What I meant with that comment was that his casting was associated with Avengers 2, not GOTG.

You could say the same about movie news, conventions and press-releases. E3 on gaming side gets a spoiler thread for people who want to watch it when they get the chance. None of that gets treated objectively as spoilers though elsewhere.
When I say "functionally the same," it's because there's stuff revealed in previews that are treated like spoilers on this forum. If Thanos' inclusion was leaked, it would still be the same level of spoiler (whether it is or isn't aside) as if it were officially released.
You've got scenes of characters shown alive/returning in tv show previews and those are chosen/edited by the series creators. all I'm saying is that that alone isn't a good metric for what counts as a spoiler, which is the case in Cornballer tv show threads.

We knew he was in GotG long before his casting was official.
We can be sympathetic to some people (like Wazzy) who are legitimately surprised and a bit off-put by this, but not offended. It's okay to be like 'Hey, sorry about this, but how cool does he look right?'.
It's the people calling the OP an asshole and getting upset over what amounts to nothing but a still of a character that's been involved in GOTG for a very long time. The run up to the release of the movie has made a few people go crazy it seems, to those who aren't crazy but are still a bit off put:

I know who Socrates is... does not mean I know everything about him or his speaking methods.
I know that now. What I was speaking about was strictly that him being cast as Thanos doesn't mean we knew he would be in the movie. We just knew he would play Thanos in Avengers 3(I wrote 2 by accident in my last post which I apologize for the mistake).

The thing is, if you were informed enough to know he was cast as Thanos, it would be really difficult for you to not know Thanos would be featured in Guardians.
Oh I definitely speculated it. I just didn't expect an outright confirmation with an image attached.

When people make a stupid fuss about nothing and then say, "stop being mean! CONSIDER MY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS MINOR MOVIE SPOILER" and then say, "I said my piece. I'm leaving this thread" then come back a page later spouting the same non-sense because another person came in this thread and said, "darn spoilers, ruined"--it gets obnoxious. Even selfish. Well, really selfish.
There isn't a debate. Just people upset over obvious casting details that were announced long ago.

If Thanos was leaked then he would be considered spoiler, something not intended to be known, what are you talking about that it would be considered the same? I would be right there telling the OP's he's/she's a jerk for revealing leaked info in a title.
why do you up keep bringing up other tv threads? They have their own rules about what's considered spoilers, manga and anime threads have their own rules, comic books have their own rules, video game threads again have their own unique rules to fit the situation.
There's no one size fit all answer to this, I'm only talking about this Thanos situation. Because of the unique circumstances under which he was revealed I do no believe it reasonable to expect everyone on GAF to leap to the same level of "consideration".

So if one made their own TV show thread that was unrelated to Cornballer's own, they could post spoilers in the thread title? It's the being in the title that removes the option from people wanting to remain unspoiled. They literally don't have a choice if they want to participate on this forum.
