First impressions of The Last of Us: Remastered (Game Informer)

I'm assuming the option means that the game either has drops or plays under 60 but over 30. Either way, hopefully this might make all the 60fps or die people reconsider

Sure it was :) I think you will try it to! One way or the other

The Last of Us: Remastered: Can We Get Cyber Hooked On Phonics?

Seriously, the only comments on frame rate point to occasional dips, with the journalist straight up saying he still considers it to be a 60 FPS game. Quit acting like you're being coy because you know something other than how to murder the English language.

They're good all the time, most of the time***

But seriously, when they do fuck up, it usually blows up into a big scandal. It speaks to how much they're 'generally' trusted.

I missed the Watch Dogs fuck up. What was the issue this time?

The good side of 30fps option is give people the chance to see the difference that 60fps do. The bad side is that maybe we have that option because is not solid 60fps.

If it didn't had a option people would bitch, but it does have the option and people still bitch lols.

Looks fucking incredible IMO.

Oh come on....

If your cruise control occasionally drops to 59 when you have it set at 60, would you say it wasn't working properly, or that it does what's intended about as well as expected given the technology?
I expect my cruise control to automatically launch rockets at police officers when they observe me travelling in excess of the posted speed limit. I also expect re-mastered games to give me a handy-j when I buy them for a reasonable price...

whats so hard to understand?

I'm perfectly fine with anything down to Tomb Raider performance. It still played great at the 50-ish fps it fluctuated around.

Oh, absolutely. If those shots aren't downsampled, I'm amazed by the IQ.

Does the 30 lock not affect the cinematics too?

They're prerendered and ND was talking about how they had trouble fitting everything on one disc, so I'd assume they won't have both.

I like it!
But you are mean.........Im not born with English :( :( you broke my heart! Mean mean boy. Im going to cry now

The game’s gritty, destroyed environments look crisper

Not sure if more crispy is what I want for gritty environments. We'll see

Besides that, isn't this the most lazy HD remaster? Nothing of what has changed sounds like it takes more than a few days implementing it with some of the stuff probably coming for free.

Where is the enhanced geometry and the improved lighting? Is it in but just not on the list?

The Last of Us Remastered | OT | Implemented in a few days

If you haven't played this will be completely worth it but i don't see a reason to get the remaster if you have played it.

Oh true, I forgot pretendered cutscenes take up a ton of space. Yeah then that would be very jarring going from 30fps sing player to a 60 cutscene.

I don't think you understand what would actually go in to upgrading the game.

so people "asked" for a 30fps mode...

Yes, better lightning, particles and geometry is in. All characters [friendly and hostile] are upgraded, and better world geometry is present in areas where they recorded their cinematics. They are not mad to start producing brand new geometry for entire game... For those areas that are not covered by cinematics, they probably upgraded only the "worst offenders".

Finally some reason present in this thread. 50-60fps fluctuation should be acceptable. TLoU was late in the PlayStation 3 cycle. It's not like we're talking a remaster of Uncharted 1.

Since some people asked for it, we added an optional 30fps mode (gameplay & cinematics). My pref is 60fps all the way. #remastered
Can we stop talking about this now?

edit: beaten

Nothing. I've learned that I need to start demanding more from life. Good day to you, sir (dons hat)

I like it!

Well, if that's true, then (I promised myself I'd never do this) I'm sorry, Cyber. I'll refrain from making remarks about your ability to use the English language in the future.

I didn't say that. They had to write a new engine, but stuff like increasing texture or shadow map size should be a matter of hours.

Don't know if they mean better LOD algorithm or higher quality LODs, the first would be nice and maybe takes some days, the second maybe is a shitload of work for the 3D departement.

Draw distance comes for free, if they are not stupid, don't know what it cost NOT to implement streaming or to remove the code.

Higher res particle effects? That's hopfully nice, but probably takes not more than fiddling with a few parameters.

This game was highly optimized for the cell processor if the ps3 porting it to the ps4 was not a walk in the park.

The 30 FPS option might convert people to 60 FPS if they switch back and forth p,

That's fine for me. Wonder why it is not on the list.

That's great, very favorable impressions. I'm really looking forward to this since I missed it the first time around. The screenshots look fantastic, I'm really psyched.
