Jeff doesn't like Yoshi's Island. He thinks it's a bad game made that might as well have been made by a third-party like TOSE that Nintendo just threw their name on.

When people disagree, he gets further entrenched and won't change his mind. That's basically it.

Unsuccessful? Compared to what? I'm pretty sure it's the highest selling FE game and Sakurai had no problem putting FE characters in Smash when the game was Japan only and Roy before he even HAD a game

They don't hate nintendo, but they also don't follow it closely enough to make educated suggestions/predictions about nintendo stuff. The usually like a lot of nintendo stuff, but to hear them speculate or talk about nintendo stuff, they're clearly not in the know, nor do they care to be.

If there was a shot for him, I'd probably want him even more than I'd want Ridley. And my desire for a fully playable Ridley is as big as the dragon himself.
Too big to ever be fulfilled... :(

I also seriously want to play those games, too, but the Wii U VC can't even cover what its predecessor already had long before this point, so between that and the recent suit Philips subjected Nintendo to, even if King Harkinian's technically from the cartoon, he's never showing up again, not even in Hyrule Warriors.

I'm not a Fire Emblem fan so I didn't know who Robin was at first either, but that's not evidence of them running out of characters.

God, it's like the people, regarding Pokémon, who claim that Game Freak are "out of ideas" just because they don't like some of the new designs. No, they're not out of ideas or out of characters, you just don't like their designs/choice, and that's fine everyone's different and has different likes, but don't be an idiot and say they're running out of ideas.

So I think the argument for people who don't really follow Nintendo or are disillusioned with Nintendo is that the new character picks aren't "iconic" Nintendo characters to them. This dovetails in to one of the bigger Nintendo complaints, that they aren't making new IPs and characters, so every new Smash Bros. is going to have characters that they consider reaching because, in their eyes, Nintendo output has just been Mario and Zelda for the last generation.

To someone that doesn't follow Nintendo and never played Fire Emblem Awakening, announcing two characters from the game might be a "Really, you do this but don't have (insert character from youth) yet?" thing.

It's still somewhat an asinine comment.

They should say that, say that they want a classic character, not claim they're running out.

Ah well. It's irrelevant in the long run. Journalists are just people, just with a wider audience.

I meant the second e-mail, where the leaker said that he doesn't know everything about schedule and such. That poster was saying that the second e-mail was received by Gematsu before the video, but I'm pretty sure I remember it being presented by Gematsu as the leaker's reply after the video.
 
Just finished listening to that particular Bombcast segment. I completely overreacted to what was said. It seems more like they are just confused about these characters rather than actually being against them showing up in Smash Bros.

Basically it lets me see what some dude thought smash bros should be like (or what that person thinks OTHER people want smash bros to be like). It's a long, detailed, thought out guess at what that person thinks the game will be.

It's also more fun if we don't know if it's real or not, but even debunked fake ones give you an insight into someone crazy enough to spend a ton of time and effort imagining what smash brothers could potentially be.

Regardless of fake/real, that's a nice stage list for the 3DS. And would confirm that 3DS version will be the only one to get Melee stages. Plus, it has Vegas Palace from F-Zero GX. This must happen!

Someone (please, Sakurai) should really give this wonderful character some love and attention. I severely doubt he will make the roster, but perhaps can be an assist trophy (maybe already has, I'm not very active in this thread?).
 
Okay, so this is probably overdone at this point, but what would be the PERFECT roster to you? Let's say you have 49 slots to fill and you don't have to include anyone who has already been revealed.

Lucario is not even a clone of Mewtwo in the first place (they just share similar neutral B moves) so I don't know why he would be an alt.
