GOTG2 was announced because GOTG is a week away. All part of the hype machine.
I can sympathise with that, but I can also see why they'd choose to focus on the massive Avengers sequel they've got coming out next instead.

What's anyone care about announcements?
Well, DC/WB kind of need to hype their shit up early to wash the MoS stank out peoples memory.
They showed off their big film and Ant-Man. Though it would have been at least nice to get info on Strange/Panther, but eh, we'll hear about it soon enough once the Avengers train is over and they have much more to talk about.
That doesn't make it any less stupid lol
But oh well. Maybe we'll get some future announcements before next comic con

You know, I have thousands of Marvel comics by this point, and I don't think I have actually read something with Shuma Gorath in it. Is he popular here because of the Marvel fighters? They'd probably go with Baron Mordo and maybe Dormmamu in a Doc Strange movie.

They'd have been suckered if DC had dropped the Justice League announcement, but as it is, I'd say the two are about equal.

What news? They showed a little bit of footage and showed the costume of a character we all already knew was going to be in the film. Nothing that was shown was news.
But we got way more pertinent info about Ant-Man. Like who Evangeline Lily is playing. Plus we got some plot details, AND a trailer (even though they haven't even officially started filming yet!). Then we got a substantial trailer from Avengers 2, and damn near confirmation that Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet storyline is coming later in Phase 3. Lastly we got GOTG2 confirmation and date.
This is the most likely reason for no info on Dr. Strange.

But like others have said, they didn't announce Phase 2 until after Avengers 1. They announced GOTG2 because they are obviously bullish on the first GOTG. They believe they have a hit on their hands, and are setting up plans for a follow up based on that confidence. They have already acknowledged that Dr. Strange is coming elsewhere, but until things start lining up with casting and such, it makes sense to hold off on announcing anything. They could, but they also don't need to. The dates are already scheduled. Other movies most likely won't move into those slots (that is the main reason they announce them so early anyway).

Did they actually show something meaningful for BvS? I thought it was like four seconds of Batman looking up and Superman being in the air. Even with as disappointing as this panel was, it was still leagues better than that.
Edit: just watched the leaked footage, that was some weak shit.
