Who asked for 30 fps? What knackers. I want to see the emails and tweets or whatever it was. With people requesting a 30fps option

Console only gamers, I'd guess. At least I can't imagine any PC gamer who'd prefer 30fps.

I wonder. I feel like this game will average mid-upper 50s in the framerate department. I'm curious to see how many people see that and declare "ha! not 60fps!" As if most non-fighting/racing games that are '60fps' on consoles are locked.
Ehh, I have heard some people feel sick with watching cutscenes and quick moving camera pans at 60fps. I think it was a topic in the Ground Zeroes thread a while ago. It's always a good thing when I game gives you more options.
For me, 60fps is where its at. I already played through the PS3 version at a lower framerate.
I am curious if the option with be in multiplayer. Seems like it would give the player a massive disadvantage.
Those screenshots... it doesn't look quite impressive as I tought it would be since it's supposed to be a remastered version of a PS exclusive by Naughty Dog on PS4. Maybe because I was expecting graphics to look almost like the Uncharted 4 trailer. This only looks crisper and that's it, not much difference over the PS3 version. I'm sure it will look 99% better on screen with those FPS additions and stuff tough.![]()

Same trophies I would assume. Or do you mean shared? Not a shared list. Are we getting a new trophy set or is it the same ?
"light bar will flash and change colors when you take damage."

Count me among those that think the 30fps option is a great idea.
How is this beneficial when you have to flip your controller around to see this? All the other changes are nice.

Decoding normally, but displaying every other frame.Ok, excuse my ignorance here as I know jack shit of how video playback and framerates actually work. We know that Naughty Dog uses pre-rendered videos for their cinematics (So far). If the cinematics for the remaster are rendered in 60fps, how will the console play them in 30fps? Is that possible when the source video is 60fps?
Most people won't even care to switch or even check it out.
I've never seen so many complaints over an option.
Shouldn't you want this to be there? People can immediate switch between 30 FPS and 60 FPS to really see the differences on their big screen TVs. You'll rarely see games like this running at 60 FPS on consoles. People are going to be shocked if they toggle the options and see how fluid 60 FPS compared to 30 FPS. They'll most likely want games more AAA games to look like that.
Sure, I agree, it should feel better to the player. But everything I've experienced is that super smooth framerate makes people who watch feel bad very quickly, although it could also be the fact that games with high framerate sort of invite you to fly all over the place and swoosh the camera around quicker. I have yet to see the (more or less locked) 30FPS game where you kind of go around slower and move camera at a bit slower pace have that effect on anyone. They'd feel much worse if the framerate was 30 instead of 60, and the priority is that it must feel better for the player, not necessarily for the watchers. The less fluid the movement is and the worse my mates feel. And in my experience the nausea is usually much more related to FOV than framerate. You're underestimating a lot of facts.
My anectodes > yours

Well when the medium should be aiming at 60fps it is relevant.
Not really. ND's lead programmer promised a constant 60fps.1. A lot of people over at Naughty Dog are saying that it runs at 60fps, and there's no reason to doubt them. However, no one ever claimed it'd be locked.

The default is 60 fps.

I really do pray that posters that think about pulling that think about what they are about to post. It's prime potential post history serving when they post about other games with similar performances.
Didn't stop Ground Zeroes from being awesome in 60fps.

Also, another thing where the 30FPS lock works wonders is if you want to play remote on Vita. It made a world of difference in that scenario for KZ:SF, Infamous and even TRE.
Talk about beating a dead horse. We have confirmation direct from the devs and people still have to question it?
but but but... this thread is already like 5,000 kelvin.Expect a lot of heat if TLOU isn't locked.
Vita games can work at 60 of course, but Remote Play works at 30FPS only, *but* does a terrible job of discarding frames correctly on games that run at above 30 so you get some really, really weird jumpyness, which is completely eliminated when you lock the PS4 game down to 30 with a provided option.Really? Even though the Vita runs at 30 anyway, having the game lock it to 30 is better? Interesting.
I guess that's related to what I just said then, having the devs lock it at 30 will result in a better frame time than other half assed ways to lock a game at 30.
Mario Kart drops ONE frame (or rather, doubles it) once every 2 seconds and folks made a thing of that.
Expect a lot of heat if TLOU isn't locked.
Exactly? I'm saying very few people will care to switch to 30 to see the difference.
A locked 60fps with a locked 30fps option purely for personal preference seems like the perfect win/win to me.You can't bloody win with gamers it seems.

I'm going to cancel my pre order. Financial reasons since I am not playing video games much right now.
I seriously think people are used to last gen games still. 60fps was not a part of last gen. Maybe they're just not used to the change yet? I dunno I have no idea, just trying to find reasoning.
I remember reading people that really didn't like how the cinematic intro of Ground Zeroes was in 60fps. Made some of them motion sick, or otherwise felt wrong. I could see others having a similar issue here, at least until people get acclimated to higher framerate storytelling in more games and films.I seriously think people are used to last gen games still. 60fps was not a part of last gen. Is it so impossible to think some people don't like the aesthetic of 60FPS?
It's certainly a stretch of the imagination... but whatevsies. To each his own,Is it so impossible to think some people don't like the aesthetic of 60FPS?
