Tom and Jerry: Are we all in agreement that Jerry was the bad guy?

jerry was the biggest troll but there was some episodes were it was deserved. Like the one where tom was using him as fishing bait
 
Jerry is Victarion Greyjoy. People like him because he's indomitable and has style, but fuck if he isn't a total sociopath.
 
Jerry was a definition of an attention whore but when Tom finally gave the chase, he's all "Oh noez, the big bad cat is after me". WTF?! Maybe you shouldn't antagonize the cat in the first place.
 
Oh, absolutely. And Tweety Bird as well, giving his similar dynamic to Sylvester. I was always rooting for him to eat that mothafucka

Funny enough, I don't feel this way about Wil E. Coyote and the Road Runner. I always just pitied him that he was stuck in an environment where the only food source was impossible to kill, and he couldn't order any food from ACME apparently. Road Runner wasn't nearly as antagonistic as Jerry or Tweety Bird's little annoying ass.

Spike and Tom would've gotten along fine, respected each other's space and all that, but then Jerry being a little fuck had to frame Tom and make Spike beat the shit out of him.

I pitied him, but survival of the fittest. The Road Runner was just way smarter. It helped that the Road Runner rarely ever started stuff against Coyote.
 
It changed from episode to episode but as a kid there were episodes which infuriated me when Jerry got away with all the shit he did to Tom.
Also even at the age of 57 my dad laughs his lungs out when he sees a Tom & Jerry episode, it's just weird seeing him watch it with my niece and laugh more than her.
 
All I remember is Jerry being a huge cock block.

I can be like this when it comes to Bugs Bunny. Throw him and Yosemite Sam together, and I'm laughing my ass off the whole episode.
 
I despised Jerry. Little fuck kept causing misery to Tom and yet he almost always got away with it. Sure there were times when Tom was the aggressor, but they were few and far between. He won even less.

I can't find the clip, but there is one episode where Tom wins. He captures Jerry and traps him in a bottle, with a gun pointed at it. It's my favorite episode of the old series.

Yeah, my parents thought I was strange since I hated Jerry and the Road Runner as a kid.
I just saw through their cute and innocent facade to the true dickishness within.

I don't know if Chuck Jones created this art style, but I hate it. It looks very cheap compared to the earlier shorts.

And yes, Jerry was a complete asshole. Poor Tom was just doing his job, or relaxing, then up comes Jerry, and wrecks his shit.

Also, I had a similar feeling about Drake and Josh regarding Josh. Some episodes the sister and Drake would shit all over him and lol. I can't remember what happened exactly, but at the end of one episode I was furious.

I always felt sorry for Tom since he's just a cat doing his job.

I also dislike how others cats like Butch try to ruin his fun, like getting a girlfriend and all.

There was that episode when Tom inherits his rich uncle's money on the condition that he can't hurt anything - even a mouse. Jerry finds out and proceeds to egg the shit out of him. I guess that episode was the perfect distillation of Jerry's assholeness.

There *were* some episodes were Jerry wasn't at fault though, such as when he's just eating some food (not even Tom's food) and Jerry starts shit with him though. Or when Jerry is trying to save other creatures Tom tries to eat (like that annoying duckling, the French mouse or the sea lion).
 
Most times, Tom is actively trying to get to Jerry, so it's justified for the most part, but still annoying to see Tom rarely win.
Tweety on the other hand actively tries to do in Sylvester and always wins.
