Giant Bomb #8 | It's a Hit!

OGB and GBEAST should play Velvet Sundown together for UPF this week.

Though I assume that would be a bit of a nightmare to setup.

I think they should revisit the game, but not until the second scenario is completed. The win conditions in that one aren't working.

I approve of further use of POI gifs.

Especially when used in the proper context, as this was.

Don't forget that on top of that, Giant Bomb earns around 1 million dollars a year from subscriptions.

Sorry to bring this back up, but I was scrolling through the thread to see what i'd missed and saw this a couple pages back. Is this true? I had no idea they made this much from subs.

i don't even know what the people in the Last of Us Remastered QL comments are arguing about anymore

That would be what, 20,000 yearly members? Seems unlikely.

Before they were bought I think they had gotten up to ~15k? Another 5k since doesnt seem that crazy.

at $5 a month that's about 17k monthly subscribers. I think Jeff has said on Jartimes that they've gotten more subscribers over time, so 1 million seems plausible.

I know that.

I'm talking about doing it during a live show.

They only have one PC on the live set, and I don't think they're equipped to do a live show from their desks.

I'm all for a revisit of that game at a later date, but their live show format isn't the place for it.

I watched the entirety of that Mario Party video last night. It was amazing!

I just have one issue and it has nothing at all to do with the content or anybody at GB: Why in the world have the last few videos I've watched there had graphical oddities going on?

I noticed it at random times throughout the Mario Party video and now while watching the Pure Pool QL. It'll sometimes look like what you would expect from a brief moment of corrupt video or suddenly getting a super low bitrate before it jumps back to normal. Either that or sometimes the screen will go (mostly) grey for a brief moment and then back.

I saw it on PC while using Progressive and HD, I saw it on my PS4 last night with the HTML5 and HD.

It's only recently started say in the past couple of weeks. If it was there before it certainly wasn't to this degree.

Does that still happen to the Mario video? I see that they've fixed the audio sync problem (it seems like videos sometimes go up with audio sync issues when a robot uploads them, but they fix that with a new upload the next day usually), but not the "smearing", for lack of a better word?

Either way, I blame Jason.

Yeah but Jason made up for it by pointing the camera at the empty seats whenever someone left. I don't know why I thought that was so funny but it was cracking me up.

I think the best thing about the Mario Party party video is how Jeff is trying to be miserable and hate everything and then he has these little uncontrollable outbursts of laughing. Pretty sure he had a good time even if he wouldn't admit it. Everything else was awesome as well. S rank content that one.

Dan's glee regarding just about everything that happened is so infectious and the
Dangerous Alliance betrayal by Brad
was icing.

Also would likely be headaches, because the audience would be trying to flood into that game, making it unlikely they could get all the GB people in, and you'd also have a bunch of stupid GB users just acting like idiots.

The more I listen to Dan in the Bombcast, the more I'm thinking that he should take a 2 month break, and travel the world. Not that I don't like him, but... he needs to see.... things.

Jeff's so tsundere :3

Yup, I also got that with Mario Party and Pure Pool.

Unless they fixed it after I finished watching the Mario Party archive last night around midnight-1AM (PT), then it's still there. I started that video on my PC, saw some issues at the start, finished it on my PS4 and saw issues throughout the rest. So, two different pieces of hardware, two different streaming systems (Progressive, HTML5), same issues.

It's not a huge thing but it's insanely distracting because you don't know when it'll happen but then it does. And then you go, "oh, was that something in the video or on my computer?" and you rewind to see that it happens again at the exact same time you saw it the first time and you reassure your mind that shit isn't breaking (having gone through a few videocards that went bad, stuff like this always freaks me out).

He already lives in the best country in the world. Why bother wasting 2 months?

I don't doubt Jeff played his grumpy persona and actually had some fun in the stream. But I also don't doubt he truly hates the game.

I was thinking something to the magnitude of the chaos they had with the Dota TNT.

Where they had a bunch of people in the premises with two separate simultaneous streams.

I mean, I know it can't be as grand, but ya know, a duder can dream.

Yeah watching in XBMC I got the scenes of corruption you noticed as well.

Velvet Sundown live would be a disaster, and not in a good way. The game is unstable as shit right now, and GB users would try to join the game and ruin the whole thing. That game is best recorded.
