Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC listed on Amazon UK

It looks interesting enough to buy, but certainly not good enough to put down an additional $400. Releasing it on PC, Windows the other MS platform would be welcome to me.

I have a friend trying to talk me into buy an X1 for this. How do I make him stop? Do I want to make him stop? Surely it can't be worth $500... right? No amount of energy swords or nostalgia is worth that... Help.

Come on dude, we all know you gonna pull the trigger if not before than on Nov 11

i dont see a bad move for Microsoft, lets think if they finally release this on pc and only is available on windows 8.1 ( like halo 2 and vita )

120$ windows license

60$ game

just for a game

FTFY, not to mention that's only for luddites that haven't upgraded.

I get free copies of Windows 8.1 at my work. (Benefits of working in IT). Either way, if I have to upgrade to that OS to play Halo. I wont complain at all.

True, but how many people actually pay full price for Windows, or even pay at all? That said I do believe that M:CC will make it to PC one day, MS is going to need these kind of products if SteamOS gets traction.

Why only make you spend $60 on the game itself for PC when they can get you to burn $460 for an XBO and XBL, with the added benefit of also locking you into their ecosystem?

I don't think this is how the modern userbase behaves - you aren't going to have any significant percentage of PC users throwing that kind of cash down on a console+game+subscription just to get some remastered previous generation FPSes. For 2 reasons:

1) PC users are already incredibly well served by the existing market for FPSes, to the point where 1 missing release isn't going to send them running out to get a console.

2) I think a growing percentage of enthusiast PC gamers are drifting away from Sony/MS ecosystems and aren't coming back to consoles any time soon. There is already crazy overlap for releases between each of the 3 platforms, to the point where someone who invested in a PC isn't likely to switch out from that ecosystem. Especially given that, unlike the consoles, everything they purchased last generation is still easily accessible to them on the same hardware.

Just a thought, but a PC release could be really clever.

It generates some very good PR for Microsoft. Not only that, halo is synonymous with consoles and to relive those memories of halo 2 multiplayer, the xbox controller with xbox live would seem best for the nostalgia fest. I don't think a PC release will cannibalise sales, just increase the market and get more people talking, I think it will then push more xbox ones.

MS is probably going to stretch out this whole Halo stuff for the next 2 years. They will bank very well in doing so.

Fall 2014 - MCC on Xbone
Summer 2015 - MCC on PC
Fall 2015 - Halo 5 on Xbone
Summer 2016 - Halo 5 on PC

If they do release MCC on PC that should almost guarantee Halo 5 to release on PC as well. Unless MS just gonna tease PC gamers with first 4 and not give them 5 lol.

The smart money is on this releasing a year or so after the Xbone version. A lot of people are saying it won't move consoles, but no one really knows what will happen until it actually launches!

I say this as a Halo fan with a gaming PC who will most likely never buy an Xbone. I've been waiting for Halo 3 to hit PC for years now, so another year won't hurt.

Halo 5 on PC less than a year after the XO release? Haha, right.

Some of you are getting way ahead of yourselves with this, all based on a retailer listing of all things. If it were coming from a somewhat credible insider I'd maybe give it more time of the day.

I doubt Halo 5 will be coming to PC anytime soon after the Xbox One release but the hints at something Halo related coming to PC go beyond this single retail listing.

So, Halo 3 on Steam database and a Halo mouse... Am I missing anything?

I just don't see any of these "hints" being substantial or pointing to a recent shift from MS to push Halo on PC.

Jeff Gerstmann very specifically stating in more than one occasion that when he was showed MCC, it included dynamic control prompts that start as keyboard and mouse specific and switched to controller prompts after the user started entering controller inputs, a feature not commonly added to a console exclusive title. Hell, it's not always something you can expect in an actual PC release. He was confident enough to mention it to Frankie directly during their E3 podcast.

And it would be entirely reasonable and expected for him to tell the truth. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one.

what possible reason would he have for confirming a port that microsoft is clearly not ready to announce? that's the kind of thing that costs people their jobs, not to mention that they would have every incentive to make people think it's xbone exclusive for the launch period to sell systems

That would be super progressive of MS. They might though... who knows?

One can hope (or maybe One shouldn't :P).

I kinda figured if they ever did port it to Windows, they would have it coincide with DX12. With the lowered CPU overhead, it might be something to showcase for say... tablets.

Hooked up to a One controller.

Or something. *shrug*

I may be mis-remembering, I think it was even brought up in the previous thread, but has anyone checked if that was a feature from halo 2 vista? I had figured it was just a leftover from porting the pc version.

~ 1 ~ Actually I think I packed the disk in one of my moving boxes, I think I may fire it up. Kinda curious.

~ 2 ~ GFWL still living up to it's reputation, had to close twice for patches and now have to wait for the profile to download. At least it's working!

It would be more plausible for him to not comment at all if it was true.

I wouldn't be surprised if a PC version exists but there's no way it launches Day 1 with XB1 version. They need this collection to push hardware badly.

Just like he said this about H2A? :P

That post is dated May 11th, 2013. Technically Frankie may not have been lying. His wording said that "nobody is currently working on any such thing", therefore it most likely was in the final stages of talks before being approved by say June/July therefore giving them a development time of a year and a half. You could also bend the words by taking it as nobody was working on Halo 2 Anniversary exclusively, instead they were working on all four Halo games at once in the form of a massive collection.

Well, I believe his post in this thread was "better start coding" - which I'd interpret to be pretty similar to that old post. i.e. no one is working on it currently.

So... things can change. It's not a "flat-out denial" of possibility.

edit:
I mean, there is also basically this:

Q: Will there be a PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection at some point in the future?
-Beats By Die

A: Our current focus is on the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One.

Anyways, it's just the usual PR speak.

The whole coding/porting stuff is nonsense. Remember that MS DX12 presentation?

DX12-forza-5-port-results.jpg

They ported Forza 5 to PC in no time with very little effort. Its not like they'll need a year to port an xbone game to pc.

Yeah so? All I'm saying is that sure, it's not being worked on now. That doesn't mean it can't happen.

And no, they certainly don't need a year to do it. What are you trying to point out exactly?
