I got a warlock that's got 155 defense, a 62 attack cydonia AR and I can probably shoot a titan 5 times before he even sees me and all he has to do is shoot back and kill me in half the time. It's a joke man.

When your looking at your character's skills tree, look at the armor...you need to increase that to take more hits. Titans have natrually high armor and with skills, can fill that armor bar up.

I think that armor is how much health they have, and defense is damage mitigation.

AI is fantastic. Create a new character, and play through the highest difficulty in the beta, even when under leveled. You have to execute those head shots and you learn each enemy's pattern. I'm enjoying it so much I wish there were something with more challenge solo for the beta at level 8. I especially love doing the last story mission near the end. The deaths are punishing, reminds me of bonfires in Dark Souls.
There's a great clip in a video by DattoDoesDestiny (the one about the Warlock in PvE I think) that shows all these hive running toward him, and him throwing a grenade right in the middle of the hallway, thinking they'll all just run into it and die.

But literally every single one stops before they get to the grenade. And while he was busy looking at the hive that were waiting for the grenade to dissipate, he was struck from behind by a huge portion of that same crowd, realizing they had fled into the darkness and flanked him from a path he didn't realize was there.

Edit: Here's the clip I'm talking about.

Something needs to be done about Warlocks getting the shit end of the stick with their class armor. You can't even see the armbands.

edit: seems I'm definitely not alone. The armband just sucks, Bungie. Whoever thought of it clearly hates the warlock class. :|

Finally beat the devil's layer strike event thing. Either the game glitched out at the final boss battle or the other two players bitched out..so ended up fighting that pain in the ass for a while (I was lvl 5 and had just hit lvl 6 when the boss battle started). In the end two other players joined in.

How lucky for them tho right? Come in and help me beat the guy who is almost finished thanks to my effort and get a nice share of the bounty too

But yeah very fun and addictive game..this thing should do really well in the market

Anyone ever complete that live event where you have to kill a Fallen boss before it reaches 6 checkpoints?

I got it 3 times, and completed it twice. The only time I didn't complete it was because it was only me and 1 other person, and we couldn't inflict enough damage before the target retreated. The other times, it was 4-5 people all unloading on him, and he went down fairly quickly.

The Hallowed Knight was a lot easier than the Fallen Captain though in those events. The Knight seemed to just take the hits and try and run, whereas the Captain was rushing anyone that got too close and OHK them easily. Anyone about 15 feet from the Captain was dead in seconds, it was intense.

Luke fix this shit.

The public event where you have to kill the Hive in front of the strike is next to impossible. I've encountered it around 3 times now and the fucker just books it to the last checkpoint every time.

I'll have you know our Wizard robes are very trendy and help me to dry off after a warm bath. Take that Hunters!

Real Guardians know Exo Warlocks are best Guardians.

??? You mean the spider thing? I finished it with some other people.

Same here. We almost get him then he just takes the fuck off toward the end

I can't wait to play the beta. Sadly I have to wait until tomorrow for a code(I did not preorder the game, but I found a way to get a code) and I won't be able to play until the 23rd because I will be playing the 360 version of the beta.

No no, not the spider. There's like a super Hive Knight that spawns just outside the strike in the rocket yard as a public event. You have to kill him before he reaches the sixth checkpoint.

It's impossible though at this level, I've had 5 or 6 people wailing away at him, but he just ignores you and runs straight towards the last checkpoint.

Ohhh I've encountered that, yeah seems impossible at level 8, he just escapes.

It's to make the special weapons more balanced. Or so Bungie says. Id rather just have it for PvP and not PvE.

It's not. They specifically said it's to penalize you for switching weapons mid game. I'm ok with it too. Makes you plan ahead and think about what you're going to use.

Ayup. It's also a consequence for how you feel like approaching certain encounters (long or short range).

Then what would be the point in carrying all those other weapons? I'd rather not have to go back to the Tower to switch out a sniper for a shotgun.

It was the same in the Alpha so I presumed it was a bug until they talked about it on IGN livestream that they chose it to be that way. It's fucking stupid.

It's to prevent you from shooting a sniper rifle then shooting a shotgun on the fly. It's in PvE to add a certain rhythm to the encounters.
That's so you're not completely defenseless, and they're not insta-kill like the shotgun or sniper.

Hmm I don't think it's a good decision for PvE either. I don't know why I'm supposed to know beforehand what the mission will require of me or which weapons will be best in that situation. Like, the darkness mission is great with a shotgun and a Strike mission is great with a sniper but I wouldn't have guessed which mission is good with which weapon. It's too restrictive in playstyles because it's not like in Halo where you can just pick up an enemy needler or plasma rifle and change up your strategy on the fly. I would like to have the choice and choose my own rhythm.

Starting to make my official wish list of changes for the release version.
UI/OPTIONS
  • Audio cues for when your melee and grenade abilities are ready. Doesn't need to be anything dramatic, just some simple ping/chirp.
  • Remove the complete ammo loss for switching special weapons in PvE.
  • Continuing from previous, consider removing weapon switching from inventory in PvP instead? I assume PvP is the primary reason why it's there.
  • Special Weapons in general need higher max ammo and/or much more frequent ammo drops. It's too easy to run completely dry before crucial moments.

  • Yup.
