Not that much content heh.

That was expected.

If there were significantly more 'open-world' spaces outside of the maps and planets we've seen, we would had seen bits and glimpses of it through all the trailers. The reality is that when it comes to gameplay or world-cuts, we've only seen cuts of one type area of Earth, Mars, Venus & Moon spliced in-between all the trailers.

That and in the last mission of the beta with the array, on the three monitor screens it shows only the moon, venus and mars.

Unless that was placed deliberately to lead people astray and it's all one big secret. Halo 2 arbiter reveal incoming!

winner gets
nothing, muhahahhahha.

I'm assuming when he says "map" he is referring to PVP.

the care package refers to zones, so he is talking about PVE ..

A bit disappointing tho, since areas like "old chicago" and "the wall" where mentioned as locations before.

I think there was some hope that there'd be multiple zones per world, at least 2. I initially had hoped for that too, but eventually I realised that Bungie would've at least teased them if there were coming, but they didn't do so, so I went in without any expectation to see more than the what little teasers were there in the trailer.

And frankly, it's not as if that means it's light on content. Sure, if you went in expecting a mature MMO-level of content, or Ubisoft open-world filler, maybe Destiny doesn't look like the grandest of open-world games, but when I look at :

- the zones and the availability of things to do in each zones
- the strike missions
- the story missions
- the PvP and the PvP maps

I'd say that Destiny is easily a massive timesink of a game, even if it won't have GTAV level of 'too hueg tooo much stuff.' Besides, just looking at the beta slice, Destiny, imo, is probably a game with insane amounts of potential. If Bungie takes the feedback for the first game properly, Destiny 2, imo, will be as a big as a leap from UC1/AC1 to their respective sequels.

I personally, try to separate what was announced at the Destiny reveal event vs what is later shared in detail post-E3 2013. I'm not surprised if part of the stuff they initially unveiled was their mid-to-long term plans with Destiny, but not necessarily the first shipped content. The fact that they didn't cite those areas anymore in their further media unveilings kinda reaffirmed that for me that they kinda took a step too deep into their 'ambitions' and not reeling in their expectations.

Yah i want back in again, but i´m starting to realize this downtime might be good for me, gave me a proper chance to read up on the mechanics, i soo need to correct how i play my warlock, it´s embarrassing, just how clueless i really am. :)

By map I meant the pve open areas ala old russia.

That was expected.

For being like 6 years in development, 5 open areas is not much, unless there is much more to Old Russia that we haven't seen.

You're also forgetting raids. We know of one raid so far. I wouldn't be surprised if there was more than 1 raid. Urk's previously talked about it taking 45 minutes just to get into a raid via puzzle solving so I think there will be a ton of content within those as well.

Well, there are areas you can't get through because of high level enemies.

There's also passageways leading to nowwhere that could be extended, one that looks like it will be specifically is in the Devil's Lair. In the second section where tte two knights group under the bridge, if you go up the hill opposite them there's an area to the top left that spawns two sets of enemies: either Vandals or an Eye. Behind them is a passage through a building that leads toa set of doors that are locked, looking through them it looks like an explorable area.

There are a few parts like this dotted throughout Old Russia.

4 years, since the contract with Acti was established at 2010. Sure, they started thinking about it since ODST, but that doesn't mean there was actually real development going on.

Not to mention it's a new IP, as well as a product designed to have major releases every 2 years, with major DLCs still planned every other year.

I want Fists of Havoc jump upgrade so badly now. Superman incoming.

It's beautiful. ;_;

Thank god I have the next two days off. Gonna spend them trying to unlock that upgrade.
I'm halfway done with unlocking the thing. I only so far unlocked the Lightning grenade and am so very close for the jump level 3 upgrade.

Thats pretty awesome. can't wait to keep exploring my titan when the game comes out. Out of the 3 is the one that i had the most fun. Nothing like getting into the middle of the fight and taking out everyone.

So, basically you are saying how those booklets presents that for example, Old Russia will be the only "location" on the Earth?

Hm.

What about Chicago, Europe and whatnot?

My guess is DLCs, future games or PvP maps. We've only seen concept art of the locations and with no confirmation or in-game footage of them yet is safe to assume they're not going to be in the game at launch.

It would be nice if they would send out codes this evening so people could download the beta beforehand. That way there wouldn't be such a mess tomorrow morning.

Loved the beta and want to buy it Day 1, but I'm worried about how much PVE content the game will have. I think I'll wait a week to know if it will be worth the $60 or not. If they're holdin too much stuff behind DLC, I think I'll pass, as much as I liked what I played in the Beta.

I also think that part of the concept art they showed was actually teasers to PvP maps, and not necessarily game zones.

You know whats REALLY awesome about this GIF?
We know barely anything about the other classes 3rd tier sub-class skills.

I am excited to see ALL the classes supers, and a huge amount of exotic weapon/armor skills.

If there were 40 story missions, and they were all as simple as the ones in the beta, then that would be pretty effing dissapointing.

And there's just no way there's only 4 zones in the game. That would just be incredibly dissapointing. I would consider it a huge failing of the game if there are less than 10 zones tbh. And my expectation probably hovers closer to 14-15 zones.

This game is supposedly this incredibly big and ambitious game that Bungie wants to virtually reinvent fps games with, and is betting it all on for the next 10 years. But what you describe sounds like the amount of content I'd expect their 125 man halo reach team to make. Not the 500+ man team making Destiny.

Hey, just so you know:
– While Destiny has been in the making for many years, a lot of that time has been devoted to making a new engine, which Destiny runs on.
– Bungie houses QA within their own studio while most studios don't, hence why they're 500 strong.

Keep your expectations in check (which can be said for most situations).

as always the tru7h.

I really like the current Fist of Havoc animation, but having that level of control in that upgrade would be sweet. Would make it a lot easier to smash guys coming out of the dropship in Devil's Lair.

I brought this up with superBOSS, but I really hope we get at least a cutscene of down in the city, what life is like for the non-guardians.
SuperBOSS made an awesome suggestion about having something done inside of The Traveler, possibly an EndGame scenario.

Have some type of raid, or final boss battle within the traveler, come on bungie, make it happen!

Pretty much this.

Games don't make themselves, and given the scale of 1 game hub, unless Bungie pioneered a way to make huge game assets in record time, there was no way that there'd be 6 Old Russia scale hubs for one planet alone.

The booklet list is:

Earth: The Tower, Old Russia.
Moon: The Accelerator.
Mars: Zone of Exclusion.
Venus: The Citadel, The Academy.

It also lines up with the main bases for each faction, Earth=Fallen, Moon=Hive, Mars=Cabal, Venus=Vex.
