Wow it won't end for some until Microsoft leaves the console space for some I guess .
Never forget: Microsoft says Xbox One will never sell without KinectI fully agree with Jim here. They tried to sell us bullshit, praised it's anti-consumer "features" and then reversed them without apology when PS4 preoder numbers exploded after E3.
Xbone will forever be tainted by this colossal fuckup, but I don't think the MS will count it as a failure. It is selling good enough for now, and they even have chance to win US territory in a few years with good management.
=Wait, did I get that correct from the video? MS offering a bundle without Kinect is a bad thing now? MS going back and focusing on games now is bad? Wtf Jim, I normally like your videos but this one seems like it came from a salty fanboy.
A lot of people seem to be missing the point of the video, so here's a summary for those who keep jumping to conclusions or are just saying stupid shit that have nothing to do with what Jim's actually trying to say.
What Jim is not saying
What Jim is saying
- The Xbox One in its current state isn't a good console or doesn't have games et cetera.
- The Xbox One isn't worth buying.
- People shouldn't be happy with the current state of the console.
- The Xbox One should die off.
- MS started out horribly, treated its consumers like shit and blamed them for their own shortcomings. Even now they constantly lie about hardware power.
- People shouldn't just immediately perform fellatio on them for deciding not to treat us like total shit anymore.
- The original vision of the One and the current state is significantly different. The original vision is thankfully dead.
- Devs/Publishers/Industry should try to treat the consumer with respect from the get go and not lie to them and try to deceive them.
- We shouldn't be thankful for them backpedaling and doing the bare minimum, they should be thankful that we still support them now after all they've done.
Don't treat people like shit. It's literally all the vid is about. How is that so hard to understand?
I have to admit, I don't really see the attraction of an apology; I have an inherent mistrust of them, much like the mistrust I have of pre-release claims. I prefer to see action, not platitudes... and we have actually seen action.
Because we're discussing Sony's poor E3 showing? The press conference is the "face" of E3 for Sony and Microsoft with regards to most gamers.
Who cares if it was in-engine? Nothing was really shown.
Explain what is untrue then.
Weird i thought we were in the thread Jimquisition (July 21) - The Xbox One: A Lying Failure Machine
Discussing the video in hand.
Its very relevant because you you seem to think that people bought the xbox one wanting the kinect.

The time for an apology is long passed now, I think. They needed to do it when they started dumping the 180 stuff. If they do it now it will only be to try and save face.
No of course them offering the Kinectless SKU isn't bad.Wait, did I get that correct from the video? MS offering a bundle without Kinect is a bad thing now? MS going back and focusing on games now is bad? Wtf Jim, I normally like your videos but this one seems like it came from a salty fanboy.
But what is your friggin point? What is anyone's point then?Everything you listed is only happening because they're getting their asses kicked. It's great that it's happening, but it's not out of an act of benevolence, it's out of an act of desperation and complete course correction.
I'm noticing a catch-22 in the reasoning here. Not regarding the Kinect inclusion (which is deservedly frustrating for both buyers and developers), but basically the rest of the topic: A company was going to have policies/features that people were critical of. They never implemented them, because of that reaction. Why should they apologize for something that never occurred, and doing what their audiences indicated they preferred? If someone decides not do something bad, that's not grounds for them to apologize for a "180."

You can still be culpable for things you plan to do, even if you never actually do them.
People are deluded enough to think that a monopoly will be a good thing for any of the major console manufacturers.
At least they had in engine footage for UC4 which is more than what one can say for a majority of XB1 exclusive announcements which were mostly CGI teasers.
I don't understand this viewpoint. "Gamers" hated everything about the X1 when it was first announced/released. Now that Microsoft has reversed pretty much all of those things people are still pissed? Is not getting a verbal "I'm sorry" seriously what people are still upset about?
I've not seen this statement often. Not that I agree or disagree with it, by the way.

That was the shittiest Jimquisition I've seen in a while. If you position yourself to hate a product from the get go, you'll end up hating the product no matter what they do. Jim could have kept his opinion for himself on that one.
But what is your friggin point? What is anyone's point then?
What exactly do you want? Words are enough. Actions aren't enough. The head of Xbox Devision's every statement of intent is not enough.
No one is sucking Microsoft's teet here. But apparently liking positive change is means people are "brand loyalists in denial". And God forbid anyone praise the things where they 1-up their closest competitor (OS Updates, App Ecosystem)

I think I summed it up nicely in my tag.
Honestly, you're asking us to celebrate the equivalent of someone finally learning to stop shoving knives in electrical sockets. We're all very glad they did it, but we're not going to throw them a party.
Where did I say that?
What I said was they bought the xbone with Kinect bundled in because they looked at it and decided it was worth however many dollars. Some people bought it expecting to use Kinect, others bought it knowing that they would never plug Kinect it at all. But everybody who bought it did so because they felt it was worth paying for. Would some of those people have preferred a Kinectless SKU? Of course, but they still felt the bundle with mandatory kinect was worth the asking price.
At no point did I say everybody that bought the original Xbone package did so because they wanted Kinect, hence your question about Kinectless bundles is completely irrelevant.
I'm noticing a catch-22 in the reasoning here. Not regarding the Kinect inclusion (which is deservedly frustrating for both buyers and developers), but basically the rest of the topic: A company was going to have policies/features that people were critical of. Video pretty much goes over everything wrong with the system and I agree with everything he said. I've said for months that my biggest problem with Microsoft is that they haven't actually apologized for anything they've done wrong with the system and instead of blamed their customers and everyone else saying the system was 'ahead of its time' or 'people aren't ready for this innovation yet' instead of actually admitting they screwed up and they were at all sorry for screwing over pretty much everyone outside of the EA's of the world with the original idea.
So basically the attitude that didn't exist after a month...I want them to be held accountable by gamers, and by-and-large they are being held accountable based on sales data. They told me they had a product for me if I wanted to game on my ship during deployment. That kind of attitude makes you dead to me, no matter how many 180's you do.
I'd rather you didn't incorrectly sum up my opinion like that, considering I already told you I bought a PS4 and don't like MS and don't own an X1.We are only discussing that because people seem to be incapable of having a discussion without bringing in these "fanboy" allegiances. WELL SONY DID THIS AND NINTENDO DID THAT SO...
Who cares?
People are deluded enough to think that a monopoly will be a good thing for any of the major console manufacturers.
Why does that make any difference at all? Literally, why is this a bad thing?Everything you listed is only happening because they're getting their asses kicked. It's great that it's happening, but it's not out of an act of benevolence, it's out of an act of desperation and complete course correction.
Nancy Tellem and a couple others are staying on until these projects are complete, plus it's more than likely Spielberg would use his own production team on it. ShowTime coming on board is most likely a way of getting a bigger audience to broadcast to.
Why do you assume if Microsoft exited that Sony would have a monopoly? They would still have competition from Nintendo, as well as competition from PC, Tablets, and micro consoles. Sony has showed in the past with the PS1 and PS2 that they handle being the market leader quite well.

The guy in the OP video, and the people on this board are pretty much why I stopped gaming around the time of the Xbox One announcement.
I looked at this guy in a fedora and black leather gloves ranting about videogames and I thought to myself "This whole gaming world is filled with childish tacky shit and I want nothing to do with it".
For every genius moment like The Last of Us or Bioshock, there are 1000 people arguing about how the Xbox One was a "betrayal", and hoards of people who reinforce the stereotype that video gamers are socially inept nerds arguing about how one company "screwed" them in some meaningless way.
This industry is in desperate need of a company to come in and say "fuck these people" and then build something brilliant without listening to "fans"
I'd rather you didn't incorrectly sum up my opinion like that, considering I already told you I bought a PS4 and don't like MS and don't own an X1.
The people who were talking about it? Geez.
And he would be one of the first folks to start screaming at MS for not doing anything about the sales, or for not doing something for the "gamers". What did he want MS to do, to get on their knees and beg for forgives? He's not saying those are bad things. He's saying that MS failed at their vision of it and their marketing speak trying to get praise for doing what they should have done from the start.
Use GAF source
No, that is not my opinion. I literally told you this already in this post here. Geez. What is your opinion? That Sony's lackluster E3 press conference was equal to MS' various fuckups and backtracking/180s?
Your post is super vague though. How does it apply here?
you are a fan, and you are a consumer. this post is basically 'please, companies, ignore me.' If you want to take your voice out of the chorus, you be my guest. The rest of us spend fucking money on these products and demand that we are treated with respect. This isn't a charity. This is US giving hundreds of dollars to buy one of their products. We have a right to get what we want.
