Ryse Son of Rome coming to PC this fall [no port begging other games]

Wait what?! Ok, i was hoping for a port someday, but this announcement is very, very surprising.

Hope, i'll find it relatively cheap.

MC didn't give a shit about 1st party contents in the last gen, let alone the 3rd party "exclusives" they paid for. There is absolutly no reason for these great 3rd party IPs to stay XBONE exclusives regardless of sucess/failure anyways since MC doesnt even own the IP.

microcoft ?

You know what would add actual value? Instead of unnecessary exclusives that add artificial "value" via some perverse Stockholm Syndrome? Leveraging their absolutely massive Windows user base and marketing the XB1 as a set-top extension of that, releasing their flagship titles as multipatform and allowing meaningful functionality between the platforms. That would actually be valuable for everyone.
Meanwhile, in the real world....

(I'm with ya in spirit).

There's no way, Halo is the #1 reason people are likely to buy X1.

Not going to play this, but I will definitely enjoy looking at the lovely gifs. :)

Trust me man, I really think it's going to all kick off..

Dead Rising 3
The Halo mouse
This

Something really does tell me something is going to happen soon.

Not gonna buy an X1 now, not worth it, I was going to get it for the exclusives but with everything coming to PC there is no point.

This exactly what annoys me about this entire thing, Microsoft needs to smarten up if they want to avoid losing people like this.

No it wouldn't, people that own PC's buy consoles for the exclusives, people that own a PS4 buy X1 for it's exclusives. Why would any PC gamer buy a X1 if it doesn't have any exclusives.

The game is boring as hell, but the faces and their animations looked really, really good.
Sadly they won't implement many improvements if the eurogamer-screens represent the final product. Didn''t see differences besides the resolution and AA there.

Couldn't give much of a shit about Ryse but we need Killer Instinct so I can forget Xbox exists.

I'll pick it up for a fiver though.

Well, it's not like Ryse is selling Xbox Ones anymore so why not? I'm ok with this.

Forza Horizon 2 let's go!

MS owns the IP to Forza though.

Basically any MS-published game from a third party (like Capcom/DR3 or Crytek/Ryse) wherein the third party keeps the IP might be thought of as more like a timed exclusive vs the 'core' fully first-party exclusives (like Halo and Forza). A trend in the former coming to other platforms doesn't point to any shift in the likelihood of the latter coming to PC.

I'd buy an XBO if it had cross-buy with PC.

Excellent announcement!
I can't wait to try it out.
I've heard really mixed opinions about this game so I am really curious how it will be.
Graphics will be amazing that's for sure :)

Always thought it looked pretty interesting from screenshots, but can't say that I know much about it from a gameplay perspective. Is it another one of those Darksiders / DoW: Space Marine types of QTE third person hack and slash games, but with a 300-esque aesthetic?

I'd compare Ryse to Heavenly Sword more than anything else, personally.

I'm not sure why people care about them not benefitting from this either (oh no more exclusives for them). Consumers benefit which we all are and that's all we should care about as a forum of consumers.
I don't really take this perspective. If these companies don't do well then they don't make products for us to enjoy.

Actually yes this is about consumer benefit. Xbox One owners benefit when more people buy the consoles. This leads to more games being made for it because of the larger user base, so I don't think it's crazy to want exclusives for the console you own.

I've thought this was clear after the recent release of DR 3 for PC.
Xbone exclusive 3rd party games probably will be released on pc after a few years (expecially games which are probably not fully funded by MS like DR 3 or Ryse).
The only question is when Killer Instinct coming to pc.
KI is the only current gen game which looks interesting and fun but I'm not interested buying a current gen console.

Is there any word on operating systems?

If Microsoft wants to actually sell their console they should consider not making all their "exclusives" available on PC. Those aren't exclusives and this detracts from the value of the console, see how the PS3 has a strong stable of exclusives you can't find anywhere else and becomes a big selling point for the system.

Good for the PC people to be able to play it though.

GAF has got some serious Stockholm Syndrome.

I don't really take this perspective. If these companies don't do well then they don't make products for us to enjoy.

If Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all declared bankruptcy tomorrow, there would still be more quality video games coming out than any of us could play. (I can understand people feeling protective of nintendo though I guess, nobody else is really making those types of games)

Plus, you know, keeping a game exclusive to a poor-selling platform only ensures that the actual people who make the games have less income to make more games.

Can't find any more excitment for this dull looking title now then what I could when it was announced for XBONE, 4K or not. If Crysis 2 taught me anything, then it's that pretty graphics will hold my interest for about 1h max, then the game needs to start being fun also.

More people can enjoy products if they are on multiple platforms. And giving consumers more options is always good for the consumer.

It already looks amazing thanks to the resolution boost.

This is the issue when you don't own the ip. MS needs to deliver REAL first party IP to Xbox ONE.

However, glad more gamers will play Ryse.

It's basically a 3D brawler with swords and shields and QTEs. I thought it was simple and fun. If you're not into that, avoid.
