Is PS5 the second coming of PS2?

You're making up rules for how people can enjoy their consoles?

These games that you claim made PS2 better than PS5 are mostly playable on PS5 with enhancements & they are steadily coming + Xbox games

PS2 didn't have Uncharted, Halo , Ninja Gaiden, Forza Horizon, Last of Us , Ghost of , Fortnite, Hell Divers , Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls , Red Dead Redemption , Astro Bots , The Witcher, Hogwarts Legacy, Dark Souls , Demon's Souls, Elden Ring , Dragon's Dogma, Horizon , Rocket League, Player unknowns Battlegrounds , The Elder Scrolls , Minecraft, Roblox, Destiny, Borderlands, Mass Effect, Bioshock , Dead Space , Batman: Arkham Knight I can keep going

There might be some gems on PS2 that's still not playable on PS5 but let's be for real you're not choosing that PS2 over a PS5
The systems pretty clearly get the credit for the games they brought into the world on their platform.

You mentioned Uncharted for example. 3 of the 4 mainline Uncharted games are PS3 titles. 1 was a PS4 tile. Everybody knows you can play remasters of them on PS5… BUT just wait a second.

A PS3 owner got 3 original Uncharted games over the life of that console & The Last of Us from Naughty Dog. Pretty incredible original game output. And PS3 was a very difficult development environment.

Naughty Dog hasn't released a single original title on PS5. A console Sony says was built with an PC architecture to supposedly aid developers.

My point is, for me, owning a PS2 and PS3 was a WAY better experience than owning a PS5 because we were being fed a diet of cutting edge original stuff. PS5 ownership has been pretty lame in comparison.

Now taking that point and saying "but you can still play Uncharted on PS5!" is ridiculous.

The hardware isn't the problem and I'm not claiming it is… but the ps5 is a console and a PLATFORM. And whether you like it or not it will be judged but the quality and volume of original content vs. the earlier versions. By that standard the thing is in the running for dead last of the 5 of them. Sony has fumbled the ball on 1st part and a number of 3rd parties don't have their act together either.

Again you're making up rules for how people can enjoy a console.

Imagine trying to tell PC gamers that PC gaming is worse now because back in the day there was ,
Oregon Trail , Half-life, Counter Strike & so on & the new stuff doesn't matter because they're playable on other devices and other foolishness

PS2 killed Dreamcast & received Sega games

PS5 killed Xbox Series consoles & received Xbox games .

PS5 is now around 90 million sold while still being a fresh new product to most people so it will have a few more years on the market to overtake PS1 & PS4 to become PlayStation's second best selling console before it's all said & done.

Thie is amazing. Thank you for making my day

No the person asked where Zone of Endings 2 was at
Talking to uncritical Sony fans is like talking to a wall. I was asking where is the third party that gets to ZoE2 levels, but you'll probably answer Rise of the Ronin or some shit like that. It baffles me that someone could be satisfied with this generation's output. Even by the abysmal PS4 cinemafication standards is sub par. Sony just got lucky that Microsoft shoot themselves in the feet with a Death Star.

Please explain how so many of you claim that PlayStation is doing so bad but yet you credit their success to Xbox killing it's self?

So why didn't PlayStation kill it's self by doing so bad?

So what are the alternatives if you want a high-end console? Basically, there's only Sony left. The high PC prices are currently playing into their hands as well. Sony can't really destroy itself, because Microsoft already did that for them and demand for consoles is still there.

People in forum bubbles like this one love to complain about the low output of exclusive games, but in the real world those aren't actually that important. Sony could cancel every single exclusive they have in production and would still be very successful. GTA VI alone will probably be more important for Sony than all of their current gen exclusives combined.

You have Xbox . Please explain how Xbox doing bad is credited for PlayStation's success but yet PlayStation doing so bad yet it's not giving Xbox sales?

The Xbox is dead. It's massively overpriced, and in many places it's not even available anymore. Instead of price cuts we've seen price increases, and there haven't been any real deals for ages, not even on Black Friday. No sane person would enter that ecosystem now. In a race, when one runner gives up, the other one wins, no matter how slow he is. That said, I also think most of the criticism here aimed at Sony is exaggerated.

Because Sony making it worse than previously isn't nearly as bad (yet) as 12 years of promises, lies and diluting the brand into PC as Xbox did. All topped with worst idea ever: Netflix, but for videogames. And rising prices. As I said Sony also shoot themselves in the feet but the difference is that they used a derringer and Microsoft used a giant laser beam. The greed of Nintendo, the complacency of Valve and the negligence of Microsoft isn't a reason to prise the tomfoolery of Sony. We should aim for more as we've been given more in the past. I won't settle for this washed out Sony when I could have a better one. I want better gaming companies, not the lesser evil. I want affordable PCs for the mid range, Valve to do something significative, good first party output from Sony and Nintendo greed going from eating babies for breakfast to just SNES-GC era greed. Am I asking too much? Yes. As any European customer should. Bearing in mind that what we get is 1/10th of what we ask for is the least we can do.
