It feels like some people are just eagerly waiting to pounce on them. Is there any reason why?
because they never bought the PlayStation 3 and probably cannot afford the PlayStation 4

Nice that you can choose your resolution.
I don't get why more devs dont allow this on consoles.
I guess they just play the cutscenes at 30 FPS dynamically. Otherwise this would never fit on the disc lol
I bet it will if there are even slight frame dips here and there. Remote play just doesn't resolve those well at all. That's a really interesting point, didn't know about this.
It'll be interesting to test with The Last of Us if even locked 60 benefits from locking it at 30 before playing on Vita.

Does anybody know if the pulse modes thing from the PS3 work on PS4 as well? I think there's no app there, but if I set my headset to The Last of Us, will it work as intended?
Frame rate not resolution

Not really. ND's lead programmer promised a constant 60fps.
But, looking further over the thread it looks like that 30fps option is there because of personal preference and not unstable framerate, so it seems like that promise is still being kept. Let the good times roll.
Thanks for the informationI'm going to cancel my pre order. Financial reasons since I am not playing video games much right now.
You must be jokingThose screenshots... it doesn't look quite impressive as I tought it would be since it's supposed to be a remastered version of a PS exclusive by Naughty Dog on PS4. Maybe because I was expecting graphics to look almost like the Uncharted 4 trailer. This only looks crisper and that's it, not much difference over the PS3 version. I'm sure it will look 99% better on screen with those FPS additions and stuff tough.![]()
So that means you expected it to never dip below 60fps?Not really. ND's lead programmer promised a constant 60fps.
GAF hiccup? Wasn't me, and that's not the first time I've seen that happen. Weird.Lol you quoted Orayn but I'm the one you're quoting
I'm hoping they work the exact same way as they did on the PS3. The mix is pretty damn great with that headset.
Locked framerates are not unicorns, and the word constant doesn't mean fluctuating. So that means you expected it to never dip below 60fps?
Locked framerates are not unicorns, and the word constant doesn't mean fluctuating.
But the real answer is this: If you notice frame drops in regular play then no, that's not locked or constant. I'm taking ND at their word that I won't notice frame drops.
That tweet doesn't really promise there's no drops. Not really. ND's lead programmer promised a constant 60fps.
AA as in anti-aliasing?I'm actually FOR for devs to add "cinematic mode" to their games. It would contain a lower framerate, cropped image, blur effects, post processing filters, AA and camera dirt. Then the actual "game mode" would be free of that crap.
Well maybe it's a bit too much promise no drops. That tweet doesn't really promise there's no drops.
Lol@ this thread. There isn't a major console game running at 60fps that doesn't drop a frame. None of them are ever truly "locked".
Can't wait for the comparison thread when the frames dip to the 50's. "OMG naughty dog lied to us! Preorder cancelled!"
Still doesn't really mean it won't dip below 60fps in "heavy" scenesLocked framerates are not unicorns, and the word constant doesn't mean fluctuating.

It's a Remaster built on legacy code, not a game built from the ground up on PS4.Those screenshots... it doesn't look quite impressive as I tought it would be since it's supposed to be a remastered version of a PS exclusive by Naughty Dog on PS4. Damn it's hard detect sarcasm in those days for me.Naughty Dog just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about remaster culture (I'm an expert), but a silky smooth 60FPS is a huge part of it. It's not like it is in brand new games where you can become successful by locking it to 30FPS. If you offer a 30FPS option, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the remaster purchasing public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase TLOU for either system, nor will they purchase any of Naughty Dog's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Naughty Dog has alienated an entire market with this move.
Naughty Dog, publicly apologize and remove the 30FPS option or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Keep your expectations in check. Because it seems like you played a lot of games with 60fps on consoles.
.
Its sarcasm, the original post is about when Final Fantasy 13 came to Xbox 360, and that Square Enix needed to apologize for that (since they said that it was originally a PS3 exclusive).Damn it's hard detect sarcasm in those days for me.
I think maybe that's why they waited so long. At the end of the day, it's still a PS3 game. There's only so much they can do to improve and optimize it.
Yea, with that completely unrealistic expectation I could see why you would be disappointed.
Wholly fuck? Really? UC4?
The thread that keeps on giving
ROFL, were you seriously expecting that? It's called Remaster and not a Remake for a reason, it isn't built up from the ground and tailored with the console specs in mind like UC4.
You must be joking
Damn it's hard detect sarcasm in those days for me.
Never forget: A "Remaster" isn't a complete "Remake"Ok, yeah I exaggerated with the concept of TLOU Remastered having similar graphics as the Uncharted 4 trailer. It's a remastered version anyway and again, I'm 100% sure it will look crazy good on screen/motion with those new graphical additions.
Does anybody know if the pulse modes thing from the PS3 work on PS4 as well? I think there's no app there, but if I set my headset to The Last of Us, will it work as intended?
The PS4 has the headset app, if that is what you mean. There doesn't appear to be a TLOU setting loaded into it yet, but since the setting is saved on the Headset after syncing, I wouldn't see why you couldn't sync TLOU setting from the PS3 app (if they dont upload it to the PS4 app) and then play the game on PS4. The settings are just tweaking the audio settings, so it should work.
Is that what you mean?
I've been able to play the game.
For a quick definition it's like playing the PS3 game on a high end pc. There are imrpoves in the IQ, fps and other effects like LOD, but it isn't a gamechanger.
Hye guys what's the problem with 50/60fps instead of locked 60??
Please name a single game with solid graphics and solid 60fps.
No, COD isn't a good choice, because it isn't solid 60fps, altough noone ever criticized it for that... also, if you consider how bad the graphic is.. meh...
Nobody expected a "gamechanger" in a remaster.I've been able to play the game.

Oh, right, will the remove HUD thing be only for screenshots or can I play this way? It would be interesting to play on Grounded and with no HUD, having to actually count your bullets would be an interesting experience.
When you play on Grounded mode it removes the HUD. You are in the dark, in the dark.
Honestly, I thought that Tomb Raider ran fine on PS4. If TLoU runs the same then I'll be ok with it.If I were to guess, the framerate will be like the Tomb Raider release on PS4, where it mostly stays in the 40-60 range, depending on what's going on.
It is the same game, you know.
