Games you remember, names you don't

Try Ninja Combat, The Ninja Warriors, Ken-Go, Blue's Journey, Mega Twins, Rad Action. Do you remember maybe if it was more of a platformer or a sidescrolling brawler, what was the point of view (top down, side view, single screen etc.). Also, if it's none of the games I've mentioned, does it maybe resemble some of them, gameplay-wise or at least in graphics quality?

It's none of them =/
But visually I'd say I'd compare it to the SNES version of The Ninja Warriors.
It was a 2D-sidescroller, but you could move up and down kind of like in Final Fight, so yeah, essentially a ninja brawler.

Nope, sorry.. =/

I'll never find this game

Longshot, but it's a game that came in a Windows 95 game collection. It was an adventure RPG-ish game. Top down view, sprite-based. I remember you do a lot of quests for a king, at one point you have to get in a submarine and navigate this really tough (to 7 year old me anyway) water maze with spots that would teleport you to other spots in the maze. I don't actually remember if there was any leveling up of any kind.

I played it at a friend's house a lot, the collection also had Mario Brothers if that helps at all.

I remember a game where you would dig for gems and you could go up ladders and search for moneybags (or maybe chests). It was a 2D game, possibly in the exploration genre. There was no surface, so the game took place underground, if that helps. It was a game for Windows in the 90's, possibly before 1996.

Unfortunately I don't remember too much other than that. Even worse, it's a possibility I may thought of a game that might not have existed given my spotty memory of the game.

It's like this thread was made for me...

This was a late 80's or early 90's arcade game -
I haven't been able to find it anywhere, all I remember is it starting at the edge of a waterfall or a river of some sort which was situated near a cave. It was a 2d ninja game and you could choose between a blue or a red ninja IIRC (and yes, a 2-player option was available).

That's it... I got nothing else, and I desperately want to find it. And no, I have no one else to ask when it comes to details, this is unfortunately all I got.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Ok, this is an hard one. I looked around a lot, and it seems like it never existed.

Commodore 64 game. Platformer. Classical music in background. The level was a single one that kept going indefinitely. Black background, blue platforms. The main character had red hair and when he died the hair kept rotating in place while he fell down out of the screen (like he had a flying toupee).
Screen scrolled by itself and you had to keep up [not 100% sure].

Ninja Warriors?

Edit: Nope, it didn't start at a waterfall.

The only arcade ninja beat'em up with z axys that I can remember is Shadow Warriors.

Futuristic PS1 racing game that was a mix between F-Zero and WipEout. I got a demo of it with a PS mag and sunk countless hours into it.
EDIT: Never mind. Just did some hard searching. Pretty sure it was Hi Octane.

Well ok, the depth movement helps a lot. It's a long shot but maybe it's Zero Team? I'll search a bit more later.

Ok, this was a PC FPS from the 90's

You woke up in a coffin and the player character would mumble things to himself, sometimes sing "There's no business like show business" At one point you're fighting your way through a derelict carnival. In another part you climb a cylindrical tower and fight a stone gargoyle. That's all I can remember.

Blood?

uh ok then...well it ha a PS2 game. I think i remember a cute little bunny character where you grabbed an enemy and either throw it or use it as a double jump.

It was an early 2000's pc game. The people in the game looked like generic lego figures, but the world was not made out of legos. It had a medieval setting, the main character was a knight. And I think you got to ride around on a dragon. Pretty generic.

I've been trying to remember this game for years.

Thanks for your commitment, I really appreciate the effort you guys put in - Although it feels like a lost cause, I'll still cling onto the hope of not only finding it, but playing it once more!

After a bit off searching, it could be Shadow Force. I always remembered the game starting in an urban environment but I forgot that you can actually choose the starting level. One of the levels starts near a lake and shortly after you fall down a cliff near a waterfall.

fuck, wanted to say shadow force but couldn't find the stage you posted.

There was this game I played in late 80's or early 90's, probably on Amiga, where you got to explore a haunted mansion (I's not Maniac Mansion). I can't remember many details but I spent hours playing it.

There were ladders around which you would climb to get to the next floor. The playable characters may have been stylised as short and fat.

I have looked and looked but it's as if the game never existed.

Fright night ? but the characters were not stylised
Horror Zombies from the crypt ?

can you remember anything else, like was it a platform, was there a lot to explore, how did you fight enemies (if you did) etc ?

It was a platform game where you could explore the house. I don't think you could fight ghosts but had to avoid them. The graphics were cartoony and I remember a lot of green and purple and I'm sure it had 'haunted' in the title but could be wrong. It's so frustrating, I can't remember too much about it :(

Goddamn it, I LOVE YOU!! I think this is it.. Haha, really didn't except it to be found considering my vague information! THANK YOU!!

Edit: Unnecessary info, but the blue ninja (Kai) was my favorite character (he still looks badass!)

Thanks anyway! =)

I'm trying to find a PC game that I played around 1998-1999. I only played a demo, and I don't really remember much about it.

It was a JRPG, the combat system was turn-based, almost the same as Final Fantasy. I think the name was Karma, or something similar, but I can't find any game with this name that I recognize.

Soccer games with animals cant be that many!

Does anyone remember an MS-DOS game around the mid-90s where you chose animal teams and played european soccer? Cats would play against dogs etc.

Cant find that game at all

I dont think it was Super Action Ball

Around that time you could possibly be thinking of Septerra Core or Silver. Septerra Core is turn-based and aimed to be like Final Fantasy VII from what I recall. Silver has a somewhat similar aesthetic to RPGs around that time but I skimmed a video and didn't see turn-based combat.

You sure it was on amiga ? late C64 game maybe ?

Check out Neophyte: Koplio's Story, although it doesn't have turn-based combat.

I wonder if it could be (Beyond) Dark Castle or The Addams Family. Also Check out Fantasy World Dizzy, Night Hunter, Black Lamp, Jet Set Willy II, Wacus the Detective.

Was the game single screen, multi-screen or scrolling in some direction?

Thanks all for the suggestions but I don't recognise any :( I'm staring to wonder if this game was a dream!!

It was single screen which scrolled to a 'view' whichever direction you moved (when you hit the side of the screen a new room would load on the screen).

Time Runner?

chances the game you're thinking of was on C64 ? Atari ST ? PC ?
it appears there's nothing on Amiga that matches your description, which actually makes me think of something like trapdoor

This post gave me memories, and suddenly it hit me...

I think you're talking of Ghost Chaser. (Link to screens of C64 version, but according to GameFAQs it had an Amiga port).

I've got one, I have done some googling but to no avail.

It's an arcade game likely circa 1985-89, notable to me because I played the hell out of it one holiday in Spain as a young kid and actually completed it (the first arcade game I that I ever managed to do so).

You play as girl in a 2D platformer with limited horizontal and mainly vertical scrolling, because the premise of the game was to escape a burning building, (or a series of them) primarily by riding escalators before the flames can get to you.

I seem to remember the first level was in a mall type setting but not much beyond that, though I do remember the ending involved the girl getting to church and getting married.

I thought it had great graphics at the time so they're likely more similar to 16 bit consoles than 8 bit, with much better graphics than Elevator Action has, which is the most similar game I've been able to find by googling.

It'd be great if someone knows what it's called.

Super long shot....but Montezuma's Revenge? I seem to recall a lot of green sprites...

Cant even remember what platform its for but I remember it well due to giving me nightmares. The game had a few mini games iirc. Was a horror game the only bit I remember is the bit tht gave me nightmares. There was a candy floss machine in it was very bloody you had to do soething in it that I can not remember :P. Im sure the games cover may of had the candy floss mchine on it.

Edit: Well found it instantly after a quick google lol, it was Weird Dreams for anyone interested im sure i had it for the ST...ahhh memories.

Momoko 120% maybe?

Actually, it's got to be! The wiki page mentions her getting married at the end.

Does anyone remember an arcade game from the early 90s that had a Game Over/Continue Screen in red and black where a silhouette of giant blade was slowly swinging down to the player's neck as the Insert credit timer counted down. If you didn't insert more credits the screen would go red and you'd hear the player character die.

It freaked me out as a kid and I've been trying to track it down forever but I've had no luck.

Ninja Gaiden?

Woah truly impressive sleuthing, yes it defintely is that!

At first I thought it wasn't the one I was thinking of, due to the character being much smaller, but I'd forgotten the girl actualy grows up throughout the game, I found a vid with the end stages, and sure enough it's just as I remember it.

Also, somehow it got to Spain despite it being released in Japan only, no wonder I never saw it anywhere else.

I still think the graphics look great too, especially on the later stages, it was an excellent game for the time, and still looks fun today.
