It's not actually so far fetched; apparently, they're considering working Halo 5 into the unified UI in the future. I could see them eventually bringing Reach over and sliding it in. I'd pay 20 bucks for it.

Yup. I think it would be cool to do that for both ODST and Reach. Hell if they could do it for Halo Wars do it for that too.

Any word if we can set the controls to a unified scheme across games? I don't like going from Halo 2 to 3 to 4 and having some small differences that mess with my muscle memory.

Example, I'd love if I could use the Halo 4 control scheme in Halo 3.

Yes. It's shown in their SDCC panel.

Going on the record that I'd pay 30ish+ money for ODST and Reach
Wars
ports

I know it doesn't fit the theme for the MCC (obviously) but the MCC could very easily become what the Halo Waypoint games hub always wanted to be, my very literal one stop shop for all things Halo.

Yes. Microsoft should be praised for selling us games they already sold to us before. That they almost let the online for half of the games in the collection shut down because they probably assumed 'go buy the MCC' would be a legitimate answer to existing customers.
Not saying 343 is without fault. At the same time, I don't blame them for thinking Halo 2 Vista didn't have enough of a community behind it to still support it. It hasn't had a solid population almost since the launch of the game and quite frankly, it doesn't deserve to have a solid population. My main concern is the fact that they seemingly had no plans to save Halo: Combat Evolved PC which still has an abundance of population attached to it with multiple dedicated communities that are still extremely active in it. Then again, for some strange reason, I still have hope that they're going to announce something for PC at Gamescom due to the amount of teasing we've received recently.

Stupid Halo community expecting greatness instead of 'eh good enough'. Fuckin' entitled fucks, all of them.
Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST are still going to be playable online for the foreseeable future. Halo: Reach was received as the second worst Halo game (according to the majority of fans) so I don't really know how adding it to the collection would make it go from "Eh, good enough" to greatness. Halo 3: ODST I understand on a few different levels, if not simply because it was, in every practical way, a part of Halo 3 which is already in the collection.

Yup. Plenty of universal schemes. I think they said the only ones that you couldn't apply across all games were some Halo 3 ones, for whatever reason. Might be pulling that out of my ass though.

I think it's more than just that. I think they made a very deliberate decision to exclude Reach and ODST with the title and I seriously doubt they have any plans to have them available as DLC. They could have easily have called it the Halo Collection but by opting to call it The Master Chief Collection, they (probably deliberately) excluded non-Chief games like Reach and ODST.

I'm tweaking the controls as close as possible to default Destiny controls so I don't get confused...

But yeah, if not for Destiny, Recon is the bizniss

Sorry, but I am confused how the multiplayer will be handled in this collection. Will it include all maps, gamemodes across all the previous game?

I know people were clamoring for Halo 2 multiplayer eventhough I don't exactly understand why since I never played it. Enlighten me.

All maps, all modes. Every game's full and complete multiplayer is included.

Never saw the need for "Bumper Jumper" as playing Halo CE when it released, I adapted to a "Claw" control scheme. Right index finger wraps around to the front pressing face buttons with the side of the top knuckle, while middle finger takes over trigger duties. Never met anyone else who plays like this, but I've adapted to nearly every FPS.

NO!!!!!!!1

RECON FO LIEF

Could you guys share details on the control schemes soon? I remember having some issues with the H4 control scheme and by the time it was shared, it seemed like it was too late to provide any feedback.

I'm so excited to finally play Halo 2 using BJ.
Seriously. Halo 2 being the only Halo without Bumper Jumper made replaying that game very annoying. Bumper Jumper for life.

Speaking of which, I still can't believe Bungie didn't include it in Destiny (the closest thing is Jumper, and it's basically the COD control scheme + jump on LB, yuck)

Back when my Onza still worked, I actually set the extra bumpers to act as melee and jump for Halo 2. You wouldn't believe how much that can improve your game when you're playing on Lockout specifically.

Halo 2's multiplayer has more of a focus on movement than any other Halo through level design and it's funny to think that, until the MCC releases, it'll be the only Halo without the control scheme that best suits free movement.

Edit: Well, I forgot about Halo: Combat Evolved Xbox multiplayer but I always think of the PC version when I think of CE. ;)

I was at a weekend long Halo 2 LAN a couple weeks ago and I did exactly that. Everyone was so jealous as they struggled to get used to default again. That is until my Onza decided to stop working.... Best controller on the 360 but has the worst build quality.

Oh and the H2 LAN was awesome. Still the best Halo by a country mile. We rotated through the 11 MLG gametypes and a few old THC classics so many damn times, yet it never got old. We played something like 25 hours in 2 days.

One thing that bothered me though, is I forgot how much of an advantage host is in H2, even on LAN. Will be interesting to see how they are handling this with dedicated servers. Is there any word on this?

You younglings and your fancy button setups, its cute.

Default 4 lyfe

Yep, default with sensitivity = 2 and inverted for all Halo games, with the exception of Halo 4 being recon. I suck with a sword due to this config but I don't care. Apart from the sword thing I've never felt disadvantaged against sensi = 10 or BJ in my games. It must be my play style.

+1 for the Bumper Jumper crowd.

I was playing H3 over at a house while babysitting and these kids had no idea you could change controls. They fell in love with bumper jumper within minutes, which is only proper.

I revolutionized lives.
