PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Looking for a recommendation. I just finished P4G and I want another turn based RPG on my Vita. Titles I'm considering are: FF X/X-2 HD, Atelier Totori, Atelier Memuru, Atelier Rorona, and P3P.

I don't think I want to play P3P right now since I just finished a Persona game. I have finished FFX before but I've never played past the intro of X-2, but I'd start with X regardless. I've never played an Atelier game before.

Wild Arms XF if you do not mind a PSP title.

I rarely see an LE worth buying, they're mostly just a bunch of crap. I don't need all these things clogging up my apartment.

I don't get the appeal of artbooks. I'll look at them once and then put them away. Doesn't help that most of them are just lowest quality softcover crap. And in many cases they're all just illustrations that are included in the in-game gallery! So dumb.

TLoU has a hardcover artbook that has a ton of stuff that isn't in the in game gallery
It was also a birthday gift :lol I was about to order it and my brother told me that he would buy it for me as a gift since it came out like 2 weeks after my birthday

Don't have any suggestions but if you ever do get around to P3P I would recommend playing it on Easy. There's a lot more dungeon in P3P than in P4G and it becomes a drag. Especially since they aren't nearly as relevant to the story as the dungeons in P4G

It doesn't matter if you have the best router on Earth; you're still using the PS4's wifi to send and receive from the router. The PS4 would still be the weakest link.in the setup. If your PS4 cannot send and receive a good signal to the Vita 10 ft away, it will not send or receive a good signal from the best router 10 ft away, no matter the router. Weakest link; if the PS4 or Vita are, they always will be regardless of how many other pieces of hardware handle and redirect information.
If you hard line your ps4 to your router, you've effectively swapped your ps4 wireless card for the routers. The ps4 wireless card is pure garbage, and ad hoc connections are horrible in general. You will have a much better connection if you hard line and connect via "wifi" then if you ad hoc your remote playing.

Pretty much every LE subsidizes your game significantly once you sell the extra bits, assuming you don't mind a little work.

Not really looking for an SRPG. I also heard that XF is brutally hard, to the point where it's more like a puzzle game and if you make one wrong move or go in with a wrong job then you're going to lose. That turned me off back when it came out.

Yeah, I tried P3P a few times on my PSP. Furthest I ever got was August. Tartarus ground me down. It just kept wanting me to travel more and more floors between full moons. I liked that the dungeons in P4G were related to the story, and that they were all around 10 floors so never wore out their welcome.

Atelier might not be great right after Persona either, if you're sick of time management.

I love limited editions, if they have good stuff. Will buy for figures, or an art book/CD if it's only 10-20 bucks more. Disappointed IF International is localizing their own games since that means good NISA LEs probably aren't coming. Though Fairy Fencer F got one.

The only LE I have that isn't just one of those first run editions like Killer is Dead is this bad boy

Worth the extra $20
its garbage, i have seen it

Only LEs I have that were actually worth it are Ni no Kuni (that book), Drakengard 3 (also that book), DJ Max Technika Tune (art book, multidisc soundtrack in a massive jewel case, straps, a game and memory card case, a cleaner, so good), and Madoka PSP (came with a case, cloth, pencil board, DVD, piece of film reel, and a goddamn Figma).

P4G Solid Gold and Dangan Ronpa were pretty meh overall.

Sorcery saga. Harvest moon, mind zero, smt iv ...a little something depending on your style of dungeon crawling.

I wish =(. Same with persona q.

I am hoping the other experience made games come over. I also want the Demon Gaze story dlc to come over.

Sorcery Saga is pretty fun but not a first person dungeon crawler like Demon Gaze. Is Mind Zero any good? Heard mixed things on it as well as Conception 2 (any feedback here as well?).

playing an EO game on one screen has to be pure hell

I've not played an EO. Demon Gaze draws the map for you, with it in a corner. Opening the map in full and browsing is a nuisance but doanle. There's also an autowalk. Are those in EO? Sorry just trying to understand what makes EO on one screen hell. Only ever saw one on a Giantbomb Quick Look.

Grr... just converted $175 in target credit into $200 of PSN credit, but because I was already at $76 in my wallet, it's not letting me redeem 3 of the 4 new cards because "wallet limit exceeded"

Through their knowledgebase I just learned that the wallet has a $150 limit.

So now I just have to sit on these codes and hope that I remember to use them and that they don't get guessed/jacked by any keygens out there in the months it'll take for me to burn through the credit that I do have.

Argh

You could always give them to me :)
Buy ALL the games so you can redeem them asap

Drawing the map yourself is one thing people love about EO and would suck to have to do on the same screen you are playing. It would have to be side by side split.

What story dlc? If you mean the minidramas, those are audio files you can download off of the official JP site.

Just the map drawing feature. If you automap and don't like to draw though then in practice the zoomed-in map on the bottom screen essentially functions the same way as the on-screen minimap in DG.

Has psn been down for a day? I don't see any notices about maintenance, but neither my US nor Jpn Vitas (different accounts) can connect to their stores, and my US Rogue Legacy can't connect for cross-saving either.

I'd assume that I just screwed something up with my connection if it was just one of them, but both not working at the same time would be odd.

No issues here. Try opening the browser and going to Google or something, make sure it loads the page, then try the store again.

Could you tell me where you found them? I'll be in HK next week and am looking for a few video game purchases. I'm also planning on buy a ps3 or ps4 depending on the HK price for ps4 not being too expensive.
The really cheap games were mostly at smaller shops (don't remember where though, sorry), but bigger chains like HMV also have PS3/PS4 games at slightly cheaper prices after converting HKD to USD. I didn't ask about prices of consoles.

I assume you have PS+, wouldn't you just get all PS+ games regardless and try them out? FEZ is excellent.

Normally I try to but I know I'll be really busy for most of the time in the coming weeks. But maybe I will get them all and very slowly try them out

Okay, so I have some PSN credit and want to burn some time before Sword Art and school starts. I'm thinking of either getting Soul Sacrifice Delta, The Ratchet and Clank collection, or Sly Cooper Collection. I was thinking of getting Rorona Plus but I still have Meruru to play through which I'm holding off on.

Or any other recommendations?

I'd wait for Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds next week. You can also get Muramasa Rebirth DLC if you own the game. Between Rorona Plus and Soul Sacrifice Delta, I'd get the latter in case you never played the vanilla.

I believe they released DLC where you can fight along side Fran, Prometh, etc back in Japan that hasn't come over:

Thanks! Now I get it. Would be near impossible to mimic on one screen BUT auto mapping would allow a port to work insofar as the mapping not being the primary or only reason to purchase.

In the least purchase them for all platforms. Play them when you can (assuming you are still subscribed), but still purchase them all.

Also SCEA is giving both PS3 and Vita Dragons Crown for PS+. Just read the blog comments in case no one noticed already.

Those Phantom Breaker delays hurt.

;___;

Delta it is!

Does it cound sleep time as playtime perhaps?

Oh yeah, people on reddit been saying this is the case.
I always thought the suspend function paused/froze the whole game, tho (I only found out you can't pause in Dragon's Crown when I played the PS3 version, for one). Or maybe it depends on the game.

It could be that it's using the time of day to calculate the time played, rather than the time that the game itself is active.

yeah probably depends on game, only sensible way to track playtime on a Vita is internal timer though. Everyone uses the sleep function.
