more active in extra time, too. Maybe too tired?

Cillessen has no presence. He's 2 inches shorter than Krul but Krul looks huge on the line, Cillessen looks lost.

This analysis is so shitty that I think you need to send your resume to ESPN immediately.

No sadness at all, only pride. I really hope this awesome team spirit stays around for the next tournaments too. Can't say it enough, but proud of the team!

I thought Robben played fine for someone with so much pressure on him. Hell, he dealt with the pressure better than Messi.

If anyone was awful, it was Van Persie.

Took a break at work to watch the extra time and penalties, and I was a complete mess. Romero came up huge, despite GAF laughing at me back in the first OT when I said he's a solid keeper. In fact, our entire back line which is supposed to suck came up big today.

My hat is off to the Dutch who played a strong match today. Both teams looked evenly skilled, though I suspect fatigue and the wet conditions impacted the passing quality.

The ref did a great job of not getting in the way of the game while keeping things balanced, aka not calling garbage Robben dives (three times!).

I'm elated. 1990 rematch like I've predicted for a month now. Let's roll!

Argentina campeon, carajo!

Yeah I felt strangely calm after the Pks.

Even match with coin toss at the end.

I predicted Arg-Ger in my Poule as well, so feel weirdly Ok with it all.

Proud of the team.

I'm not taking anything away from Argentina; they played very strong defensively. As did the Netherlands, for the most part.

But if I'm the Dutch coach (and I'm not, I don't look like a rooster, nor do I know a hell of a lot about football), I'm going into this game with a stronger offensive mind. I didn't feel like they were playing for penalties, but the game almost seemed delegated to kicks.

Which leads me to another question: why did they not save a substitution for their reserve goalie?

I don't understand why FIFA schedules the final so close to the second semi-final. Kind of ridiculous, one team is gonna have less rest than the other.
