The main problem is putting the content in the title in this thread. If someone is on blackout for whatever reason, they are not spoiled [from their perspective]. They wouldn't go in the regular or spoiler GOTG threads. It wouldn't be a huge effort to either put this info in the normal GOTG thread, or if it must have a new thread, then title it accordingly (as people have given examples here).

If they included something like [SPOILERS] in the thread title like some people are suggesting then people would end up talking about information about the movie that has not be publicly distributed by official sources. You know, actual movie spoilers.

Additionally, I can probably take this train of thought to its logical conclusion and complain about how people are openly talking about Iron Man being in Avengers 2.

Well, the only problem then would be, is how do you avoid seeing the same movie more than once? If you want to see all 20 movies?

You have to tell your friends which theaters have which movies.

"Oh the theater out on the highway is showing The Squirrel Girl movie where she kills the one true Thanos (spoiler alert)!"

Or if you have no friends then you're just fucked and have to guess.

I actually remember them doing this with Clue back in the day. They filmed multiple endings to the movie and sent them out randomly to the different theaters across the nation. It was only when the DVD was released that I got to see all of the multiple endings.

Not enough meh in the world, looks like a bit of a waste of time to be fair.

Post-credit scenes can't be that good with the studio knowing that only diehard nerds with too much time on their hands will get to see it.
Do you actually go see superhero movies nowadays without most of the crowd staying? The fun part is the people who stay who have no idea what is going on like half the theatre at the end of Days of Future Past.
I'm not really into superhero movies to be honest. Or superheroes in general.

This movie looks like good fun though.

Yo I fucking love Clue. That shit was crazy.

Anybody who didn't get the 3rd Ending/True Ending got HOSED

I don't consider this a spoiler at all, then again, I read comics and I expected this since there have been countless Thanos arcs within 616 so naturally the big push for this character was imminent.

I would be totally down for that, it's like a scavenger hunt!

That's pretty cool. For some reason it reminds me of one of those movies from the 90's where people had remotes and they had to push a button to decide what the character does.

To be honest the Thanos reveal in Avengers was kind of annoying as it means that yeah he is the big bad of phase 3, so really phase 2 seems kind of pointless now

Really? I guess it must be where I live but most people stay to watch the post credits scenes. It's not like you have to sit an hour through the credits, and usually you've taken the 2 hours out of your schedule so what's another 5-10 minutes?

I'm generally on the side of being cautious with spoilers bit there really isn't an issue here. I could understand if Marvel had been trying keep this quiet, which would have been neat, but they officially announced this ages ago. There can't be an expectation on people to spoiler tag something like that.

I dunno, 99% of the time there is usually nothing afterwards, I wouldn't sit there every time just on the off chance that there might me a blooper or some shit at the end. Plus, it's one thing watching an extra 10 minutes of deleted footage, not quite the same watching 10 minutes of names scroll as everyone else is leaving.

I usually want to get some blood back in my legs after sitting motionless in a fairly cramped movie theatre for 2+ hours anyway!

I think the funniest thing about this thread is that cause all the image is of Thanos just sitting there there wasn't all that much to say

So if people hadn't been outraged it would of been a couple of pages of huh, cool and then likely the thread would have dropped off the first page into GAFscurity

Oh well.

The problem is this isn't a spoiler unless you've been hiding under a rock for weeks but people here are acting like this is equal to revealing bruce willis was dead in 6th sense when it was released.

I mean every trailer has revealed one of the main characters is Thanos' daughter, and the last avenger movie teased him in the final scene. If you couldn't puzzle together he'd show up that's on you.
I agree. What I'm suggesting now is that attitudes toward spoilers have diverged in different GAF communities, so there is no longer a clear expectation of safety concerning spoilers in the community at large. I don't know. The complaints here make no sense to me so I'm shooting blind.

Next you'll tell me is that Thanos will kill one or multiple Avengers!!

Guys guys guys

Vision is in Avengers 2

DONT BAN ME PLZ

To be honest the Thanos reveal in Avengers was kind of annoying as it means that yeah he is the big bad of phase 3, so really phase 2 seems kind of pointless now

I mean not really, after Avengers 3 the team will probably clash with the likes of The Masters of Evil or Kang or someone. That doesn't make Thanos pointless.

for Spoilers, its better to air on the side of caution.

I mean how difficult would it have been to NOT have the spoiler right in the goddamn title?

"FIRST LOOK AT SURPRISE CHARACTER IN GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY"

Real simple, real easy, takes no effort. People that wanted to go into the movie blind can avoid the topic, people who want to know can click on it.

And no, this hasnt ruined the movie for me, Im still going to go see it, but I would have liked to have the surprise while watching the film and not accidentally read it on GAF. I really dont see how anybody could defend this as not being at least a little bit dickish.

"FIRST LOOK AT SURPRISE CHARACTER IN GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY"

You have no idea how loaded of an OP this could potentially be.

What if there are tons of surprise characters in the movie? Then you're talking about any number of them. People come in expecting X, but get the entire alphabet. And for like the 80th time, it's not a surprise. Do appreciate being called a dick though, that's cool

This isn't about any single instance of thread title spoilers, but the fact that there is a growing contingent of users on GAF who will view just about anything as a spoiler. It takes no effort to change the thread title for a single thread, sure, but it becomes ludicrous when you're expected to tiptoe everywhere, forever, in the constant fear that you might be spoiling someone on something, however inane it might be.

A public forum is not a place where you should be afraid to talk about things openly.

Look at this fucking shit.
:lol

You spoiled the ening for me but that is okay.

dunno, I never watched the movie

I apparently know the ending to it now though

This thread is a fucking travesty. I don't give a shit because I've seen the movie but OP you're a gigantic ass for posting a thread title like that and opening with the name of the movie you just spoiled. Come on man.

No excuse not to have included "Seven" and/or "spoilers" in the thread title OP. Poor form.

How hard is it to put (SE7EN SPOILERS) in the title, seriously? I've seen the movie. It's great and people deserve to view it unspoiled. Who the fuck cares if it's 20 years old, show some consideration.

I wouldn't. Op should spoiler tag tho

Hes not shown in the trailers = surprise to 95% of the movie going audience.

I dont see the argument here, you enter the topic at your own risk then, seems like that should be pretty obvious.

Hes not shown in the trailers = surprise to 95% of the movie going audience.

He was officially announced and cast, and has been for months. For like the 5th time, he was only not in the trailers because they wanted to save him for the movie legit.

And again, you have no earthly idea how vague that OP you recommended is. That ends in fucking disaster if you make a thread with that title, especially today.

But he's *not* a surprise character. He's been mentioned by Feige and Gunn numerous times. He's already appeared in Avengers. Gamora is in the movie. They announced Josh Brolin playing him in the movie. Multiple reviews have mentioned him being in the movie.

Basically it's a spoiler if you've been living under a rock and are actively trying to avoid any information or critical thinking about where this franchise is going. And it's not another poster's responsibility to assume that you are not aware of something that is common knowledge.

I guess it'd be a spoiler for you if you know NOTHING about the MCU...so why would you care that a character you're not even familiar with appears in the film?

This is really throwing me for a loop because no one cared when the thread showed up on Gaf titled JOSH BROLIN TO PLAY THANOS IN GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and now it's a huge deal apparently.

It's not a surprise character though. IIRC someone posted a link with Gunn mentioning his inclusion as far back as last year and again at SDCC.

I wasn't particularly impressed with him when I saw the movie, either with the CG or Brolin's performance. Though to be fair, the script doesn't give him very interesting dialogue. Maybe my opinion will change if I see it again.

Everyone knew except you I guess. Not like he said" Holy shit Galatcus is in Gotg!!!" Sorry it was spoiled for you though.

You credit-skippers gotta relax. Look in those credits, find some funny names, chat with your friends. There's no rush. Let everyone else clear on outta there, listen to the music, appreciate whatever production effort went into the film. Maybe catch a bonus scene as a reward.

I literally don't think I've ever left during the credits. I make people wait for me, I'm that guy.

Maybe I left during G.I. Joe 2, the worst movie I've ever seen.

Hey, this makes me wonder... could Marvel decide to make original Human Torch a huge character just to stick it to Fox? CAN they use him?

I think that is the reason for the montage in Captain America, leave them some breathing room to revisit for the Invaders and what not.

There's another Human Torch?

yes the first Human Torch was an android. He actually killed Hitler in Marvel canon.

We need an Invaders movie to school some people on Human Torch (and Namor).

I wonder how they could possibly fit that into MCU canon. The movies make it seem like Cap wasn't involved in WWII for very long.

How dope would it be to see Steve and Namor and Torch beating the shit out of Nazis?

I don't think they planned that far ahead. They weren't sure how Avengers was going to do while they making it so the Thanos reveal was just supposed to be a hint at where they were headed. Once it blew up huge, then yeah you push thanos back to be the end game and get there a bit slower.

I wonder how they could possibly fit that into MCU canon. The movies make it seem like Cap was only active in WWII for like a month or two at best.
I've been reading comics for a while and still don't get Namor. He is a beefier aqua man that everyone hates.

I would love it if they introduced Namor in the present day and Steve remembers him and they both make jokes about how they don't look a day over 30.

I posted this in this thread already, but just a question. Is Thanos the Darth Vader from the Marvel universe. Is he really the biggest bad guy out there, he doesn't sound that evil like a psychotic villain would be.

He's one of them, but weirdly enough he's been on the good guy side of things as well.

Only if Darth Vader could warp all of time, space, and reality.

There are definitely more dangerous villains out there (if we're talking about the entire universe/multiverse).

Thanos basically wants to control everything and please Death. He's like a mastermind with a bit of a weird thing for her. Someone like Annihilus, who he has worked against in the past for the greater good, simply wants all other life exterminated.

Essentially, Thanos has saved the universe multiple times so he's not like, the WORST. But he's still a pretty bad dude and has killed millions if not billions.

I've been reading comics for a while and still don't get Namor. He is a beefier aqua man that everyone hates.

That's pretty much it. In the real world, he was the first Marvel character, created all the way back in 1938 (Cap is pretty much the only other major Marvel character from the 30's/40's; everybody else is from the early 60's). He's kinda like Marvel's Aquaman, but he can fly, he's almost as strong as the Hulk, and he has a whole kingdom at his command. His role in the Marvel universe is basically that everyone leaves him alone because every now and then, he shows up on land to wreak havoc with his armies.

Also, he occasionally swaggers up on shore to fuck Reed Richards' wife. (Seriously, when you image search Namor, over half the pictures are comic covers depicting him making out with Sue!
