Sam Wilson (The Falcon) is the New Captain America

Sam Wilson is a lame, so I don't really care.

That said, I am surprised at how well everyone online is taking this. I guess people blew all their nerd rage on female Thor? Or do we just have to wait for the morning when everyone is awake for folk to really turn up?

Nah, they will keep it around just as an offshoot to appeal to the tumblr crowd. This is the same line that marketed the Ultimates relaunch as "Hey look, a superhero team with no white male characters."

Ultimate FF launched at cancelation numbers and All New Ultimates isn't all that much better so its probably going to be by next year. It makes no sense for them to keep it around when the only book that's getting read is USM.

This is just like what DC did with Wally West recently. We know he's freaking black from his skin color! Stop funking up the masks by showing the hair too. That has never been a good look except for on Booster Gold.

*google searches Booster Gold*......no wait, his mask looks stupid too.

The Batwing character has his top off too, I'm not sure what's the reasoning behind not giving them full helmets.

Saying that though, I have never read that comic, so maybe I'm unaware that he has an inability to wear a full helmet or something.

Because its the biggest non secret in comics at the moment. Marvel trying to hide it afterward was just hilarious

He doesn't. And yeah, it looks dumb.

True. However, you and I both know a good number of the people who raged over Miles a few years ago and female Thor this week don't even read comics, and their reasons for raging had nothing to do with how much it made sense in the story.

Also it's not a controversial look. Besides from Bucky, who else is there but the Falcon?

Would anyone be disturbed if war machine took over Iron man for 6 months. No one would care.

Psylock is a Japanese ninja, although she was originally a British woman. I've never been too clear on how she changed ethnicities like that.

Without going to Wikipedia, if I remember right, she had to transfer her consciousness in to her current body for some reason.

Psylocke was originally a lesser, British, purple Jean Grey, and then she got flushed down a magic plot device that lets you start a new life somewhere else (the perfect thing for characters who aren't radical enough).

She landed unconscious in Japan, and was found by ninjas. A female ninja was dying, and they figured they could save her life by mind-swapping her with Psylocke against her will. The Japanese girl's body woke up with Psylocke's mind inside of it, so they brainwashed Psylocke into becoming one of them and attacking the XMen.

The XMen de-brainwashed her, and Psylocke became a slutty Japanese ninja XMan.

The British body with a confused Japanese girl's mind inside of it later woke up and tried to join the XMen, but then she died of mutie-AIDS before anything interesting could come of that.

Ugh. This is an outrage! How dare they do this bullshit. I mean...Deathlok? Lamest of the lame.

Oh, but Sam taking over as Cap makes sense. That has been a mantle since day 1, so anybody can be him and Sam is one of his oldest allies.

Why not just keep him Falcon, I mean thats who he is, trying to put him in the Cap suit will force him to change his entire skillset due to the expectations coming with it. I am however glad they didnt stick Winter Soldier with this role again, guy needs to be his own man

That f up. Like really :/

Thats my main question mark on this. Winter soldier had a skillset that fit and added strength.

Should have been Luke Cage.

The only good thing is they at least chose Falcon to replace Cap who at least has quite a bit of back story and history with Cap. Plus it's pretty much Captain Falcon who I love in smash. ;)

I still stand by Miles being horrible though. :P

It makes sense for Falcon to take over the role.

Though he does lose the fish out of water dynamic that Rogers has from being suspended in ice.

They killed off Peter Parker in the Ultimate Universe and replaced him with the horrible Miles Morales.I wish they would just create new heroes and promote those characters more than remove the classics. Disrespectful to the audiences who follow them.
Get out.

no reason to turn up, its not that crazy of a move and winter soldier was cap just a couple years ago. I am surprised to hear there was nerd rage about Lady Thor after the news they were keeping aaron as the writer on the book. I could see his removal getting people pissed deservedly if that had happened.

Anyhow anyone over a certain age should know these changes are just longer version story lines because we saw a the status quo returned in the last 2 years of stories that made major changes that went back about 5 to 7. Superior Spiderman was a interesting character and it took 2 issues for them to replace him with Pete when Marvel felt like it and it'll be the same with Lady Thor and Captain Falcon. If anything people should appreciate these storylines just because at least marvel is trying new stuff instead of those god damn mega events of the last decade/

Psylocke is more interesting when you think of her as the weeaboo fantasy taken to its extreme conclusion. See also: Wolverine.

Also, this announcement makes me want a minority Robin even more. Come on, DC. Don't bother bringing Damian back. Drop the bomb.

His costume looks stupid. I hope he's not gonna be flying around. Doesn't seem very cap esque. They really need to lose the mask and goggles.

Edit: also Sunfire is Asian... And Armor (I think that's the name of the Japanese girl that turns into a mech).

Dude, Rogers Cap has been unfrozen since the 60s. I think he's acclimated.

Yeah, I am sure that well is dry as far as comics go.

Even Falcon is from the 70s. It's funny because the gap from his debut to current times is way larger the gap between WW2 cap and his return in the 60s. Of course they can't bring that up without shedding light on how bizarre it is that these characters don't age at a normal rate.

Peter's back and Miles owns.

i wonder if steve'll get it back from Red Skull like Waid did in the 90's

either way, cool to see Falcon get more time to shine

In other words Captain America is nothing more than a serum. Batman wins.

this ranks with the racial stuff in this thread as most offensive post
the fact too many of you don't recognize just how bad cap would stomp bats is a testament to the sorry state of our public school system

The first Batwing did. When the role was passed to Luke Fox, they fixed that and he got what was basically the Batman Beyond suit with blue highlights instead of red.

It's not going to stick. Especially given the movies. And in a year and a half the black usurper will be relegated to sidekick once more when Steve Rogers returns as the 'true' Captain America. Hello again, square one.

I fucking hate that part of comics.

all the writers at Marvel collaborate with one another. All the changes to Iron Man, Cap and Thor will be resolved in the story Hickman has been working towards since he started working on the Avengers. That resolution should be around or just before the movie next summer.

And later on, when Hickman's run is collected you have a complete story, beginning to end, to enjoy.
