Sorry, sorry. Would it make you feel better if I told you that
Quaritch returns from the dead
in the Avatar sequels since
Stephen Lang has been cast in all three sequels?

I don't even remember or care who that guy is, but yep you have every right to talk about it if they officially released that information.

What do you people mean "follow every detail"? Do you not go on yahoo, msn, AOL, uproxx, io9, any damn website that reports news? I didn't google jobs brolin wondering what he's been up to, it was on the news. Things that are on the news can't be spoilers, sweet Jesus.

I thought the same until I saw Captain Phillips discussion backlash.

Yes because your average movie goer reads press releases.

Don't play dumb. Do it in this thread, with SPOILER listed in the title. It's not hard. It's really immature to argue that this is okay. "Well I don't consider it a spoiler, so you deal with it!"

Whether the average movie goer is reading a press release (or any of the many news outlets that reported on it) is irrelevant. As others have mentioned, not knowing something is not being spoiled. Spoilers are things that film makers intended audiences to discover while watching the film -- which is def not the case here since Marvel is out there saying "Hey everyone this guy is in this movie!"

Expecting everyone to tip toe around what press releases you have/haven't seen is ridiculous. If something is being publically promoted then it should be fair game.

Okay... but is it a spoiler that he has a cameo in GotG?

I mean...

Okay fine, spoilers for COSMIC MARVEL and the GotG comics specifically.

Gamora is his adopted Daughter, so a movie that's introducing Gamora will probably have Thanos anyway?

Unless you don't follow the comics then I guess you'd have no idea.

But then if you don't follow the comics then his inclusion isn't a massive reveal anyway.

OMG where am I?

I'm becoming acquainted with Cosmic Marvel for the first time due to the 99c Marvel Unlimited. I'm halfway through Annihilation. So as I read, it becomes more obvious that Thanos factors in quite a bit, but I'm still a newbie to this stuff, so this was kind of a spoiler. There are a ton of characters in Annihilation, so I wouldn't consider any of them a 100% lock for appearing in GotG.

I think a lot of people are just now becoming interested in Cosmic due to the GotG movie.

Edit: I'm not that put out by it really, but I'll admit my initial reaction was to be ticked off.

If you don't follow the comic then definitely don't read that spoiler which is actually a massive spoiler. (That has already been spoiled by various Marvel releases anyway...)

But you know nothing about his character right? You just know he's got a Jay Leno chin and was the architect behind The Avengers alien invasion. So seeing a still of him in GotG when it's been confirmed by Marvel for months doesn't seem like it's actually spoiling anything as he's just a character in the movie.

Nothing about knowing that Thanos is is the movie actually spoils anything that happens IN THE MOVIE. It could be a flashback, or a video, or a picture of Thanos sitting in a chair in some bar. Who knows!

All I know now is that Thanos dresses like shit and still looks badass.

I see your point. I read up just how powerful he is on one of those marvel wiki sites.

But it spoils that you will see him in full in GoTg :)

Do you guys like who think thanos a spoiler also feel spoiled by the Vision reveal for Age of Ultron?

Oh boy here we go

For all the people saying why are you guys being uncivil, etc;

This thread was never civil. When people shit on the OP for a great height for something they considered spoilery, this thread broke down all pretenses of civility. So drop that lie.
And for everyone saying 'I don't read press releases!', 'I was on media blackout!', etc; they officially released the information, it's fair game, end of. Same with trailer discussion.

I also like that people are posting ACTUAL spoilers now for completely unrelated movies, even if they're tagged. Good lord

Everyone's like 'Who's Vision?'.

I can't get over the silly looking suit Thanos is wearing... but I guess his comics suit would look terrible on film.

I would have loved to have been in the room when they explained to him what the Infinity Gauntlet was and what his character's endgame would be.

"You're basically going to be the fucking GOAT in this entire universe."

What did you expect he would be wearing? Looks like a slightly jazzed up version of his comic book outfit.

Stupid Marvel should use spoiler tags for the title of the next Avengers movie. I didn't want to know that Ultron was in it!

So inconsiderate. :(

:P

Kind of, but seeing the interview with Paul Bettany kind of threw that out the window. I'm not really one of these people who thinks spoilers ruin one's enjoyment of a movie. Even if there's a true "twist," the film should hold up. But surprise is nice, too. I just have to change my expectations.

Glad I didn't venture over here before I saw the screening last night (BTW, it's a really REALLY good film). Was pleasantly surprised to see him in the flesh. Didn't realize he was in it, but for whatever reason, he didn't look as intimidating or menacing as I'd hope he'd look.

I hate spoilers

this isn't a spoiler.

Is that a real head on a real body, or cg body? Can't get a sense for how big movie-thanos is supposed to be in that image.

He's in Guardians of the Galaxy, in theatres August 1st, 2014.

I know that. :P

I want more than a cameo. I want to see the Avengers go up against him.

Also, if the Guardians are not in Avengers 3, it'll be a missed opportunity to have a Drax/Thanos brawl. Maybe recreate that oh so awesome scene from Annihilation.

He's mocapped. Same thing they did with Ruffalo and Hulk. Physical stand-in on set, then they impose Brolin's face onto the animated thing.

I can't really make too much of a judgement considering the quality of the photo but Avengers Thanos looks a bit better I think?

His skin is too light a shade in Guardians. I prefer the darker purple skin in Avengers - looked less cartoony. But the rest of it is great.

That wasn't really a brawl,

More Thanos telling Drax to be control his bloodlust for like five more seconds and then Drax saying fuck no stabbing him

I think its something about the eyes as well

They look too beady in the GOTG shot?

But again, its not a great picture

my three year old son is a huge fan of the comics and had no idea he (thanos) was gonna be in it, he is now crying and doesn't want to watch the movie because it has been ruined. gg neogaf.
