How very selective of you to conveniently ignore the rest of the points in that article I posted that prove Hamas uses human shields. Just gonna ignore those and pretend the first paragraph is the only one that mattered, huh?

Im not going to pretend that the hamas NEVER uses human shields. I'm saying its vastly overblown and its nowhere even remotely close to what the IDF says it is. Literally the IDF uses human shields as excuses for everything it does which is simple not true.

I mean if you have to use preventing journalists from leaving the country on a certain day somehow equals using them as human shields then I know the entire argument is pretty much smoke and mirrors with isolated examples.

And you disregard the rest of my post.

That I decided to poke fun at the general hysteria and hyperbolic tone of most of the comments in this thread speaks nothing to how nuanced my position is. It's like it's either all or nothing with you people.

I ignored it because you ignore it 99% of the time. Seriously, your post history shows basically no concern or sympathy for the Palestinians.

Hamas shoulders most blame? How exactly?
I think recent revalations have proved that Netanyahu is to blame for the most part of this mess. He lied about the accusations which set several other actions in motion, that resulted in this conflict exploding.

Neither side wanted this to be honest, it all started when Netanyahu decided to use the killing of the Israeli teens as an excuse to weaken hamas in the West Bank with all the arrests, Hamas which is already in bad shape, couldn't afford to not react, so it started firing rockets, then Netanyahu , who has low approval rates, didn't want to lose even more votes by allowing rocket fire at Israel.

The problem now is that Hamas doesn't want to look useless to their people by not gaining anything from this conflict, and the Israeli government doesn't want to look like it was beaten, by meeting hamas's demands.

Neither side is gaining anything from the continuation of this conflict, it's all internal politics.

Yeah, just like in the West Bank!
I mean, it's not like no one dies there, and they have 2.5 times the GDP of Gaza, right?

(Sure, the conditions there are still shit, but no rockets come from there, and no Israeli attacks that harm civilians).

What are you talking about?

Palestinian civilians have been getting killed in the West Bank since the operation in Gaza began. They just aren't being bombed but they are being shot to death. Just do a simple Google search before saying something ridiculous.

Why should the people of the West Bank believe Israel will stop there? They haven't stopped building illegal settlements yet.

Maybe in a few dozen years, we'll have to agree upon a new plan that just happens to include those new areas Israel keeps building illegal settlements in.

What? The whole point of a peace agreement is that Israel will leave the occupied territories , they can not build anything in areas that Israel does not control...

And yes , the longer it takes to reach a peace plan the more screwed over the Palestinians will be, the settlements will not stop, and more land will be stolen, again I'm not saying its fair, but being pragmatic will save many people lives.

Note that this plan was offered by the Israeli president before this one, Netanyahu obviously doesn't want a peace plan at all, the only way to make him change his mind is by having lots of internal pressure, and I think the only way that could happen is if there was massive outside pressure on the country

I ignored it because you ignore it 99% of the time. Seriously, your post history shows basically no concern or sympathy for the Palestinians.

That's on how you choose to take them.

I have repeatedly said that the Palestinians are suffering oppression under the Israelis.

Demonizing Israel and the IDF doesn't do much to show sympathy for the Palestinians, either. I wish more people would understand that.

Do you consider this "oppression and murder"?

In what fantasy world do you live?

This entire situation is the most severe case of victim blaming I've ever seen. I've even read people online today saying that if only Gazans didn't elect Hamas, they wouldn't be blown up!

“How else should we stop the rockets, huh? We’ve tried everything short of not denying Palestinians their human & civil rights!“

I would like for the land to be split evenly down the middle or whatever the fuck israel wants to stop fighting and keep their people on one side and the palestinians on the other side. its obvious that these two can't live in peace when they are all spread out and scattered all around. put the one group in the north and the other in the south.

70-30 60-40 whatever, just put a line in between them that is monitored all damn day and stop trying to co=exist or whatever you call this. it is heart breaking and sickening at the same time.

The number of Palestinian deaths in 2013 (in the westbank) was triple the number in 2012, anyone claiming it's peaceful there does not know what they are talking about. People get shot there for throwing rocks or when their houses get raided by the IDF
Or if a settler doesn't like your attitude. It's atrocious.

Edit: Thankfully we're in the age of social media. The media can spin it how they want, but anyone who cares to dig a little deeper can find the truth. #ICC4Israel has been trending worldwide for hours now.

Might be the worst analogy I have heard yet.

You do realize what carpet bombing is, right?

More people died in one night of the US actually carpet bombing Tokyo then have died in all Israeli missiles.

The firebombing in Japan was inhumane and atrocious, far worse than the atomic bomb. The fact that the invasion of Gaza resembles what occurred in Japan should be no consolation for Israel.

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said Friday that Israel's military would continue to strike Hamas hard, in order to deter it from firing rockets at Israel in the future.

"At the end of the operation, Hamas will have to think very hard if it is worth it to taunt us in the future," Yaalon was quoted as telling soldiers manning an Iron Dome anti-missile battery.

Yeah no, you sure showed those guys, good job!

Looks like someone pissed on bibis corn-flakes:

Netanyahu sourly irate over UN plan to investigate crimes

"It's a travesty of justice; it's a travesty of fairness; it's a travesty of common sense; it's a travesty of truth," Netanyahu said.
His remarks came after the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) launched a commission on Wednesday to investigate Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.

I'm fucking appalled at people who can defend every little thing Israel does. EVERY SINGLE THING is defended and justified in a weird twist of logic. How people have been brainwashed to surpass their human decency is beyond me.

I found the Gallup poll results interesting:

http://mondoweiss.net/2014/07/israels-actions-unjustified.html

Israel is losing support among the young, women, and minorities. In other Israel is supported by white males over 50. A group that has traditionally held a lot of power. Groups that have had less power or oppressed oppose the this.

All this despite the poll being bias by asking if Israel is justified against Hama's rather than saying if Israel is justified against the Palestinians.

Gallup tries to skew the results and the poll still looks bad for Israel.

Some horrifying pictures coming in on twitter from the bodies being found from the massacre of this neighborhood. Ugh so awful. I hope one day Palestinians are able to carry out their own Nuremberg trials.

CNN camera catches Israeli soldier who fired at killed Palestinian
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o29CJRZEf4

You were saying?

Edit: I think I fell victim to Poe's law.

Those fucking lying IDF scum. You honestly have to take whatever comes out of their spokespersons with grains of salt at best.

"On Thursday, an illegal and violent disturbance occurred in Beitunia. The said video is edited in a tendentious manner and does not reflect the level of violence that occurred at the disturbance."

interviews of security personnel who dealt with it found that “no live fire” was used.

I'm glad CNN was able to catch the footage of the actual shooter, and the crowd of Israeli soldiers surrounding him and just watching. This kind of shit no doubt happens more often, but unfortunately without the luck of being caught on camera by random CCTV or by the media.

Israeli police now saying was not behind kidnapping of the three teens:

http://mondoweiss.net/2014/07/killed-turning-onslaught.html

As the article said. The 3 teens are the new WMD's hidding in Irak

Those fucking lying IDF scum. You honestly have to take whatever comes out of their spokespersons with grains of salt at best.

I'm glad CNN was able to catch the footage of the actual shooter, and the crowd of Israeli soldiers surrounding him and just watching.

There's not enough salt in the world for that. And i hope that video makes the rounds all over the world.
