Under Night In-birth Exe:Late |OT| Under Night In-America

I'm pretty impatient, so instead of messing around in training for a while, I'll probably hop right online without knowing anything! Should be fun! XD

I learned from skullgirls that going straight online is not fun times. Not fun times at all...

Though I'll probably do the same when I get this, I've never been much of a lab guy

That character breakdown is not entirely accurate.

They seem to be updating it a bit but there are still some inaccuracies or are written in a very extremely misleading manner.

For example "Lacks any ranged attacks and has a very difficult time getting in close to opponents." Akatsuki has ranged attacks, its just his normals are far too honest for this game.

Yeah, that's me too. I'd rather learn/practice stuff on the fly while playing, particularly in online games where there's lag anyway. Not that I never hit up training at all, though.

Probably not the best idea in this game.

Check this first for a quick break down of each char:

Thanks, will check that out.

I'm old-school in my approach. I like to just get right into it, see what/who I like, then spend time practicing. Can't get a feel for stuff until I play other people.

That's how I decided on playing Hilda and Waldstein. Hilda's combos are fun as hell.

And now, I wait until Wed from game to get from IL to NC :-/ Oy.

Heh, just like the old arcade days; When a game first came out, the machine was packed, and WTH was a "Training Mode" anyway? Get that movelist out of a magazine, place that quarter on the machine, and hope the buttons were set up right when you got to play!

A mix of Local and Player matches are generally my first "training" room, too. For a game as free-form as this, I do think it'd be good to just get fighting and try out stuff, before optimizing later solo.

Oh god everyone's already so good. I just feel bad for using GRIM REAPAH against newer players because I just do an infinite loop of command grab and baiting srks. I am loving this game, getting stomped out is fun.

Good matches Q. The connection was spotty but fine at first but then it started to get worse match by match until the disconnect.

Not sure what's going on since it's been fine in other games we've played.

You're thinking of 5B mainly and maybe 5C, aren't you? ... Now that I think about it, his sweep does reach pretty far since it can hit after a 6C without dashing.

Thanks, will check that out.

Yeah, I do the same, but it helps to know what they look like in action at least.

Shunao is making some charms:

Well it's more of a input lag and they being able to block it haha :P

Ooooh, that's weird, I had the exact same problems last night while playing online. I can land that stuff offline like it's nothing. I stopped using the 22C since the timing is so tight. I think the hop, orb, dive combo is easier for some reason. Even if I drop it, I at least have an orb out, y'know?

Yeah but from what I can tell that doesnt work on everyone x.x

I just realized that, since you can dash with a 6/4+A+B, you can dash while holding charge o__o. I guess it's probably obvious for Marvel players, but it was pretty surprising for me lol. Never had to worry about charge in Melty.

Sorry vanilla power in my house died earlier.... gonna get some games in with proto

It's ok. I got to see the awesomeness of the Gordeau combo-able command grab.

ggs Vanilla. Seemed to get a hang of the match as time went on....I think Im gonna switch to Gordeau.

Good matches.

But seeing that command grab that you can combo into in a block string (over and over again until dead) and the wake up amounting to "press a button get jabbed/don't press a button get thrown every time" has me second guessing whether I want to play this game again.

It's infuriating and completely saps my desire to play.

Yeah, Gordeau's command grab seems really good! Great range and saps your GRD. I can't deal with it lol. That's why Chain Shift is so important in this game IMO; it can let you get away from bad wakeup situations like that. At least, from when I got to play the game in casuals.

Testing punishing Grim Reaper with a few different characters lol. Is there data on this already? Vatista seems to have nothing unless a Gordeau does it in 5A range for some reason and Hyde doesn't seem to get much. Orie seems to punish it for free if you can shield it though. :D

Tried this online briefly. Didn't get much of a chance to play tonight. Am impressed with the netcode; had great matches at 3 bars and mostly-smooth matches at 2 bars. I assume that the people I played with also imported the game.

Most of the characters I tried seemed pretty cool. The only one I was just not feeling was Hilda, but with my play style, she may end up being the character for me. I got pretty much wrecked online, as expected, but did end the night winning with Hyde against Yuzuriha. The guy was just spamming her sword attack, so I spammed right back with projectiles and zoned him to death. He disbanded the room immediately after. Definitely the way I like to end a play session, lol.

Still no idea who I want to use yet. Design-wise I think I like Yuzuhira, Akatsuki, Hyde, and Freema-- I mean Carmine the most.

Anyone want a couple quick matches?

I don't get it, how does the charge up cancel move thingy work?

Chain Shift? You just need to be in GRD Vorpal. That's the only requirement.

Edit: And to get GRD Vorpal you need to have more GRD than your opponent when the timer at the bottom is over.
